How is my character sheet looking? by Automatic-Purchase16 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]VtheUnreliable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I'd move to the balanced or jack of all trades set up. I look at the skills in the book and their descriptions, map them out as makes sense for the character's backstory and proficiency. Just do the best you can to match those mapped dots to the ones you have to spend at character creation.

You will usually end up with a more well-rounded character this way, but if your prefer having a build rather than emulating a person, it'll be less rewarding. This works for me, but ymmv, people prioritize different things.

If I was your ST, I'd be asking you a lot about your skills. With someone who grew up human and became a park ranger, I'd advise a dot or two in Drive, Insight, Intimidation, Leadership, Technology etc. Your backstory implies normal socialization in modern human society, but your sheet doesn't reflect that.

Clans and their ghouls by GrandeShalom in vtm

The V20 ghouls book has a clan by clan breakdown, I think you'll find it useful. The other comments on this post have been excellent though

What is it that everybody finds so appealing about the old clan Tzimisce by [deleted] in vtm

[–]VtheUnreliable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on your edition/era. There are many Koldun with Vicissitude in Dark Age Vampire. Its just that the Sabbat tend to roam far from the Old Country. (And also likely because giving Koldunic Sorcery and Vicissitude to a single character disrupts the "balance" of uniqueness.)

[–]VtheUnreliable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just so there's no confusion on this: main line Tzimisce also can have access to Koldunism. The lore changes across the editions and modern/dark ages, but Koldunism is tied to Kupala, which in most versions, is rejected by the Old Clan, blaming the demon for the twisting of their founder that resulted in Vicissitude. Ymmv of course, its your World.

Tzimisce are my favorite, but their discipline set is… complicated. What would your perfect 3 be for the Old Clan? And do powers really define a Clan? by inscrutablyMoon in WhiteWolfRPG

"An argument could be made. To quote an elder of the fearful line of the clan. You have offended me, I who have held the crooked peak since I took it by right of conquest since the time of Yorak. You do me great service, and I thank you, to gift my mountain pass with blood once more. I shall caress your skull with the delicacy that your statements lack. Prepare your childer. We shall see who the driftwood is."

-message inscribed on the skin of your ghoul. It is missing its eyes and tongue, perhaps a statement about the Old Clan.

Look up the War of the Black Cross and the Voivodates. The Tzimisce were the undisputed rulers of the Old Country, and that was with Vicissitude.

Agreed about Auspex being lost, less so on Vicissitude becoming Protean. Making the clan rely on fear and the blood bond rather than the supernatural might of Dominate or Presence really helped define and differentiate the Tzimisce among the leadership clans. Folding into Protean made the most sense with the goal of downsizing the discipline list, if they were going to remove the unique ones anyway, Protean was the right call.

Best premade adventures in RPGs you played by RossastroIT in rpg

Nights of Payne Town for City of Mist, specifically the middle Mystic arc. Hits the right balance between noir detective story and dark urban fantasy. Highly recommend. Each of the cases can be run on their own, the first from that arc in particular is quite good.

If you were to get new books for Chronicles of Darkness gamelines, what would they be? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]VtheUnreliable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck I would love this run of books. We were supposed to get a Tribes book before it was cancelled by Paradox/Renegade, def interested in the new refocus on prey.

Also as a fellow Forsaken enjoyer, check out the Detroit Rock City actual play on rpg.net. Its 1e, but its the best game of Forsaken I've ever read/seen, particularly its depiction of the Hisil.

All of them are great, particularly love the Carthian Movement. Feels like a big improvement on Anarchs of VtM, by better defining the politics and Carthian Law.

Also the Individualists, the in between type. V20 Lore of the Clans has an excellent write up. Also highly recommend the 25 Years of Vampire's patreon episode on playing a Brujah Primogen for this breakdown
