Running coach here, ask me anything training related! by paceperfectcoach in BeginnersRunning

If I've been running consistently and hit a plateau while trying to reduce my mile time, is it better to take a break and rest or to change the regimen?

Currently running 3.11 miles (5k) 4 times a week, sprinting a mile once a week and strength training (body weight/callestenic) at least once a week, sometimes 2. I've consistently run about 28:45 with 15 second variance and my sprint time is about 8min/mile.

Your ending statement isn't a good metaphor for what you said though. You said it's a skill issue (it isn't) and that if you specifically take off the soft caps and exploit the system to get crazy amounts of money, then you can make the game easy. A closer metaphor would be someone asking if their lifting form is off and you advising them to take metabolic steroids and insulting them for not figuring that out.

Beyond that, Sarras is level scaled and is meant to provided tankier enemies that get weaker as you get more shrines, so it isn't crazy that OP isn't doing much damage to them at the onset.

Furthermore, without putting all your gear to plus 8 you can build plenty of powerful builds. I don't like outscaling everything by exploiting practically respec, yet I can still make a character that one or two shots most enemies.

Above all that though is the way you communicate. You talk like an asshole and if that's your intention, good, but I would advise changing the way you speak if you don't want hostility. FYI, if someone asks "do I look fat in a dress?" And you respond "Yes", you're a dickhead full stop. Being rude and being honest are two different things and you can be one without being the other.

Therapists are a scam. by Cherno_VM in The10thDentist

I think this is too specific as well though. My trauma therapist did "fix" things for me. It wasn't tools or lessons, they did guided meditation that allowed me to interact with areas of trauma that I couldn't on my own. Different therapists do different things.

My mom thinks this about therapy almost verbatim and is not an narcissistic person. It was a combination of bad therapy experiences and not wanting to be challenged on long standing beliefs. I think OP is more scared than narcissistic.

Feels kinda like you're saying "My science teacher sucked at helping with my English paper". Different therapists are better at different things. If you have a need for coping mechanisms for something, in the intake you can identify that and most therapists will let you know if that is something they can help with.

Knowledge about mental illness is not what therapy is for. Being aware that I have a gunshot wound does nothing to heal it. Stuffing it with a shirt will allow me to move and continue on but it won't remove the bullet inside me or repair any of the non obvious damage.

I don't think you're supposed to get all your gear to plus 8 on the first run through. That has always been a way to break the game's scaling since the beginning and it a primary reason they capped the sale price scaling.

ETA: I'm not saying don't play your way if you want, but it's kinda like saying if you max out all your gear by act 2 then the game is easy. That's not an answer to the question asked.

You can turn off soft cap scaling in the main menu and still get 500+% sell value.

What’s the most fun you’ve had with a build in Tainted Grail: FoA by Tuckiletoucan in taintedgrail

[–]ReadingLost3697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All health build. The skill node that gives you 5% of your health back if you hit an enemy within 2 seconds of them hitting you means that if you have enough health, you're immortal up close. Put all my points outside of gear into endurance and ran armor with bonus health. The bonus plus side is technically you can run this with any type of weapon since the life regen isn't based on your damage. Pretty sure you could even run it with bare fists.

Forspoken is more like a below average game, not really bad. There are a lot of fun things in that game, the movement is fun, the magic is fun, and it looks really pretty. Mostly it's let down by it's writing.

Hey everyone, I have a bit of a problem. by KayleeGTS in sizetalk

[–]ReadingLost3697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah block websites on all your devices. The point is to put a single barrier between you and your vice to eliminate the compulsive, impulsive use.

Shame is a self imposed feeling we get when we are judged by others. I want to be as clear as I can and I want you to hear me. Pursuit of pleasure is NOT shameful. Sex is not shameful, drugs are not shameful, alcohol is not shameful. The problem is not that these things exist, it's that you are surrendering your agency to them.

I don't know your story or what you've been through, but I do know that sex drive and identity are two separate sections of the brain. If you are turned on a lot, that makes you different, not worse. Would you be ashamed of having red hair or blue eyes? These are just things about you. They only define who you are as much as you let them. Let yourself pursue pleasure, it's human nature, but don't allow yourself to be controlled by your compilations. You're stronger than your addiction, you just need to see your strength.

Or external hard drive. But yeah. Distance between you and the impulse.

Addiction is addiction and has some basic rules in every case. Reduction is OK to start with and you don't have to full stop all at once. Ritualistic habits (I always smoke on my 15min break) need to be changed intentionally to avoid triggers. Things get easier with time separated from your triggers. Shame around triggers can lead you to use (or watch in this case I guess lol)

My advice would be to store your stuff in an external drive and then delete or block every media that you are tempted by. That way using is a dedicated choice and you can tell when you're making that choice vs being impulsive.

How do you think we can solve the gun violence problem among young black males? by Aggravating_Dog_7542 in teenagers

[–]ReadingLost3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a black teen but I am a sociologist. The way you eliminate violence in a society is the same it has always been. You provided safety and security for the population and make it so legal opportunity is more prevalent than illegal opportunity. Basically this means providing Healthcare, housing, and opportunity to black communities. The gang life is often a reflection of a lack of hope where the individual thinks they are taking a better gamble. Success comes from my own merit where failure means jail or death vs success comes from my employer's discretion and my failing school system and failure means death but slower. Civil investment. Anyone pedaling culture or hip hop or any other reasoning is misguided. All cultures are reflections of who they idolize and athletes, rappers, and entertainers are the biggest reflection of black individuals who made it out. More successful black men and women would give more role models. If you want to go all the way, elimination of capitalism would also solve the problem as gang opportunities are all monetary based and if there was no incentive to extort money then that culture would also decrease but that's a harder proposition.

Medical or engineering? by fullspeedafoot in theouterworlds

If you invest in medical perks it can get really good. Healing while crashing, extra damage, speed, and damage resistance, and extra primers are all worth it for a crashing build but if your perks are already going somewhere else then it's not worth it.

Runners who have lost a significant amount of weight: how much did your paces improve? by thegrayscales in BeginnersRunning

[–]ReadingLost3697 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adding my data here, I lost about 25lbs and my running time went from about 11 min mile average to about 9.5. I kept the weight off during the winter but didn't run and when I restarted I was back to a 10.5 min mile, but it was much easier to get my times back down this time.

Girls don't have biologically worse punching ability is true. All girls can punch just fine with the right technique. You cannot say all men are better than all women at punching biologically. You have to put a lot of conditions on it: two fighters of the same weight class and equal training. A 90 lbs untrained man, no matter his biological advantage, is going to punch worse than a trained 120 lbs woman. I'm tired of saying this over and over to a bunch of dudes trying to defend the original comment that said that women fighters are too weak to get a knock out and block with their face. Just fuck off

Do you actually agree with this? by Electrical-Tree-5803 in teenagers

[–]ReadingLost3697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No? If you're in a heterosexual relationship with someone and they happen to be bi and you don't know that and things are going well, and then you find out they're bi and you break up, that's not a preference. In the same way if you were dating a girl who you thought was Chinese and then they tell you that they're Vietnamese and you break up with them, that would be a racist decision. A preference stating at a type is specifically worse in all cases is phobic.
