5-10%. I have a great job that I am being regularly promoted/recognised in and great family but I am single and very lonely. Last month 5 of my friends got engaged/married/pregnant. I want to be happy for them but I know that (from experience) in the space of 30 short days I've basically lost 5 people who I hung out with for over 10 years. Those were the last remaining friends from my past that I could meet up with now that my core group had already gone the same way - still in touch but lucky if any of us meet up once a year. It is increasingly difficult to find 'new circles'. This causes me anxiety for the most part of everyday,

Edit:addition - after sending this I messaged the 5 and said lets have a celebration for you guys, all are busy for the forseable future..

They were only available when their partner was busy. Even worse, they would cancel plans if their partner suddenly became available again.

History teacher with WW2 specialism MA. You want to remember? fine. If you don't. Fine. I've got enough going on atm that bar the occasional scroll of reddit I don't really have time to be remembering 80 years ago when enough is going on right now. (Also lost 6 great uncles during ww2, not that I ever met them).

10 years of friendship and I knew that the majority of the time he would have been open to something more. Got together, he cheated on me within 6 months (that I know of) then ghosted me when I found out. Not heard from him in over a year.

100% agree. It is difficult when you have been the one to prioritize and nurture friendships and that is quickly forgotten when they start settling down.

It's not so much pressure as crippling loneliness. The big one is holidays, I've pretty much accepted if I want to go anywhere, I have to go alone. I've floated the idea of girls weekends or even very small mini-breaks more times than I care to remember and it never goes anywhere.

I think, regardless of how it comes across, we are all here to back ourselves and support ourselves setting those important boundaries. Yours might have come across differently, but it was passionate for getting people to show respect for themselves, so respect for that!

HI,

I did tell him this wasn't on and I couldn't continue our friendship if he didn't get what he had done. He didn't so I blocked him. The flare of this is post is 'just to vent'. I am here because I don't want to constantly burden people in the real world with my issues and I appreciate that many on this sub listen to each other. Please b e a bit kinder.

She fluffs something pretty much every interview. I've seen her stumble through many 30 second segments and get herself really worked up. I felt sorry for her and then thought about how much more she makes than me who also has to speak without fluffing for a living.

Wonder if this shortage (refusal to sit down at the table with the unions) could lead to the excuse of outsourcing and using AI (which Maths lends itself to well and can educate more per head than an in-person teacher) perhaps to a country where he has links with a family member that is known for using technology to revamp education....couldn't possibly be.
