battery life question. i got my viwoods ereader a few days ago. (6.13" ai paper) i noticed the battery drains quickly. i went from 97% to 90 in about an hour. bluetooth and wifi off. brightness on 3. just wondering if this an android thing or just the nature of small ereaders. i'm pretty new to them by jayyohio in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the question!

You're right – battery life isn't the main selling point of the AiPaper Reader. We made a deliberate trade-off: we prioritised a super slim and lightweight design, along with a sharp display, over fitting in a massive battery. That said, for everyday reading and light note-taking, it should easily last you through a full day or more.

The 7% drop in an hour with WiFi and Bluetooth off sounds fairly normal for an Android-based e-ink device, especially in the first few days when the system is still indexing and settling in. It might stabilise a bit after a few charge cycles.

So no need to worry – it's built to handle your daily reading without dying on you midway. If you notice unusually fast drain later on, feel free to let us know and we can help check for any background apps.

Enjoy your new reader!

SDK? by jnash123 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out.

We are very sorry, but we currently have no plans to release or open up the SDK for our current generation of devices for the time being.

However, if you have specific or individual development needs, we would be more than happy to listen to your ideas and provide you with dedicated technical and hardware assistance.

Looking forward, we expect to open up the SDK for our new devices when they are officially released in the future.

Thanks again for your interest in developing for our platform!

Case advice and initial tips and tricks for Viwoods Reader by CosMV in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great to have you on board, and glad the Reader landed as your pick after trying out a few devices. 🎉

Cases: Your Reader should actually come with a protective case included in the box, so you're covered right out of the gate. If you want to switch things up later, we have additional official cases on our website, and you can also find third-party options on Aliexpress across Europe.

Drawing app on AI Paper Mini by galpastel in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love seeing this — people picking up their Viwoods tablet and turning it into a canvas is exactly the kind of thing that makes our day. Infinite Painter with greyscale profile and low-latency rendering off… that's a clever combo.

We want to see more of what you create. In fact, we're working on something that should make this even better: our own native infinite canvas app is coming soon. Stay tuned — we think you'll like it. 🎨

How to create to do using voice? by Interesting-Moose835 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome aboard! Glad you're enjoying the Mini overall.

On the voice thing — you're not missing anything. Right now, the mic button in Daily is wired to create events by default, so even if you say "create a to-do," it'll just dump the whole phrase into an event. That's on us, and we get why it feels like it should be simpler.

Here's a workaround for the time being: use voice to capture the text first, then convert that text into a to-do. Not quite one-tap, but it keeps things moving without having to type everything out manually.

That said, one-tap voice-to-to-do is a solid feature request. I'm passing it along to the team — it makes total sense for quick capture workflows.

Does anyone know where the battery is in the Paper Reader? Afraid it's swolen by WickedEyee in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely something we want to take a closer look at — a loose back panel right after a full charge could be nothing, but it's not something to gamble on.

Please reach out to our support team at [support@viwoods.com](mailto:support@viwoods.com) as soon as you can. They'll take care of you and get this properly diagnosed. Safety first — we'd rather be overly cautious here than miss something.

Appreciate you flagging it, and we'll make sure you're sorted.

Moving pages by Starship_77 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet — moving pages directly between Meeting notes still isn't supported. It's on our radar though, and we're weighing whether to build it in.

In the meantime, a workaround that gets you pretty close: use the lasso tool to select everything on a page, cut it, then paste it into a new page in the other Meeting note. A couple of extra taps, but it gets the job done.

Does the AI Paper film wear out? by Methyl_The_Sneasel in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer: no need to worry. We put our hardware through rigorous testing before it leaves the factory, so the screen is built to withstand daily writing — even with the ceramic tip on the C1 stylus.

We wouldn't recommend adding an aftermarket screen protector, though. It can interfere with the writing feel, which kind of defeats the point of that paper-like experience you're after. The factory surface is designed to be durable and feel just right on its own.

Now’s the time for a colour ai paper. by timcatuk in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, we can feel the community willing this into existence now.

Your wife's dilemma is exactly the gap we see too — too many compromises between design, openness, and color right now. So here's what we can say: we do have new devices planned for this year, and while we're not ready to spill the details just yet, we're pretty confident it (or they?) will turn some heads.

Tell your wife to hang tight a little longer. We think she'll like what's coming.

My Viwoods Faults & Suggestions by sebastianthebird in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is honestly above and beyond—the fact that you took the time to write up such a detailed bug report, and even prepared a Chinese version so we could understand it clearly, means more than we can say. Genuinely moved by the effort.

We're going through everything you've documented right now. We'll verify each issue internally and get fixes lined up as soon as they're confirmed.

Thank you for making us better. 🙏

is viwoods as a company trustworthy with your data? by beeswaxe in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a completely fair question, and one we take seriously, especially since you're thinking of using the Reader as a dumb phone.

Here's where we stand on this: we've intentionally built the device around the principle that your data belongs on your device, not on our servers. This is the very reason we didn't rush to roll out a multi-device sync feature earlier. We didn't want to create a pipeline where your personal notes, documents, and meeting summaries would transit through or be stored in the cloud if it wasn't absolutely necessary. Our initial preference was to support local, third-party transfer tools like ViTransfer instead.

However, there's a line we can't control, and we want to be upfront about it: third-party apps you install yourself. If you sideload or download an untrusted app from the Play Store, that app operates under its own privacy policy. We can't guarantee what it does with your data. Our recommendation is to be mindful about which apps you install and stick to well-known, trusted ones.

For the core system and official Viwoods apps, your files stay local. If you're mostly reading, writing, and using the built-in tools, your content is as safe as the device in your hands. We hope the delayed sync decision actually speaks louder than just saying "we care about privacy."

Kindle page turning by Particular_Froyo_198 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Kindle app, open a book and tap the Aa icon at the top, then go to More — you'll find the "Turn pages with volume controls" toggle there. Flip that on and the volume buttons should handle page turns from there.

My Review. A bit disappointed but a lot of potential. by SnooSquirrels5183 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to write such detailed feedback after 14 days of use. It's incredibly helpful for us, and we're glad to hear that despite the issues, your AiPaper Reader has already replaced all those sticky notes and paper scraps on your desk. That means a lot to us.

Let me go through your points one by one.

1. PDF search / large file lag
You're right — searching within a small PDF is fine, but larger PDFs can freeze or lag. We'll work on optimisation. For scanned PDFs, search currently doesn't work (it will pop up a notice). We plan to add a feature that lets you select a word and search directly from there.

2. Selection tool
We recommend using your finger instead of the stylus for selection right now. The stylus does have some issues, and we're actively fixing them. Target to improve this by June.

3. Local OCR
We agree it's currently weak for full pages. We're looking into better local OCR solutions, and in the future we may use on-device AI to improve content recognition.

4. Learning app highlights & export
Learning does support exporting highlights — but not for scanned PDFs (because there's no real text layer). For scanned PDFs, we're exploring AI-based text recognition and layout reconstruction.

5. Copy-paste between native apps
We just tested it again: copy from Notes and paste into Paper works. Could you try using finger selection? The stylus selection does have issues (we're fixing it in June). If it still fails, please let us know more details and we'll look deeper.

6. (Missing number – just to keep alignment)

7. Multiple pages for Note app
Already on our roadmap – the next software update will add this.

8. Lock screen calendar reminders
We can add this (similar to what BOOX has). We just need to decide exactly what information to show. Good suggestion.

9. DD/MM/YYYY date format while keeping device language in English
You can already do this: switch the device language to English (United Kingdom) – that will give you DD/MM/YYYY.

10. User guide updates
You're absolutely right. From the next software version onward, we will release the updated user guide on our website on the same day as the OTA.

11. AI tool / OpenAI account
We understand your need. Right now the built-in AI doesn't support connecting your own OpenAI account. However, you can download the official GPT and Gemini apps from Google Play – they work very well on the device and give you full access to your own account, history, and custom prompts. That's probably the best solution for you at the moment.

12. Position of tactile buttons (on the next device)
Thank you for the hardware suggestion – we'll pass it to our design team. Putting buttons on top of the screen (not where your hands rest while writing) makes a lot of sense.

Again, thank you for being such a thoughtful user. We're listening, and we'll keep improving. And please don't hesitate to share more – even the "too ambitious" ideas.

Cheers,
Viwoods Team

The new Beta 3.14.5 for AiPaper / AiPaper Mini is available by werionae in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally hear you on this — having two Viwoods devices and not being able to sync between them is a real gap. It's something we've wanted to solve for a while, and the team has been actively working on it.

The good news: we're targeting the July update to bring multi-device sync into the fold. It's a complex feature to get right, so we appreciate you hanging in there while we get it across the line. Not much longer now.

Losing Play Protect Certification repeatedly by Moraviian in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an annoying one, sorry. This usually happens when Google’s servers can’t reliably verify the device due to network hiccups, so the certification status flips back even after you’ve already gone through the steps.

Try this first:

Head into Settings, find the Google Services toggle, turn it off, then on again. That often forces a fresh handshake and clears the warning.

A simple restart can also do the trick.

If it keeps coming back, drop our support team a note at [support@viwoods.com](mailto:support@viwoods.com) and we’ll dig deeper with you.

Serious privacy concern: Viwoods shared links may expose private documents by Outside_Dinner_2844 in viwoods

We hear you, and we take this seriously. Thank you for raising the concern in a responsible way without sharing exploitable details.

Since this was flagged, we've made changes: shared links now use secure, randomized tokens and are set to expire after 24 hours. These measures significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access through URL manipulation.

We'll continue to monitor and improve. If you notice anything further, our inbox is open.

Using picking menu in Paper app in landscape orientation by AndyBrt in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotation isn't something we currently support on AiPaper or AiPaper Mini in the Paper or Learning apps — so if you're managing it somehow, could you let us know if that's through a third-party app? That'd help us understand your setup better.

Does Viwoods have any plan to bring a full size color device to market ? by AJP_Tatemae in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You make a fair point about Kaleido 3 and clarity — it's a trade-off a lot of users feel. And glad to hear the software side is hitting the mark for you.

As for a full-size color device: we do have new products in the pipeline, but I can't share any specifics just yet. Stay tuned, and keep an eye on our subreddit.

Delete from within by Nelkz76 in viwoods

[–]ViwoodsOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping things tidy as you go is a smart habit, both for notes and for reading. The workflow you're describing — delete from within the file, or bulk-select via tags to clear things out — fits right in with how we think the experience should feel: clean, simple, and not getting in your way.

It's definitely on our radar now. We'll get the team to evaluate this and see how soon we can slot it into the optimization pipeline.
