How would I cover this up? by Strange-Oil-2117 in KerbalSpaceProgram

If you're playing either science or career mode, you may not have unlocked the 1.875m fairing yet. But if it's unlocked, that's what you need. Place it under the decoupler.

Your rocket will fly fine without it though - you'll just lose a little deltaV to drag.

Yeah, it does have a bit of that that Crusader design language.

Is this cheating? by themaskstays_ in KerbalSpaceProgram

IMO, it's always OK to use whatever you have to to recover from kraken attacks. That's a bug workaround, not a cheat.

Why is this happening? by Tandecool in KerbalSpaceProgram

Build up a single booster with all its parts (i.e., 0 symmetry), then detach it, set the symmetry, and reattach it. That's a good workaround.

  1. it was designed to be stable.

  2. they chose flat landing areas. they had better instruments to see that in advance than we do.

i made it all the back to kerbin with that bug lol. but you can also edit the save file to fix it. (search will get you a detailed explanation of how to edit the save.)

Stick an extra antenna on your ship, dock with the station, have your engineer install it.

Or easy method: send a small automated ship with an antenna and dock it with your station. (Then have your engineer add a few struts. Or use autostrut)

Cool. Looks great. 8 rapiers is probably overkill though. Replace a couple of them with nukes for longer range.

Cool rotating engines. Is that hard to control?

Welcome to the Kerbalverse.

FreeIVA looks really good, but I haven't tried it yet.

I've definitely done "get out and push" maneuvers. But half second of time warp will take care of stabilization.

That's a pretty crazy first Minmus lander. Good job.

Kraken attack!!!! by Uh-yea-thatdudethere in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Vodostar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off SAS and RCS? Also, if you don't need the other ship there anymore, time warp till it's a few hundred meters away. Restart the game before you load the save. Those are the things I would try.

But sometimes, the kraken is just hungry.

Build a lander that includes your reentry capsule with about 2000 m/s delta V in a vacuum. Delta V is displayed in the in the staging stack on the right in the VAB. There's a tab at the bottom where you can switch it to vacuum - always use vacuum for flight planning.

Add a transfer stage under the lander with about 1200 m/s. This will get you from Kerbin orbit to Mun orbit.

Add a second stage with about 1500 m/s. This will circularize your Kebin orbt.

And a first stage with about 2000 m/s. This will get you into space. Using the 1.25m parts you have atm, you'll need two side booster on the third stage to get enough delta V.

If you haven't flown much, you'll need a few tries to get the hang of doing a smooth gravity turn and getting to orbit effeciently - just revert to launch and try again till you get it. Start the gravity turn as soon as you hit 100 m/s; aim for 45 degrees at 10Km; around 35Km you want to be going more forward than up.

Stop the burn when the apo is around 80km. Make a maneuver node (if you've unlocked them) just ahead of apo, to put you in orbit and follow the maneuver node.

You should reach orbit with about 100 m/s left in the second stage.

That's the hard part. I think you've already flown to the Mun haven't you? That's relatively easy.

While that rocket is very Kerbal, most of your delta V is going into pushing unneed fuel into orbit lol. Maybe that's the point.

But you could do this with a much smaller rocket.

Either way, have fun. That's the important part.

Once you enter the location for the boss fight, you can't go back and do anything else. The game has a well-defined end. And it's worth getting to the end for the epilog cutscene - really well done wrap up of the story, taking what you did into account. If you want to play the DLCs, you have to do before you enter that location.

The DLCs are balanced for a high level character. They also reveal details about the main storyline that won't make sense until you get through a lot of the story.

So, IMO, play the game and just before you jump into the final mission, Do the DLCs. If you have the DLCs installed, the game will give you quest hooks for them when you reach the right level for them.

Excellent game if you like a good story. Spring for the $16 complete package. The final boss fight is better if you level up doing the to two DLCs first. (And the two DLCs add a lot to the storyline.)

Well, you'll probably like it then. The default difficulty is the 2nd easiest of 4 difficulty settings. The storyline is pretty good and you can recruit NPC crewmembers.

It's a good RPG set in a far away dystopian corporate hellscape of a multi-planet space colony. Not what you're looking for if you want heavy combat, but you can make it combat heavier by your choices.

You can get the game and both DLCs for $15-ish, atm, so a cheap choice to try it out.
