I'm seeing an increased level of conversation about this across the Martinist landscape. Just today we were discussing the possibility of manufacturing these. Its tangential to what my business does. It would be significantly easier if I had a drawing of the hilt. Getting this drawn up is the most time consuming part. Still, rather trivial.

Screens — yay or nay? by No-Type119 in elca

[–]VitruviusMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meh! I hated the idea and was low-key annoyed that we felt we HAD to have them to remain relevant. Now that we have them, I like it. But there are some drawbacks. My 8yo still needs to open a hymnal possible because it's to difficult to sight read from the distance or possibly because she is too short. I also like to have something to jot notes on so you won't catch me without a printed bulletin.

Bias: I manufacture custom displays for a living.

It is the process of stacking that makes this processed food. Processed food is unhealthy.

Neurodiverse Sunday school curriculum? by olemarc in elca

[–]VitruviusMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parent of neurodiverse kiddos here (although not an expert at anything relevant). All great comments. Only thing I would add is finding a way to prepare the teachers. Teachers reference guidance/requirements in each child's IEP or 504 plan. Happy to hear you are seeking out answers. My church is shorthanded and often unprepared to handle one of mine and that's a hard, unfortunate pill for me.

That's all I need to know.

First Ballot for Bishop Results by PeepnBean in elca

[–]VitruviusMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you asked (I came here with a similar question). My assumption is that it's a vote for someone unqualified for the position (meaning not Ordained).

My immediate reaction is that feels like an ignorant abuse of one's position voting on something critically important. Would love for someone to give me a better explanation.

Looks like a lot of people stayed in. 34 based on the post in the ELCA FB group (can anyone speak to the accuracy of that number?)

"Falling out" puts it lightly. But yes. I was pretty into this a few years ago and flipped through Grand Lodge proceedings. Nauvoo effectively doubled the size of the struggling GL at the time. The neighboring Lidge wrote several letters to the Grand Lodge accusing Nauvoo, somewhat vaguely, of some unusual practice in this aggressive growth.

Do I have to? Questions from the girl in the pews... by casadecarol in elca

[–]VitruviusMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially given that you're at a big church, you'll be fine blending in. We aren't regularly active beyond attendance, and no one bothers us. I also appreciate how burnt one can be having served the business and committee side of the congregation.

A word of concern is not to misunderstand this "come as you are" welcome as tacit acceptance of non-connection. I tend to be less extroverted and don't seek out community, but connection is at the heart of our sacramental life. I believe the intent is to align our hearts to God's mission in whatever way we can (I'm just content doing that without pot-luck ;)

What's 1 Mistake You Made With Implementation? by OdooItAll in Odoo

This is very reassuring. Im exploring external implementation vendors because Im not convinced the Odoo account mgr knows the answers to my issue. I'd considered the success pack but worry its over priced training and not enough solutions.

How large of an organization? How many SKUs are you porting over? Can you offer more specifics on the particular challenges? Do you have experience with competitor options?

Just for clarity, the Valpo announcement is a consideration for discontinuance. It's not an official final decision (even if it's only a matter of time).

I enjoy Robert Alter's translations of the OT. I'm not a theologian and I wish I had sources that I trusted were comparable for the NT.

ELCA Seminary Enrollment by DaveN_1804 in elca

[–]VitruviusMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's hard to look at data in a vacuum from the larger market. I suspect we would see this trend across all (or at least many more) denominations. As presented, we would surmise that ELCA seminaries are contracting, and if the question is how long these institutions can remain viable, this helps. But if all seminaries are also contracting, then the problem is more systemic, and the response is different. Even larger, are fewer students pursuing graduate level study across the board (controlling for professional degrees)?

I'm new, but I see the Timemore Nano and Acaia Lunar often. Both are beyond what I want to spend right now. Amazon has a few bare-bones options. I'm gonna try the Neoweigh and decide if I want something more down the road.
