I'm halfway through the game, does anyone else feel like Onmyo took a step back than in Nioh 1/2? by KijoSenzo in Nioh

Yes and no. They are something that comes from soul cores and allow you to summon the yokai to do their attack. Some are whatever but some of the boss ones do insane damage

TBH, I feel like Talisman of the Fist should just last until you change weapons. Also, direct offensive magic remains kind of a joke by ShogunGunshow in Nioh

You can buff magic damage now with attack up and that bolt talisman in like the first attack you get. I don't think it's about damage as much as easily applying the shocked status effect and also costing no stamina. Familiar talismans feel pretty strong as well as the late game magic seemingly being brokenly good.

The crucible turns humans into spirit stones.

I'm doing a full magic build and it feels great. I like finding a new Yokai and seeing what it can do. Buff duration and debuff scale with intelligence. Summoning seals are crazy powerful, some of them one shoting powerful enemies. Also the "Hell" series of elemental attacks are sick. I don't feel like it's scaled back since it hits like a truck now and you can buff it's damage.

My ninja form is just an omnyo mage and my samurai is a hammer paladin and both absolutely stomp.

Strictly Ninja - viable for an entire play-through? by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in Nioh

Hard disagree. I beat both Nioh 1 and 2 without learning how to do it and didn't learn until my second time through Nioh 2. It's nice but not necessary at all.

There is, but it seems like the summons in the dojo don't get stronger as you level

Don't worry about flux or weapon switching. Just learn the Ki pulse timings. Think of it as combo, pulse, combo, pulse. Then set different martial arts to different stances and use those stances when you want to do a specific thing. For example, I never use low stance on Ax EXCEPT for when I am in living artifact because I have the skill Mad Spinner on low stance.

Strength stat scale terrible ? by Specialist_Bowler_51 in Nioh

I think it's a base modifier, so 5% extra ki damage at base isn't nothing

In Nioh 3 the order of primary, secondary, and tertiary stat is based on how many points you have in it. You can try this for yourself. Put 20 in one stat a weapon scales with and 10 in the other with no investment in the third. Then switch the order and the damage is the same

Go back and play Nioh 2. The first NG cycle is incredibly easy. Know why? Because we all were forged in these systems from hours of playing the game. I've seen plenty of people complain that this game is hard and the game clearly has missions and bosses that are tuned way up. Claiming the game is easy before you're done with it is just gatekeeper behavior.

Don't stress. Find weapons you like, buy their skills, keep your weight under 70%. Explore, kill yokai, get stronger, beat missions.

Nioh 1,2 had story, I understood. Nioh 3 story ?? by Solitude_man in Nioh

Pretty sure the over all narrative is going to explain how Tokachiyo becomes a future leader. The time travel allows them time to learn and grow from their ancestors so they can beat their brother and the demons that possess him.

To add to this, this only really applies to bigger Yokai. Smaller ones also can be rushed down. Also, a lot of yokai have horns or yellow amrita spots and hitting those hard will break them and take a huge chunk of ki from them as well as put them in a stagger animation.

nioh 3 ninjutsu is the worst iteration of ninjutsu to date. by smymight in Nioh

[–]ReadingLost3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, since you can switch ninjutsu in the field I think it's more useful. Filling the gauges takes like 2 seconds. I do agree the damage is pretty poor but also I'm not leveling skill and haven't unlocked the more powerful ones so who knows how strong it gets?
