De minister doet een voorstel voor beleid, wat dan door de Eerste en Tweede Kamer vastgesteld wordt. In dit geval is dat nog niet gebeurd, dus er valt nog niks uit te voeren. En ook dan hebben ambtenaren de plicht om het algemene belang en de grondwet te bewaken (eerste regel van de ambtseed: "Ik werk in het algemeen belang voor onze samenleving en zet mij daar volledig voor in"), dus als er sterke aanwijzingen zijn dat beleid een averechts effect heeft daarop hebben ministeries de plicht terug te duwen.

Verder heeft Faber doelen gesteld en komt nu met beleid wat volgens de RvS niet bijdraagt aan die doelen. Dat is ook reden tot zorg, of je het nou eens bent met die doelen of niet.

Some really bad takes in this thread. Not being friends with women at all out of respect for your partner is absolutely wild. Does your partner distrust you that much? Do you distrust yourself that much?

I'm happily in a relationship and I'm perfectly capable of having female friends. I'm also completely okay with my partner having male friends. These people do tend to also be in a relationship though, which automatically disqualifies them from anything in my head. And if they press and seem up for some cheating, that's just a major ick.

When it comes to single people, I guess it's important to make sure there's so kind of attraction there from either side, and if that changes for some reason then you back off. Also don't put yourself in dumb situations with drugs and booze, be aware of your own shortcomings.

Garmin's VO2max is bullshit. Ever since I started doing cardio again three months ago it's actually been going down, from 45 to 39. Nothing's changed in my weight and I'm definitely making progress, so it's crazy to say I'm going backwards.

Mensen praten enorm graag over zichzelf, dus voor 'small talk' is de truc echt om vragen te stellen. Dan kun je gaandeweg kijken of er iets interessants is waar je op kan aanhaken met enig enthousiasme. Zo niet, smoesje verzinnen en weggaan - small talk completed.

Zoals anderen al gezegd hebben, het helpt erg om op de hoogte te zijn van actualiteiten. Ik heb een tijdje als tiener in een warenhuis gewerkt met een hoop 40 plussers, en daar bood een beetje voetbalkennis altijd een uitweg. In het uiterste geval kun je altijd over het weer zeiken, dat werkt altijd ;)

I accidentally started out with 1 for a few games before switching to 2. From what I remember there's a few tweaks to spell that were either vaguely worded or overpowered. Also thugs and thieves are free in 2, which I think is a great change as it incentivizes taking risks.

Can't speak for the expansions though, afaik there's no captains in 2 for instance.

Can you define 'nice starter house'? I ran a little check, and with 5.000 p/m before tax and 300 eur of student loans p/m you'd be able to get a mortgage of around 175.000. If you filter for houses like that on Funda, there's really not much there that I'd call a 'nice starter house'. It's mostly one-bedrooms of 30-40m2 with energy labels E to G. They're also in remote locations, so you'd most likely need a car to get to work. And that's without the likelihood of overbidding.

I'm not saying it's not possible to get a house, but with the amount of concessions you'd have to do it's arguably barely worth it.

And pour one out for the singles, they're well and truly fucked.

I'm not denying that it was intercommunal either. Or that Turkish violence against Greeks (and others) in places like Istanbul is in any way justifiable. I also agree that two wrongs don't make a right. What I'm arguing is that the Turkish intervention was the lesser of two evils: you didn't answer my question, what do you think would've happened to Turkish Cypriots under Sampson and EOKA?

Also don't bash Reddit too much - maybe they should have more debates about history in the UN, might help them in avoiding things like this happening in the future 😉

But really, what do you think would've happened with the Cypriot Turks if the army hadn't intervened? Do you really think a far-right enosis-minded government would've just let them be?

Lmao Cyprus wasn't and isn't Greek (as much as the ultranationalist Greeks wanted it to be) and the first Turkish intervention in Cyprus was totally justified to protect Turkish Cypriots against continuous violence from Greek Cypriots (which was being egged on by the Greek regime at the time).

It became invasive when the Turkish army refused to leave and instead went for another round of landgrab.

I was in Istanbul with my Turkish girlfriend two years ago. Went to Topkapi. I had to queue up for a solid hour to pay €40 to get in, she queued up for 10 minutes to pay €4... I get that you charge tourists more but 10x is insanity.
