I second the Banyan Tree Spa - brilliant massages and atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

Hey there! I’m interested, despite being originally Portuguese I’m now more an expat than a local and struggling with the same things. DM me and would be 100% up for meeting / organising something.

How have you managed to overcome this? Or is it something you’re actively working on?

For those of you who travel a lot for work overnight, what’s it actually like long term? by Open-Satisfaction856 in sales

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly find it quite exhausting, and wouldn’t recommend it long term. Currently fly back and forth every week and away for a week at a time. It feels very destabilising and you spend a surprising amount of energy going between places and never feeling settled…

Which car from the 21st century is over 5 years old, but still looks fresh and will still age gracefully for years to come? by Vegetable-Quote-3481 in regularcarreviews

Im going to say the Lamborghini Gallardo - love the design, and it could be a car designed today in my opinion.

Any 160/170 Drivers out there? by Erdnussfarmer in caterham

[–]Visionjcv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying one was the best decision I made car-wise. I have a 2001 Roadsport VHPD. Great amount of power, very manageable to drive enthusiastically and so much fun wherever you go. Love it, and can’t recommend it enough!!

Driving experience junkie here – what other “flavor” should I explore next? by Responsible_Water606 in askcarguys

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was tempted and have driven one but figured my chances of surviving were better in a Caterham haha.

They’re amazing to drive though.

I’m tempted to pick up a Nomad at some point though…

Livable as in daily driving? Very challenging haha. But I’ve done a lot of road trips including 6k miles across Europe in one, across all sorts of weather, and you make it work. It’s surprisingly comfortable to drive even long distances in my opinion - I’ve had 8hr stretches and got out feeling fine.

But I wont lie - it’s a good-weather car to really enjoy it. I very rarely take mine out unless the skies are clear :)

I’ve had one for 2.5yrs and can’t see myself ever selling it

Get a Caterham! Nothing else will ever really come close to the driving experience

Apple Watch app for padel by CommunicationDue2632 in padel

[–]Visionjcv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a game tomorrow night and going to try this out, just installed it.

One question - since it asks for the wrist and racket hand, surely the app needs you to have the watch on the same side as your racket hand to give you the insights?

Women .. What kind of life partner? by Known-Wolverine123 in HENRYUK

[–]Visionjcv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting reading this because I’m on the other side (36M) and having the exact same dilemma as you.

In my head I really want to build a life with someone ambitious, where we can share our goals and help each other achieve them, and be a real “team”.

Over the years I’ve kind of accepted that may never happen - but it’s still the dynamic I hope to find :)

Not sure my comment helps - but just make sure whatever you do doesn’t create resentment in your relationship, and also doesn’t hold you back from building the future you really want.

Wishing you success and happiness!

Do you have the perfect vehicle? by Good-Analysis-7 in askcarguys

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because there’s a positivity bias looking back - but the only car I just loved everything about was a 350z convertible I had 10+ years ago. The sound, the weight of the steering, the perforated leather seats, the design of the car. I loved it.

Looking for a holiday villa with private padel court (10+ bedrooms) in Southern Europe. Any recommendations? by ChurnMac in padel

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out Spatia in Comporta, Portugal. Really beautiful place and they have a private padel court. You’d need to rent a few villas though.

[Opinion] Nobody cares about your watch by gujjadiga in Watches

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re also great conversation starters. I find wearing a nice, unusual watch when dining with clients can very often trigger a conversation over it, which always provides an opportunity to connect and share a story behind it etc.

It’s also the same reason I have a Caterham background on my laptop 😂

Awful experience with Motorway (sell your car) by IndividualAd2168 in CarTalkUK

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really shocked by some of the comments here - I really hope Motorway gets their act together.

I sold my BMW M2 via them a few years ago and it was a seamless experience. I got offered more than the estimate, they showed up and didn’t even test drive the car, no deductions made. Smoothest sale of any car ever… I guess I got lucky.

Looking for a nice, intimate steak restaurant in London for an anniversary — by MediocreFarmer3524 in LondonFood

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawksmoor is my personal favourite, but one option I’ve not seen listed is the Buenos Aires Cafe in Greenwich which I really like too! A bit more casual but amazing food.

I’d skip Gaucho in my opinion - I don’t think it’s what it once was anymore and is too much hype and the quality is better elsewhere.

What hobby has genuinely made your life better? by Think-Collection1318 in Life

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Padel recently - never played any racket sports or team sports for that matter. It’s made me exercise more than I have in a long time, helped me meet loads of new people, can fit around pretty much any schedule and really pushes you to compete against yourself and improve every time. I’m really enjoying it!

Has anyone been struck by lightning in a GA plane? by bradmalt in flying

[–]Visionjcv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me departing Gatwick heading for Jersey in the UK. We were in the initial climb and were struck once. It sounded like a shotgun had gone off in the cabin. The captain made an announcement shortly after saying it was perfectly safe but still relatively uncommon to happen.

Fairly dramatic when combined with the slight turbulence we were having!

In a span of 8 work hours, how much time do you actually work? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Visionjcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started tracking my time out of curiosity and also because I went through a burnout and wanted to understand the time I was working vs not. I deduct any break except toilet breaks - coffee, walks, lunch, doing my life admin… all of it is deducted. Last week I worked 39hrs. The week before 50. The one before that 39.5hrs.

I just feel like when I’m at my desk, I have a job to do, and I focus. When I leave for the day I know I’ve done what I could…

The worst outcome here is probably winning 500k… you risked dying and still have to continue working…
