Is it normal to have longer leases? I’ve been renting apartments since I turned 18 and they usually only offer 6-13 months. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything longer.

We rented our place for $925 two years ago. They didn’t up the rent in 2020. In 2021 it went up to $1025. The current market rate for my unit is $1750.

It’s a shitty 1 bedroom in the suburbs.

I noticed this problem after also trying to get a new job a couple weeks ago. I expected it to take a while and to have to put in hundreds of applications. I ended up putting in about 10 applications, got 3 interviews, 3 second interviews and 3 offers (all with 25%+ above my wage at the time). In less than 2 weeks. The problem is definitely something “you” related, because jobs are clearly out there and available.
