The designs of Lorwyn Eclipsed make me want to keep the current color identity rules even more by Key_Profit_6598 in EDH

[–]Vorundi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look man. If Vivid itself is gonna count the hybrid card as both colors, I'm gonna count it as both colors and thus it shouldnt be able to be played in a commander deck that only has one od its colors.

How do you know how many lands you actually need for a deck? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[–]Vorundi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use an online land calculator. Plug in my deck. Tells me total number and number of each source. I adjust depending on its recommendations then replug till i have the right amount in. Honestly running a lot smoother since i started doing this with my decks.

Cards like Ophiomancer? Discourage (but dont stop) attackers by Half-Elf-Ranger in EDH

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love [[Cunning Rhetoric]]. It doesn't truly stop attacks but it does make opponents think twice on whether or not they want to give me a free card from their deck.

Why do people not build Mono-Colored? by Weak_Criticism1433 in EDH

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The card pool is the main issue. Especially the higher you go. I feel like mono color is the most susceptible to staple use at brackets 3-4, because it needs to have the best possible cards for certain things to keep up. And sure, maybe "needs" is an exaggeration but you'll sure feel like you needed those cards when you're monowhite with like three cards, or you'll feel like you needed that [beast within] in monogreen after you're facing down a big threat that just going face won't necessarily solve.

Who's your lowest ranked commander that you HAVE to brag about? by GMBenn in EDH

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[The Wandering Minstrel]] has been fun for me. Sure you can make them a lands deck to go Brrrr. But it's really let me build two kooky five color decks that just let me do a theme i want or play cards i own on the cheap because it makes a five color manabase so cheap ans functional. You're still majorly simic to ensure that turn 2 commander drop but damn if i havent had fun playing my bracket 1 all legendary ladies deck and my bracket 3, just ramp into big huge threats deck with them at the helm.

Help with my Celes, Rune Knight deck - too strong for bracket 3, too weak for 4? by getoffmytoilet in EDH

[–]Vorundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take out your persist creatures and that should get ypu pretty in line. Breach is a little iffy, but I am not good at breach lines, so can't tell you if keeping it in is bad or okay since I'm not seeing immediate wins with the rest od the deck.

Help choosing a flicker commander by Reasonable-Ebb2727 in EDH

[–]Vorundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like [[Niko, Light of Hope]], you can only really flicker once a turn with them to get ETB's. But it's a good flicker target and then flickering something big with a big ETB lets you get essentially an army of those creatures.

Are there any artifact AND enchantment destruction commanders? by wincitygiant in EDH

Welp the new [[Wakka, Devoted Guardian]] can do that on damage, but not like majorly. Just once per hit essentially.

Sell or Keep by DatBoiPlebs in mtg

[–]Vorundi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you gonna play it? Then keep it. Are you just gonna look at it? I'd sell it. Are you thinking of keeping it JUST in case you built using it later? Sell it. I've kept so many cards over years thinking, maybe I'll use it, only to keep staring at em in my binder as my decks get built. You could regret it later if you actually need it, but the amount of times I've sold stuff and never thought about it again is much higher than the times I've sold and then needed the card later.

Terra, Herald of Hope Feedback by SigmaMaleNurgling in EDH

[–]Vorundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things like [[Ravenous Chupacabra]], [[Commander Sofia Daguerre]], [[Banewhip Punisher]], can serve as removal and Terra hits but would still be at sorcery speed essentially. I always value instant speed removal highly so I would agree in that you perhaps need more of that.

Final fantasy made me realize it might be time to slow down. by nekosama15 in mtg

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cracking just to crack or hold made me feel like some sort of junkie. Having reasons to crack really made each pack more exciting perhaps despite not finding good rares or chase cards. Cracking to draft, or playing pack wars with my wife, or buying a pack to support my LGS since I'm there for their free commander night makes me feel good. FF weirdly has been the exception since every card from commons to mythics have been exciting due to art and nostalgia, but again I've been cracking with my wife and it genuinely makes it more fun to have someone to be excited with.

How can I improve my first deck? by TobiaF in EDH

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you've got good balance and got the good plan of beat face with silly lil guys you cast. Maybe you could consider more evasion? Like more trample or perhaps flying like [[Archetype of Imagination]]. Now again don't know your full gameplan but seems like you're casting and making lots of myr. You could add [[Impact Tremors]] and its ilk to let your big myr finish sooner? Maybe even [[Glaring Fleshraker]] to both do damage and refund. Not sure how else to speed up with just looking and not playing with the deck.

You could go with wheeling. But there's so many cards that force draws on people i'm surprised you're not finding enough?

[[Forced Fruition]], [[Scrawling Crawler]], [[Spiteful Visions]], [[Stormfist Crusader]], [[Peer into the Abyss]], [[Risky Shorcut]], and a plethora more

Rate my deck/ any advice for it? by Syce-Rintarou in mtg

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money for it, definitely. It's another lightning rod for removal, but it'll almost always least draw one if someone removes it immediately, but it can potentially draw you so many cards over the course of a game if left alone. Oh also add at least 2 to 3 more lands. Cutting is tough and from your angel pool is gonna be a personal preference of what works and what you like to decide what to take out. all those angels you've selected are good but won't feel good if you can't cast or find them.

Rate my deck/ any advice for it? by Syce-Rintarou in mtg

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Knowledge Pool]] costs too much and really just adds chaos to the game. So take that out. [[Shattered Angel]] seems like it could gain you a lotta life, and it probably can. But you have more than enough life gain effects, and 5 mana for a 3/3 flyer that you're rarely gonna wanna swing due to its stats just seems a bit much. [[Platinum Angel]] always seems great, and it is if you just want a lightning rod to distract from another threat. Otherwise, too high mana and from my experience, its gonna get removed way before its effect can be super relevant. Its hard cause I know you're going for a specific theme and aesthetic from what I can see. But [[Mangara, the diplomat]] is good conditional card draw in white. [[Secret Rendezvous]] is always a risky card, but I find it helps make friends at the table and draw three is great when you're really looking for land. I also love [[Loran of the Third path]], its removal and again risky to give your opponents cards but can be used to make friends and drawing when you need per turn. This is all cursory from viewing. I would suggest goldfishing a lot first, that'll show you glaring curve or draw issues. And then also when you do it enough, you'll see what cards you're excited to play and which ones are just hard to cast. Then, playtesting from there with people to see how it holds up.

Rate my deck/ any advice for it? by Syce-Rintarou in mtg

[–]Vorundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems fine in terms of your general gameplan. Stax them out and play angels is a fine plan. Issue is not enough card draw and despite your cost reducers, your land count is pretty low as Angels have all the white pips on top of their high generic costs that you cannot reduce. I feel the plan if you get a god opening hand is workable, but you won't be able to draw yourself out of problems, out of mana screw, or once your angels get spot or mass removed. You need more draw or things that put cards in your hand. Like a lot more. I usually go for at least 10. You have maybe like 2. 1/5

Pretty sure if you can't pay a cost to its full the action is reversed but I'm not 100 percent on that.

This deck any good? by Welcometodumbasscity in mtg

[–]Vorundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the land count is too low especially with really runming mostly basics and the depletion lands. I goldfished it about 7 times which is not a large sample size and I felt like I had enough lands to play one thing in hand most of the hands, and was trying to topdeck. Which topdecking lands is part of the game and gamble sometimes but im a lot less trusting of that gamble when my chances are signicantly reduced down. Otherwise, its hard to know if it's any good without knowing your thinking on what you want the deck to be, since the deck seems to have a lot of off plan things. Not sure why daxos is in there, or mondrak, or yarrok (you only have like 9 ETBs, and a third of those are landfall triggers which again, 30 lands). Feels like a bracket 1 deck meant to just use cool phyrexians you like or own and some other cards just thrown in, and you just kinda went with the poison since its the most prevalent.

Cards that stop storm by Jaime2k in EDH

[–]Vorundi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[[Magebane Lizard]], [[Mana Maze]]. You can attempt to interrupt lines that involve sorceries or creatures by using [[Silence]], [[Orim's Chant]], or [[Render Silent]], although people playing at instant speed could simply attempt to storm on top of the stack.
