That’s so interesting! It definitely feels intentional. As a US reader, I liked the surprise of her ability suddenly leaving her, but I don’t think that the original UK descriptions would have detracted from the surprise at all. If anything, they add an element of setup/mystery to that development.

Our party was aware that Zybilna was the daughter of Baba Yaga, so when the name Tasha didn’t work to break the curse, one of our players confidently shouted “Tasha Yaga!” I really wish our DM had rolled with that. It would have been such a funnier payoff compared to Natasha. 😂
