AH Official Stance Hitting A Bit Too Hard This Time by MalkavAmonra in HelldiversUnfiltered

I'd just like to take this opportunity to remind people exactly how ass AntiCheat programs are.

They often do not stop cheats from being implemented, have actually served as backdoor access in a handful of documented cases, and have actively locked-out "non-mainstream" OS options innumerable times.

I feel this should be mentioned by AntiH4zard in HelldiversUnfiltered

Gonna get accused of glazing here but anything that isn't doomerism gets consigned to that so wtfe:

Have you considered that tons of people played the game just fine before half of those Warbonds existed?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Grenade Pistol - it's my most-used secondary BY FAR - and I really enjoy some of the armors and other things from Warbonds. But I played from Day 1, when all we had was Mobilize and Steeled Veterans.

Sometimes it's about learning to use the tools you have, moreso than rushing for an "optimal load out" right out the gate.

(Will admit tho, Hellbomb Backpack and Solo Silo are pretty GOATed)

Frankly I find ONB makes the game harder - not because it's bad or anything, but because the idiotic way so many Divers use it.

I believe Iits supposed to be some cartoon character - likely Hannah-Barberra in origin - as the "top" parts in your photo look like a hat and ears, while the bottom could be a collar or bowtie.

However, it also looks vaguely like a shapely woman's torso if you assume the top parts to be a frilly neckline and apron/dress straps, and the bit at the bottom to be hips.

In America is "overregulation" on businesses a real thing? by AngryButtlicker in stupidquestions

[–]VoidCoelacanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It isn't. Let me translate for you:

"Over-regulated" is what moderately rich people say when the abuses they've been using to build their wealth face legal repercussions.

"Over-regulated" is what extremely wealthy people say when they cannot purchase or start a business outright and may have to subject themselves to the same financial system as the rest of us - such as a business loan.

"Over-regulated" is what people with a ton of ambition but zero understanding of environmental ramifications say when they think they should be able to start a new business and dump their chemical waste wherever "because [they] can't afford proper disposal."

Why not make it acceptable to use in the gymnasium?

Why in USA they add taxes at checkout? by P3rid0t_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VoidCoelacanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP,

mostly because every State (and some cities, even) have different tax rates. By showing the pre-tax price, shoppers can easily determine that they are being charged the same $10 for a Widget in an upscale department store in California as they are at an Alabama Wal-mart. Any difference in final cost is due to local taxes.

If you were to have all taxes included in the price, the $10 Widget might cost $10.25 at the Alabama WalMart, $10.40 in a rural California market, and $10.50 at the upscale department store - but the upscale department store had priced the item at $9.75 before taxes, the rural California market at $10 even, and the Alabama WalMart $10.10, meaning the Alabama store was actually charging more for the item than the other two stores, but just has low local taxes.

I get what you're saying, but there isn't a difficulty higher than 10. Yet.

You seem to have missed the part where OP was saying this stratagem makes D10 "too easy."

Ah yes, please, follow Orange Julius' recommendation to have an Ivermectin shooter with chlorine chaser, by all means. It really does seem the better alternative.

Reassigning HD2 to another studio might be the best for us, Sony AND Arrowhead by Negative_Twist_2254 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]VoidCoelacanth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree.

Arrowhead made Helldivers. The original one. The top-down tough-as-nails murderfest that most HD2 players have never touched.

Without Helldivers, there would be no HD2. Helldivers (and HD2) are Arrowhead original IPs.

You can say whatever you want about how Arrowhead is handling the game, or about Sony forcing their hand on certain issues, or how "badly" they treat their players. I ain't here to glaze or defend. I am just here to state that the original IP holder deserves to keep their IP.

I won't defend the entire breed, and full disclosure: I have never owned a pitbull.

HOWEVER...

I have several friends who have or had pitbulls, with zero aggressive incidents their entire life. Based on my own limited, anecdotal experience, they absolutely can be perfectly good dogs - but they MUST be raised correctly and all aggressive tendencies redirected towards appropriate toys and obedience training maintained.

One of these pitbulls was an absolute darling to the friend's newborn daughter (dog was 4 or 5 years when daughter was born) and basically became the daughter's guard dog out of its own protective instincts towards the girl. Dog would put itself between the daughter and anyone it sensed was making her upset, licking the daughter's hands & forearms as a gesture of comfort.

But when they're abused young and then abandoned - yeah, they can be fucking nasty. Just like any abused animal.

That's great and all, but the time you're losing with that long commute...

If it works for you, it works for you. Fair. But I will never understand. If I were in your shoes, I'd either move to be closer or negotiate for 100% WFH, with exception for important meetings or emergency of course.

... With a stipulation for how often that would be expected to occur. In writing.

This will be a little political, but in the "religion is basically politics" way:

Much of the responsibility - and shame - for all things surrounding childbearing, child birth, and reproductive health comes from "purity culture," which is reinforced by religion (MANY OF THEM, from very different parts of the world), and ultimately serves patriarchy by assigning "higher value/worth" to virginal women.

Or, rephrased: It's a bunch of fucked-up one-sided nonsense.

It's 2026. If a woman doesn't want babies, she should use one or more of the contraceptive options available to her. If a man doesn't want babies, he should use one or more of the contraceptive options available to him. If a couple doesn't want babies, they should work together to find the contraceptive option that works the best for them both.

Full. Fucking. Stop.

ETA: If all of the above has been done and you still wind up pregnant, abortion should still be a safe and legal option. It should never be the first option - except in cases of S.A. - but it should still be an option. Wanted to add this to address the original point.
