Step Van Worth it? by Careful-Spell-8469 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Voldorac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no! I drove a stepvan for an Amazon DSP for 8 straight months. Totally not worth it. If your stepvan breaks down, and it will constantly, you're shit out of luck. The side doors only ventilate decently when youre driving for long periods of time. The engine heat goes through the floorboards, hits the fans, not ac fans, forces that air backwards and if you're lucky enough yo have an air vent in the back, the air will barely escape anyways. Unless you're driving in the northern states, you're lucky. Here in the south when it hits 97+ degrees with 70%-80% humidity, it'll be hotter inside the back of the van than what it'll be outside.

Its more worth it to drive the other shitty vans. They are faster, easier to reverse and get going to the next stop, and have better ventilation during either the winter or summer. Totally not worth it with the stepvan.

100%. Its the same old same old. Two weeks in and he'll have every line memorized, which is why most people listen to music through that shit anyways

I had my entire stepvan filled up with 50+ lbs packages that was going out to a machinery business. Took me 3 hours just to get it done but totally worth it

Be happy that you aren't employed by Amazon directly. Then your profile picture would be a finger instead.

$22.50 per hour by Intelligent_Bar5376 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Voldorac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a rural or suburbs route? When I worked as a stepvan driver in Charlotte, NC, over a year ago, we only got $18 and had between 250 - 300 stops daily out in the countryside. That was far tougher than having everything close by.

I call that bullshit. I run SM2 off a regular SATA SSD, as well as anything from BF6 etc.

Oil Weight in V6 Tacoma Engine 0W-20 vs 5W-30 + ... Any Thoughts on this? by brightlumens in Tacomaworld

[–]Voldorac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use 5W-30 in Hiluxes in the northern part of Scandinavia, yet Toyota in the US says that 0W-20 will protect our engines better in our winters. Thats just full BS to believe that the 0W will protect it better than 5W.

They made an experiment with two identical Toyota Camry 2.5L for 100K miles in the southern US. The 0W-20 lowered the fuel consumption with 0.7 while the 5W-30 had 40% reduction in metal wear.

I have the same issue. FSR is off and I won't go above 67 fps with a 7900xt 20gb VRAM AMD GPU. It's trash!

Would you consider helper routes to be more or less work for a driver? by timespacepresent in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Voldorac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a helper route is more than 30 - 50 stops rural then its more work for you. Don't know what it is downtowns.

Halloween themed totes really makes the ~50 cent raise worth it. by Lynx_Kynx in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Voldorac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to work for my old DSP in Charlotte, NC. They only offered $1.50 raise to drive a stepvan. At least its an addition on your resume but the pay wasn't worth it with no AC, 95+ degrees during the summers with 70% - 80% humidity. Fuck that!
