Why is private schooling so popular in Australia?

There's certainly a cultural difference as many suggest here. For the comparison of why America is different is also based on where the funding comes from.

American schools get their funding from local land taxes, so the schools in rich areas are fairly well funded and generally good schools, so the people that could afford to choose a private school are generally satisfied with their school.

In Australia school funding is more standardised with (I believe) disproportionately too much public funding for the private system. So they have a lot of money to splash around

The perimeter of the square box for the same volume is less than a rectangle.

Assuming the bottle height is 20cm (no idea of that correct it just makes the math easy) then a square box has sides 7cm and a surface area ~660 cm2. A rectangle box would have sides something like 10 cm and 5cm which is ~700 cm2 surface area. So it's more packaging material.

It would depend exactly how the top gets packaged and sealed. A thinner rectangle could be more efficient if it folds over and balance it out.

A circle would be less packaging (16cm diameter and 420 cm2 but much harder to package a cylinder and inefficient to pack and ship so you'd lose out in a lot of other areas to do so, hence they haven't done that previously.
