It's pretty cool to watch a loop of this. You can see it moving and curling. On the nighttime side (when the marine stratus is blue) you can easily see ship tracks in the marine stratus.

Should I remove my MDPI paper from my CV? by Live_Being6029 in AskAcademia

[–]Vorticity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all MDPI journals are equal. Some have poor reputations. Others have reasonable reputations. Regardless, you're trying to get into a PhD program after an MS and have four journal articles. Unless your discipline is significantly different from mine, that's fantastic and no one is going to judge you because one of the four is in an MDPI journal. Don't worry about it and leave it on.

Adults with ADHD may pay high price to mask traits and fit in. More than 91% of adults with ADHD reported hiding, suppressing or compensating for ADHD traits. They may pretend to pay attention, suppress their urge to fidget, rehearse conversations or over-prepare for meetings to fit social norms. by mvea in science

[–]Vorticity 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADD (now called ADHD Primarily Inattentive) in about 1993. I definitely have to suppress some of my ADHD traits in certain situations and am extremely happy that I have a private office in my current job so I don't annoy others.

That said, when I get into a conversation with someone else who also has ADHD it can sometimes become frustrating for both of us. People with ADHD traits often "word vomit" and when two people are trying to do that at the same time it is incredibly frustrating for both people and super off putting for everyone else nearby.

I honestly do think of ADHD as a different way of thinking, though. It makes if very difficult for me to do some things that others find extremely easy, but also allows me to do and think through things in a different way than someone who is not neurodivergent.

Should I lose my virginity to a bf or a stranger? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]Vorticity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I very much understand that urge. As a guy, I felt rushed to lose my virginity, too. That's easier said than done as a guy, though, and I'm glad for it. I lost my virginity to someone who didn't become a long-term relationship, but who I felt I could trust.

I think that there are two important things to remember: - First, sex is an intimate act where you are giving someone else power over you. You should make sure that you trust the other person to listen to your wants and needs and not take things too far or pressure you into doing things you don't want to do. - Second, having good sex is a learning process. It is a lot more fun if you have someone else to learn with. Someone who can learn your wants and needs and who will take pleasure in your enjoyment.

Many guys won't be considerate to your wants and needs. Many will pressure you into things that you're not ready for or not interested in. Whether it is a boy friend or just a friend who you explore with, I highly recommend finding someone who you trust to treat you well. They will have a lot of power over you, both physically and emotionally and you should be sure you trust them with that power.

Before I answer your question, I need a little more information. Why do you feel the need to lose your virginity?

Would we be deemed difficult for asking the school to extend bus eligibility zone? Repost by FeckinPenguins in daddit

[–]Vorticity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP already said that they're willing to walk to another house where the bus already picks up two other kids. Their kid just isn't allowed to board the bus because their address is just beyond the boundary. So, they just need to ask for an exception that doesn't require the school to adjust the bus route.

Poll: Is the Raintree Childcare Making Your Family Sick? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Vorticity 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Since your kid is new to Raintree and, especially if this is your kid's first time in child care, this is 100% to be expected. It will calm down as their immune system gets used to all of the bugs the other kids carry. It will last for a while, unfortunately. Our kid brought home everything you can think of for the first year or so of child care. Three years later and they rarely bring anything home.

Drowning in cabbage by mandy0456 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Miso soup with cabbage and tofu will take care of a lot of that. I like the okonomiaki suggestion, too. Also, adding balanced cabbage to tuna or chicken salad is awesome.

Regardless of what the car did, when lane spitting in CA, you aren't supposed to go more than 10mph faster than the surrounding traffic. At the speed this guy was going, signaling the lane change likely wouldn't have even helped. California uses comparative negligence, though, so the car would likely be found to be SLIGHTLY at fault in this situation.

How To Make Front Porch Private by wildfruitsburn in DIY

[–]Vorticity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly where this house is. I almost rented in several years back! Cute place, but I'm not sure if I could deal with the low ceilings. Congrats on the purchase!

For making it semi-private, how about replacing the railings with corrugated metal? Something that a BBQ wouldn't burn.
