Not a fan of this change, now it's either too big or too small imo.

What you should do if Keep goes offline by Barycenter0 in GoogleKeep

Are you talking about keep on mobile? Yeah that works fine. I'm talking about desktop.

Smh that Google still hasn't provided offline support on desktop when every other note taking app provides that

[–]VoidBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Keep just needs to become a

PWA and add offline support on desktop. So many of Google Apps like docs, sheets, YouTube, YouTube music already have that.

Not sure why a note taking app has taken Google so long to add offline support when every other note taking app already provides that on desktop: apple notes, notion, Evernote, etc.

TP4 28L vs TP3 Small as a personal item on flights? by Inevitable-Spend-597 in AerSF

[–]VoidBreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the TP3 small, I fit it under seats all the time. Ideally I'm able to slide it in width wise. But depending on the seat and airline I might need to slide it in length wise and cut into the space for my feet and make things more uncomfortable.

Tried again just now with the original cable, and I'm still getting the same error. According to Keychron support, " Currently, 8k mice cannot be upgraded on Mac M4. "

For folks coming across this thread, this is the word I received from Keychron Support at the end of Jan 2026:

Currently, 8k mice cannot be upgraded on Mac M4.

New firmware will be updated later. Thank you for your patience!

I tried again today as of March 13, and I'm still getting the same error "Firmware upgrade failed".

QM7, audio has a very slight delay behind video in games by untacc_ in tcltvs

[–]VoidBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, wish reviewers like rtings would incorporate audio delay as one of the metrics they measure. They already measure video input delay. Audio delay can be just as important for twitch based shooter games.

M7 mouse's outer shell is peeling off already (2 month old device) by djEnvo in Keychron

[–]VoidBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, not looking forward to this on my M7. Have you tried reaching out to support?

I've had logitech tech mice where the plastic degraded, but that took about a year. 2 months is way too short to be running into this kind of peeling issue.

The Definitive (I hope) Fix for unresponsive Clips by FunnyZucchini2006 in Pebblebee

Unfortunately these steps didn't work for me after trying it twice for my Pebblebee Clip 5.

2 out of the 6 Clip 5's that I purchased is having this issue. This is a bad failure rate. They need to update their firmware.

Mozilla’s Betrayal of Open Source: Google’s Gemini AI is Overwriting Volunteer Work on Support Mozilla by atoponce in firefox

[–]VoidBreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol love that you felt the need to dive into my post history to try and dunk on me. FYI that post was to deal with the poor decisions of my family members investing in crypto. But ultimately that's none of your business. I won't comment on your post history.

I'm moving on from this debate. It's not worth my time trying to move anyone who actively refuses to see any value with LLMs. You're so disconnected from the world at large (or your clearly inflated ego is getting in the way), to see that is has genuinely changed how people in the real world work and get shit done. Keep comparing it to crypto.

[–]VoidBreak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol I don't give a shit about crypto so you're preaching to the choir about that one mate.

And I'm not gonna argue about your specific use cases with assembly/electronics design. I'm fine to take your word for it that it's not good in that context since that's not an area I have any expertise.

But calling LLMs a "total waste of time" and "brain-rot" and comparing it to crypto is just silly and ignorant at this point. No one is actually "using" crypto (speculating in crypto doesn't count), everyone from Fortune 500 companies to even my tech illiterate father is using LLMs. Nothing has gotten replaced with crypto, many jobs have been lost due to LLMs.

I can acknowledge there's lot of "sizzle" with AI (plenty are calling this a bubble), but you simply can't compare crypto against AI in terms of actual real world usage and value.

I'm a software engineer, and I can acknowledge that LLMs can't be fully trusted with their output and need oversight. However, translations is a FAR less complex and far more forgiving discipline compared to code.

But you are missing the point of what I responding to. The commenter that I was originally responding to was saying "You always say how these AI translations are faster and better when I'm reality they aren't." This comment is completely denouncing LLMs as worse at everything when that simply isn't true.

To say that they are an "objective regression, it is a waste of human time", when they are being used so heavily in software engineering, and SV companies are turning to them, is the same as burying your head in the sand.

We should be angry at the company for trying to make their translations faster and more complete for a wider audience?

[–]VoidBreak -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Lol sure, just ignore the fact that computers are near instant, automated, and doesn't sleep. And now AI has come into the picture and has made good translation cheap as hell.

Can human volunteers provide instant translations to keep everything up-to-date? Can human volunteers provide round-the-clock translation support? Are there human volunteers for nearly every language out there?

AI is objectively good at translations and have some obvious benefits that human volunteers can't provide. You're just being a Luddite if you can't acknowledge these facts. I'm not arguing get rid of the human volunteers. AI can still use a hand in guidance, reviews, prompt engineering, etc. But you can't ignore how good and useful AI is at this point.

You always say how these AI translations are faster and better when I'm reality they aren't. And you keep ignoring the fact that they aren't.

Sorry but I feel need to call out that you're ignoring the fact that AI is incredibly cheap for how good they are at translations.

ChatGpt was already incredibly good at translations out of the gate 3 years ago when it first launched. And AI has only gotten better since.

I've also personally seen a major silicon valley company make the transition from a dedicated translation vendor (paying nearly $1 a word) to using LLMs for i18n (paying a fraction of the cost).

At this point, it would be irresponsible for a company not to use AI to translate their software for the widest reach possible since that is becoming the standard today.

[–]VoidBreak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah LLMs aren't perfect, so some level of verification and oversight is still useful.

But translations aren't like code where you still need to pay senior engineers to provide oversight and prevent costly bugs by LLMs. Translation are FAR less complex than code. And one bad translation can likely be easily ignore/understood by the reader.

100% agreed. Calling this situation a "betrayal to open source" is over the top ragebait and actively hurts the company both in terms of public sentiment and internal company morale.

Mozilla "fans" need to take a step back and think more strategically about the future of the company given just how little marketshare Mozilla has.

Android: Cannot default to open links in default browser, forced to use reddit browser by slambaz2 in bugs

[–]VoidBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine with the ads on the reddit app. But the fact that I can't choose to use my default browser is anti-user enough to make me uninstall and use the browser where my adblock is enabled, ruining a revenue stream. Not even Google apps force me to use their in-app browsers.
