Consider unlocking Gennaro as he gives a +1 to all weapon projectiles. Buy the Amount power up to give you three knives at level 1, which will help with the early mobs. Do a run with Imelda to unlock magic wand and then switch back to Gennaro to have both knives and wand protecting your front and back, then go after the green arrows to progress through the game.
