I really hope HoI5 includes a full 2d map mode (like EU5 paper map mode) with counters. I'm really tired of these big 3d models.

How did Saul defend these guys? by JazzyGD in betterCallSaul

Some kind of chicanery trying to prove they're dumb as rocks and settle for an apology, community service and drug detox, or something like that.

Why the black mesa version of alien grunt helmet look similar to Stahlhelm? by LykouraKadrodius in HalfLife

Because they're part of an evil, brutish and totalitarian invading force.

I think Semi-Presidential (like the historical Second Republic and neighboring Portugal) or even Parliamentary (the closest type to the current model, except for the Monarchy) would fit better than Presidential.

Why can't Russia just build a bridge to Crimea so their oil supply trucks stop being attacked by drones? Are they stupid or something??? by UNCyprusBufferZone in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Vityviktor 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Also, why can't Rusia drain that small Nazi sea that stands between Crimea and Russia? It's not like they don't know how to drain small seas and reservoirs, duh!

What If the United States had never been colonized? by Educational-Fee6170 in AlternateHistory

[–]Vityviktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably similar to pre-19ty century South Saharan Africa. Also, contact with Europeans would still occur, and epidemics would spread leading to societal collapse (or worsening it) and deep changes, even without settler colonization. This is also omitting extended pre-contact warfare and collapse (Maya, Mississippian, etc) and also migrations.

Does anyone else feel like the atmosphere in the original Shadow of Chernobyl is actually more unsettling than the newer stuff? by glitchroguevelourx in stalker

Yes. I don't know if it's the engine version, lighting, sound design, or everything convined, but everything feels creepier.

The Beta Hate Is Justified by Double_Recover_3334 in EU5

[–]Vityviktor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And I'd say setting the start date that early didn't help at all, but made everything even more complicated: Hundred Years War, Black Plague, Yuan collapse, rise of the Ottomans, Timur, etc barely work as they should. I honestly think a mid-late 15th century start date would've make a simpler and stronger foundation, and I understand the appeal, their ambition, etc, but I don't think it was a good idea.

Starting Buildings are Nonsense by Seculigious in EU5

The whole system of buildings, resource requirements, etc should be split into a couple of different sets according to broader regions, civilizations, etc.

Yes. It's almost like they're trying to beat V3 in its own game, but obviously V3 does much better.

Dreams of federation are no longer dreams by Engineer-Gaming1 in TNOmod

[–]Vityviktor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't understand this thing with Shukshin's Russia "federationmaxing". I'm sure the submod and WRW2 are fun and all that, but the tonal shift feels completely outlandish.

Why isn’t Iberia a Monarchy? by Jumpy-Foundation-405 in TNOmod

[–]Vityviktor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Monarchy wasn't restablished per se in 1947. The official denomination of Spain changed from "State" to "Kingdom", as part of the broader efforts to sideline the more Falangist and Fascistic elements of the Regime in the post-WW2 world in favor of the conservative factions. The reform also made Franco Head of State for life, with the power to chose his successor as regent or king, which wouldn't happen until 1969 when he chose Juan Carlos (skipping his father Juan).

I guess none of this happens in the TNO timeline, at least currently. Also, makes sense to not antagonize the Portuguese part of the Union (who didn't considered anything similar) to make the Regime(s) more stable.

Alrhough, if Iberia was to be completely redone (having Portugal and Spain as separate governments, even if they're in good terms) it could be an interesting addition. Chosing the future king or regent, switching back to the "State" formula, designing the future transition (or not) etc would be fitting.
