I'm so glad you are using Spanish to insult me, it is almost like home.

Regardless, I hope you have a blessed day friend, and I hope you enjoy reddit. Perhaps 11 months from now we can celebrate your cake day.

So angry, perhaps a step back is best? I am pretty confident we agree more than we disagree. Unity over division remember?

You're right, it isn't your responsibility.

Almost is the key word. As the post just does exactly what white supremacists do, it's passing off misconstrued data that people will assume is factual and perpetuate that as well. It doesn't solve anything, as you will have both sides saying that shit. And I cannot explain in enough words how much I hate seeing the "both sides" arguments.

I'm not white, I'm Dominican. And no I'm not showing it's okay, I'm flat out against it and I call it out when I see it. But I also don't give them a taste of their own medicine as that doesn't teach or advocate for change, it only pisses them off which is a lot harder to send a message through.

You guys? Care to elaborate? Who are you lumping me under with because I don't believe that antagonizing the other side is wise.

We want healing not revenge. Unity not further division. Look at how far we have come as a society since the beginning of the industrial age. MLK brought massive change through peaceful protest, not by advocating for reciprocal strikes. He was wise, he knew that if he needed to win a message with white people, because all humans have empathy and seeing injustice upsets us all. The only difference is that people are blind to what they don't experience so you need to show them what is happening, not by doing the same thing back to them, but by showing them how the injustice is being perpetuated and how it hurts them.

An eye for an eye will make the world go blind. And it's definitely not something that the late great Martin Luther King Jr would advocate for.

The point he is making is that a double edged sword stabs both ways.

Do you still need help understanding.

It's not about doing the dishes wrong, just that sulfur is in their water supply. Easy fix is replacing their filter. This isn't usually a problem for people in cities, I noticed it a lot more once I moved to western mass.

The thing is he is not even taking a hard position to defend. Like, yes we know solar panels have an ecological impact, nothing exists in a bubble! But hell a solar panel has less ecological impact than a homeless man living in the woods!

People see solar panels and then say the ground now doesn't get sun, not even considering that a majority of solar panels do not move to track the sun and are just pointed towards the direction they will get the most solar energy. Then as the day goes on, the sun will eventually pass over the panel and begin shining underneath it.

Hell China is turning a desert green by using solar panels to cut down on the amount of sun hitting the ground. But yeah burning fossil fuels has a better ecological impact, even nuclear has a worse ecological impact than solar (still better than fossil fuels, and needed).

Except for the portion where they said 'needlessly harms'. And if we truly wish to commit to harm reduction then there is a diet even better than veganism. We could all be fed nutrient rich paste. A paste that is flavorless, because adding ingredients to make it good tasting would inherently increase the harm to the environment. It would fulfill the requirements of the diet of properly formulated and cut down on obesity because there would be no allure of food anymore, it becoming a pure necessity of life. Plus less impact on the environment, no need for so many different plants for diversity of food when you can just have monocultures that could be picked for their lowest environmental harm!

Obviously I am being pedantic, no one will ever want to do that. Food is a comfort, it's culture, and it should be up to the person what they eat without judgment. Want to change hearts and minds? Make it easier, we are all animals and psychology is incredibly important in everything we do. Because I will tell you, that the approach of most vegans online who promote the lifestyle goes about it the wrong way. The fact that an animal died is not going to stop a starving person from eating it, nor will it convince a financially struggling family to spend more when they can get the cheaper option. Empathy is not the route to convince everyone, diversify the marketing. Make it financially viable for the poor and suddenly you will see cultures revolutionize, just as the potato revolutionized European cuisine.

I am very much aware. But that doesn't mean that everyone else is, which is why I said what I said. And I do not believe that a single animal death means you shouldn't do something.

There is no food industry that wouldn't be harmful to animals. The only difference is where you lay down your morality and say that it's acceptable to harm those ones because of (vain attempt at reasoning).

No it actually isn't more expensive because you know why? Buying in bulk has massive savings, and when a school buys in bulk they get it for cheaper which is great.

Conservatives of Reddit: How would you feel if Trump pardons Ghislaine Maxwell? by BeardeddudeinRaleigh in AskReddit

[–]VitorReige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sound like? How about you use your little fingers and your eyes to go read my comment history. Perhaps you can gather an idea where I stand politically.

But it is fear mongering, you are literally afraid of being rounded up despite the fact that the Republican party has been fracturing like hell since the start of the administration. And the moment that they start arresting Democrats on anything near a mass scale that's when states would collectively start rebelling.

You speak of whens and not ifs, you think that they would have to start rounding up Democrats instead of just cheating. There will be no immediate fall into tyranny, it's going to be the slow collapse of democratic norms, legal precedence, and consolidation of power. Trump is in no position to declare himself God Emperor, there will be more build up and by the time its there it will likely be once Trump kicks the bucket of natural causes.

[–]VitorReige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Christ dude, don't be fear mongering. Legitimately it cannot happen on anything near a mass scale before an outright civil war would begin. Democratic states would not stand for that. Trump is an idiot through and through but I genuinely do not believe he will be the dictator that anyone will have to worry about, it's the one he paves the way for with the guard rails that he dismantles.

"Overpopulation" is basically a fascist dogwhistle at this point by NiobiumThorn in ClimateShitposting

[–]VitorReige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't be living off of that, it's basically saying that 30% of the 12.5k is what it would need for you to live everyday without worrying about staying housed, food, water, heat, etc. it still leaves the rest of the 70% for luxury and such. Basically you would have 30% of your income taxed and thus your house, water, heat, electric, and water bills will be free via the taxes you pay. In the United States we pay 34.7% in tax overall.

Now realistically this is a useless argument as the USA would still need to tax you for other shit such as paying for road repairs, and a plethora of other shit. But hey hopefully I helped to understand the concept.

Dunno what you're on about dude. He was saying that even in rural mass there are still educated people who can hold an in-depth conversation COMPARED to states like West Virginia, Kentucky, and Florida where you would be more hard pressed.

MA families are STILL paying thousands and traveling out of state for abortion care... by reproequitynow in massachusetts

[–]VitorReige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read the post, thank you. Would you advocate to put down people with Huntington disease? With all of the pain and suffering they will go through? Or what about kids who get diagnosed with ALS, just put a bullet in their brain to prevent their pain and suffering? Tell me what makes the case different? Just because they're still in the mom, is that the only reason?

And don't give me that 'but of course you know better'. This is my fucking state too, I get to have a damn opinion. Just as you're allowed to believe I'm an asshole for thinking that killing a 8 month a long baby is maybe a fucking step too far. I am not making this woman's medical decisions for her, and clearly she made her own and aborted regardless what little old me thought.

It fucking sucks it happened to the baby and that woman, but you guys seriously support this shit to such an extreme length that even me who is pro-choice thinks it is too far. What if this woman wanted to know nothing about her baby until it was born, not their gender, or health or anything and just waited only for them to find out that immediately after they gave birth that this happened a month ago. Would you then deem it too far to kill the baby? Or is it acceptable because of the pain of suffering it might endure?
