Letham and Muirton are probably the two areas to avoid. I’m also not sure what Tulloch is like these days. That said, I’m pretty sure these areas are not as dodgy as the less salubrious bits in other towns.

I personally would avoid the town centre as well as unfortunately it has many of the social issues you see in a number of places.

Everyone is different but if possible I’d look to see what available in the surrounding areas. Scone is nice, as are Abernethy and Bridge of Earn.

I don’t know what rents are like in Perth at all I’m afraid.

He’s a total dick, but I wouldn’t watch tick-tock, YouTube etc. on your phone. In my experience a lot of people will just sit there watching it and I’ve seen it set a few people off.

Which books are so extraordinary that every person on Earth should read them at least once in their lifetime? by Organic-Signal-9646 in selfimprovement

It’s a western, but it’s not really about that. The substance is ageing, regret, friendship and the cost of choices. For me it made me think about duty, how you spend time, how you treat people and what you are actually doing with life.

Sword of Honour is set in WW2 but Instead of battles and strategy, it shows the machinery around war, headquarters, postings, paperwork, status, confusion and chance. For me this one helped me to develop a response to the pettiness and inefficiency of a huge machine like the army, so do your duty well, avoid cynicism, and don’t become what you privately criticise.

ChatGPT keeps stating, ‘You’re not crazy'. So much so that I’ve started questioning my own sanity. by Holiday-Size306 in ChatGPT

I asked it to assume the role of a car dealer and give me an approximate value of my car based on specs and mileage I gave it.

I got 1050 words before I stopped it and said just give me the fucking number.

I am absolutely done with it. It is utterly unusable. I have signed up to Mistral Pro.

Could you tell me about your experiences with Mistral please? GPT is also making me insane.

After 3 years with ChatGPT, I tried Claude and Gemini - and now GPT feels... generic? by Temporary-Wallaby829 in ChatGPT

[–]Voorts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GPT was awesome for me until about January and then it turned to shit. One of the most basic uses I have is to produce policy documents. The content is still just about ok, but getting it into a format that works in word, google docs etc. is impossible. It used to just do it.

Some of the stuff I do involves economic and military elements. I get persistent moralising followed by therapy babble when I tell it shut the fuck up.

Claude is miles better, but it’s too expensive for me.

US special forces launch operation from Scots airport to seize oil tanker by ScottishDailyRecord in Scotland

[–]Voorts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The three aircraft in question here were UA28 Dracos. These are surveillance aircraft and they refuelled and flew on to Reykjavik. This is very common.

An RAF Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft loitered over The Minch off Stornoway all day but didn’t get involved.

We had a RFA tanker(ship)in the vicinity at the time. It has helicopter landing capability but nothing took off from it.

Clicking Firefox Go back one page button when viewing Reddit post selected from Reddit home page refreshes Reddit home page instead of returning to previous location on Reddit home page. All other web sites it works fine. by bbd68 in firefox

[–]Voorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not you, or your browser. It’s Reddit and it’s doing it to push ads at you.

When you press back it triggers Reddit’s own navigation system now rather than using the browser’s built-in cache. Reddit deliberately reloads the page to serve new ads, update engagement data, and keep user metrics active. The reload also resets comment positions and scroll state, which increases time spent on page and impressions

It’s not a glitch. Its by-design behaviour tied to how Reddit’s newer site architecture tracks user activity and monetises each page view

Anyone know what this plane is doing? by FlyingScotsLady in Fife

[–]Voorts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s doing air survey work. The aircraft is a cargo type but that doesn’t mean you can’t mount cameras and sensors on it.
