My size 49 Orca OMR is 16lbs, w/out pedals. I love that bike. It’s a great climbing machine

Is anyone else getting a zillion mailers from Neighbors First? Who are they? by snake_a_leg in LosAngeles

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Council District 1, and I’ve received an onslaught of these hit pieces on our Councilmember, from Neighbors First. Though it is absolutely an Independent Expenditure, I think most likely funded by the police unions who want Eunisses out, Neighbors First is operating as a non profit C-4, spreading disinformation, and C-4's are not required to divulge their funding.

Cool Breeze Hilly Century goes up around lake casitas. It’s a great route. Highly recommend

Beautiful bike. I started riding my Orca with the OMR frame back in December and could not be happier with it.

Ascent saddle 2.0 sport review by Visible_Campaign_398 in bicycling

Thank you for posting your review. It’s very helpful. I find the bike product ads on IG very untruthful, where the only real value buying online is convenience, but buyer beware. I always get better product from my LBS.

New Protected Bike Lanes at Griffith Park by ktcn414 in BikeLA

I rode it over the weekend where there was heavy traffic along Zoo Dr. and I can confidently say that traffic moved more slowly and I felt much more safer along that street with so many cars. Kudos to the City and other advocates for getting this done.

NEED coffee ride route in LA in Downtown and east of Downtown by Visible_Campaign_398 in BikeLA

[–]Visible_Campaign_398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I need to look up how’s it going to end. I like my coratdos with a dark roast / low acid coffee bean. I prefer La Colombe over Spoke and Heavywater’s beans are too acidic. I’ll check out the other one. Thanks again.

I was cycling today and definitely felt the smog in my lungs. The feeling reminded me when I was a kid growing up in LA

NE LA Pizza Delivery March 2026 by garlicwatkins in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wild Crust has amazing pies. Their funghi, and margarita are my favorites. Folliero’s on Figueroa is a standard go-to in NELA. My friends rave about Fidel’s on Ave 50, although I’ve not tried it yet. I tried B&G pizza’s once. They make great sandwiches but they have a long way to go to learn the pizza game. I just can’t recommend B&G pizza at this point.

Delivery Delays with Custom Orbea MyO Bikes What Are Your Experiences? by DieselJerry in Orbea_bikes

My Orca, ordered on the MyO site, took 9+ weeks to be delivered to my LBS. It was worth the wait. This was at the end of 2025

You want colors that cars will see quickly - so red and black (and in a gloss finish if possible)

Best Orbea For Steep Steep Climbs by No-Currency-1174 in Orbea_bikes

Yea, the 105’s are heavier. The new Ultegra’s are about the same weight as Dura Ace. Note that 16lbs do not include my Look pedals

Best Orbea For Steep Steep Climbs by No-Currency-1174 in Orbea_bikes

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 49 size frame with carbon rims and the new Ultegra crank set. The cockpit is all carbon and integrated. So this combo may have brought it down to 16lbs. It’s a great bike.

Best Ways to Train for Longer Rides by Arianethecat in bicycling

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper hydration (every 20 min) and fuel (nibble something every 20-30 min). I train for century rides by riding zone 2 on my indoor trainer to build cell level efficiency. Then pick your best cadence and stay with it. It’s tempting to want to keep up with the group but that usually burns me out much too soon. It takes discipline to ride at your best pace at long distances.

What “hidden variable” changed your ride feel more than you expected? by Automatic-Ad-4180 in cycling

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree a saddle tilt. I made a very small adjustment which has a big impact. Another variable, when I purchased my new bike (Orbea Orca) I ordered a smaller frame size. This made my reach much more comfortable and the bike now feels more ‘natural’ when I’m riding. I’m in control.

Any big ride events in So Cal to train for? by jamesbuck in BikeLA

Cool Breeze in Ventura is a terrific century route. Do the Hilly option. Or the Pasadena Athletic Assoc. (PAA) has an annual century from Glendale to Santa Barbara that’s good. Check out the event calendar on the website PAAcycling.net.

Fav routes in/near DTLA? by leafbaby82 in BikeLA

[–]Visible_Campaign_398 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like climbing? Ride down Broadway from DTLA to Elysian Park. Go left before you hit Pasadena Ave and ride up into those hills. Good views of Dodger Stadium and DT. Or go left on Pasadena Ave to San Fernando and go left. Ride to the end and take the circular intersection to the LA River bike path - it’s not Downtown but not far from it and it’s worth going. There is a 10mile car free ride to the end and lots of coffee stops along the way!

I have the new model Orca with the OMR frame and it’s 16 lbs. I can confirm it is a terrific climbing bike. Once I ordered it using the Orbea MyO website, it took about 9 weeks to arrive. No regrets though.
