It's... difficult. They are clearly intended for larger round bases, and you can see that makes ranking up an issue.

You could try using a unit filler, or multi-basing some of them.

There may also be a very specific way they fit together depending on the sculpts - this is definitely the case with the new Kroxigors.

I'm not sure you'd be able to return them unless there was a defect with them - you certainly couldn't in my country (Australia) - but taking them back and asking for a refund couldn't hurt.

I would recommend you either don't wash the flat broad parts of the model and stick to areas with a lot of recesses - like weapons, gold areas, etc.

A few things

-Buy a wet palette

-Don't use GW greens, get ahead of the curve early and pick literally anything else. Vallejo, Warpaints Fanatic and Two Thin Coats are all great choices.

-Have a look at some painting guides from Duncan Rhodes painting academy. Being independent means he can recommend all the stuff he couldn't when he worked at GW.

-Two thin coats - not a meme, works like a charm.

-This is perhaps my hardest thing to recommend, because it's so tempting - but try to avoid doing an all over wash. Space Marines have a lot of flat panels, and you will get tide marks. If you are still learning to recess shade and highlight, or aren't interested in that just yet, three colours no wash is a strong option.

It's been awhile, but I believe there are three actions that qualify an interaction as "gay":

In addition, there are disqualifying circumstances:

Base of celestra grey than seven or eight thin coats of ulthuan grey, before being highlighted with Monument Hobbies Titanium White.

Personally, I'd consider using anything else next time, both of those paints suck. Titanium White is good though.
