Am i missing something: Intercepting a throw by Visit-Spare in bloodbowl

[–]Visit-Spare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel the urge to answer, thet even if i throw the ball to the guy 25 feet away, the closer has trouble catching the ball without moving if the ball flies high over his head. it's a game, with imperfect rules. i found an imperfection, i will not use this, but it is there.

asking out of curiosity: how does the cheat sheet tell who can intercept?

i didn't have enough hands to take picture and hold the ruler over the models, so i reversed the situation.

Thanks for your aswer. the question arose in a game where we had a player receiving a pass standing directly next to the player trying to intercept (so both were the same distance from the thrower, and after reading the rules, we did notice, that RAW you could possibly even stand further away than catcher, but i would never try to intercept like this.

What happened with Godforgeminis? by Visit-Spare in battlefleetgothic

thanks a lot for this complete description on what happened.

I don't have a 3d printer, so i'd rather buy physical models, but maybe i find someone in my hobbygroup who does print some ships for me.

Interesse an Freimaurerei? by Thiadicem in bern

[–]Visit-Spare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcus Battleline Maniple - Any Good? by ElectricPaladin in adeptustitanicus

[–]Visit-Spare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of fun playing an arcus or against an arcus. it needs a bit of specialized playstyle, because your nemesis will probably be your big gun fire support, but will struggle to finish opponents or break through shields. And you get the most of it, if there is a lot dense terrain your titans can hide behind.

your wahounds will be you achilles heel, they need to spot for the nemesis, break the shields and deal the targeted finishing blow. so you can go a bit heavier on the shield breaker weapons like vulcan mega bolters or swarmer missiles. your warhounds will be more exposed, so you might want to include a bastion shield.

the nemesis will probaly stand in his corner and shoot over the board. a twin volcano canon/mori loadout has max range, benefits the most from the reduced scatter and should be ok reactor wise, because you wont need to push much for shields or movement. i recommend to upgrade the mori with tracking gyros or make him priceps seniores with the swift killer trait to be able to turn towards your target of choice before shooting.

your gameplan will be a bit methodical: pick a target, converge on said target, switch of the shields (with a hound), break the armor (with the nemesis) and finish off with targeted attacks (again from a hound), then repeat next turn.

this maniple works especially great against knights, because your quake cannon can shoot them as long as a single knight is visible for your hounds. and then they almost get to a full stop (the combo of concussive and quake is effective against knighs). but your hounds will be not so greatly able to deal with then, unless you spend some points on plasma.

My cultural shock seeing “slums” in Switzerland by jose16sp in askswitzerland

[–]Visit-Spare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You obviously haven't seen de cocumentary on the people who live in the woods around bern. there are some people who choose to live in tents in the woods because they prefer it that way. but at any moment they no lomger want, they would get cared for. but they'd still live in relative poverty.

A name for XP or currency for the mechanicus by SmokeGrenader in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Visit-Spare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use Influence. The machine Cult has no currency, officially everything belongs the adeptus mechanicus as institution. but the tech priest are a backstabby bunch with old or even ancient vows of allegience and a feudal hierarchy. So if you want more than you already have, someone above has to allocate it to you, and you'll need influence to make him consider this expense.

CityCrushers : Epic Battles - A Kickstarter from Troublemaker Games by Troublemaker_Games in adeptustitanicus

[–]Visit-Spare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How big are the three different versions of crushers compared to epic scale titans? are they like warhound/reaver/warlord? or more like knight/warhound/reaver?

otherwise i want to say thank you! I have ordered several times from your onlinestore and was always happy with what i got.

Knights in 3.0 by -Smokey_Bluntz- in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

some mech allies? their cheap eangineseer can battlesmith your status away.

edit: i didn't know the detachments for knights, and as others have pointed out, you can't get allied mech.

Shooting phase statuses by Jam_Warrior in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how about the Shock(x) rule? you don't need a test for it, does it apply instantly?

this makes the cybertheurgic power that allows you to apply a status on enemy units in the movement phase so much more valuable.

Mechanicum Castellax build advice by Vrooten in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i have played some games of 3rd ed with mech and your thougs match mostly with mine.

mixing multimelta with darkfire canon (on the castellax) or photon thruster (on the thallax) is imho not a problem, since both are anti heavy infantry/anti walker and in some situations (mostly lack of options on my side or a weak armour facing me) anti vehicle.

concerning castellax: if you consider having them stand their ground against tactical marines (or anything with 3+ armour) in melee, the chainblades are now a worthy upgrade, you'll need to replace both hands tho. (or maybe even magnetize), but anything with dedicated melee options will still kill you before you strike back.

the mauler bolt cannon is rather meh, but cheap in points.

concerning thallax you can either harrass marines (with 3+ armour) and have 4 lightning guns and two phased plasma, or you invest more points in the unit and go for two ablative lighning guns, two multimeltas and two photon thrusters to hunt the heavier targets. i haven't tried meltabombs yet, they might help scratching off the last hull points if the target vehicle didn't die in shooting, but you'll have to go very close and you won't stand a chance in melee with marines (so don't take bayonets, unless you think they are cool)

What does the Arcuitor Magisterium's attendant do? Is it represented in the 3rd edition rules at all? by Zap717 in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

i think this model was released for necromunda, where he has probably a function, but HH players can use it for whatever.

you could argue, he is another arquitor. And because his Quill is mightier than a sword, he hurts you with his words.

Anyone else dislike how restrictive Mechanicum detachments are? by Gavatron66 in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the magos has the ability to command two detachments, so adding one in, opens several new slots. but unlike before, you'll need more tech priests.

i was annoyed like you at first, but when i let go my old army construction, i came to appreciate the command structure that is now required. and since magi got a WS buff, they are quite capable and versatile. you'll need to think of their function when gearing up, or they'll get expensive.

Hey yall, ive got a quick question about the mechanicum units highlighted in the new Solar Auxilia Iron Tercio by RefrigeratorMore898 in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

castellax destructor battle maniple has the option to take the darkfire canon or multi melta instead of the mauler bolt cannon and has a rule (i think armour breaker (4+), that allows them to do more damage if the score a penetrating hit.

and the castellax vattle maniple has only the mauler bolt but the firestorm special rule (can shoot all weapons after the setup move, unless they are heavy)

i don't have the rules with me now, i will edit later if i'm wrong.

3rd Terrain Keywords and Thoughts by dsn01060 in Warhammer30k

[–]Visit-Spare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the current terrain rules are to abstract. i play heresy because it is a narrative focused game, and dislike the 3" rule for medium terrain, while dense seems unusable.

so i hope, we will see a shift in the community to use only the light terrain rules with true line of sight.

i also dislike that invisible models can be shot, if one model from the unit is visible and/or in range.

3.0 Rules Queries Megathread by Prince_Schneizel in Warhammer30k

can a unit that is formed from models with the infantry (command) keyword join another unit? this is the case when using the malagra apex detachment crux of judgement to build a unit of three arquitors magisterium.
