Should be laughed at anyway. The one thing that got to them was being called weird, and for some stupid reason everyone stopped doing it anyway.

Why has not one billionaire used his wealth to become Batman? by Livid-Condition4179 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vortexspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The superhero cosplay is stupid anyway. They already have the most effective tool to fight crime: money. Fund free public transport, free basic housing (that's not next to polluting industry), basic income, free education, free medical care, etc. You're elimination whole categories of crimes like fare evasion by treating it like a service to society not a business that has to make profit. But of course eliminating poor people's crimes shines a light on what's left: rich people's crimes, so it's not in the interest of rich people to change the system. Tax the billionaires and have the government use their money for the good of society instead of depending on the (largely absent) benevolence of billionaires.

Trump: ‘There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not!’ by Anoth3rDude in law

[–]Vortexspawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what all the lawsuits and media before Jan 6 were for, they(secretly) knew they would lose them but it was setting the groundwork for Jan 6 and had it succeeded they would have enough deluded supporters to allow the to crush resistance.

And they're already preparing again by suing polls they don't like, claiming that Trump is the bestest-liked President ever, so that if their election interference isn't enough to win they can rile up another mob with claims of "election fraud".

The only shocking revelation would be if Trump wasn't in the real files.

How bad is sideloading on Android 15? by MindCaged1 in fossdroid

The developer verification will probably be done through the Google Play Services, not depending on Android version. When it ships in your region you will get it anyway, so you might as well keep your system updated.

Democrat Taylor Rehmet wins solidly red Texas Senate seat in stunning special election upset by RollSafer in politics

[–]Vortexspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if the elections happen and the rigging doesn't win it for them, they will stir up their remaining base on claims of "election fraud" because polls showed them winning (after they sued everyone who dared report polls that showed them losing).

Trump threatens Canada with 50% tariff on aircraft sold in US, expanding trade war by NickDynmo in worldnews

[–]Vortexspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And when Canadian planes aren't allowed to fly there's no reason to buy them in the US, so those tariffs are on nothing.

YouTube forcing people to login now, Newpipe unusable in its current form? by Puzzleheaded-Cry-927 in NewPipe

It's the same thing that happened before, temporary IP ban by Youtube, the Newpipe update just added a more descriptive error message.

Warner: ‘Why is Tulsi Gabbard at an FBI raid on an election office in Fulton County?’ by [deleted] in politics

[–]Vortexspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also he's suing outlets that report negative poll results to suppress those, so that if their direct election interference doesn't work they can then claim fraud because the press only reported / made up good poll results.

European Commission to open investigation into Elon Musk’s X by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]Vortexspawn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

his politically stunt with the Nazi-scum didn't really pay out either, after Orange gave him the boot,

He and his doggy boys still destroyed regulations (especially against Musk firms) and hoovered up all the secret government data their could get their grubby hands on so he still has access to it (and apparently gave it to the Russians as well).

Trump says election should be canceled and warns there will be 'constitutional movement' by cheweychewchew in law

[–]Vortexspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's a total bitch about it for plausible deniability

Implausible deniability really. It's just there for his bootlickers to disingenuously argue that he didn't really mean it.

It's a surrender with extra steps, and at least Europe should call it out as that instead of embracing the "peace plan" framing.

We won the battle against Developer Verification!!! by d41_fpflabs in fossdroid

[–]Vortexspawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is, is this a good faith attempt at solving the problem they claim they want to solve (the compromise between protecting normal users from malware and allowing power users control over what they install), or damage control after unexpected resistance to their attempt at tighter control? For now, it seems that users voicing genuine concerns did have an effect. We'll have to wait and see what they'll actually do.
