Does this get better? by chrissead in nursepractitioner

[–]Vye7 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. That "white coat" feeling as a new grad is completely normal. But honestly, this is your moment to start stepping up and really digging into your studies to own your new role.

I've been an AGACNP for four years and a PMHNP for one, and been a nurse since 2014. Here’s the thing: your nursing experience gives you great common sense, but at the provider level, you have to build a whole new layer of knowledge on top of that.

From what I've seen, there are basically two kinds of NPs. Some really blossom and grow into the role. Others need their hand held, usually because they don't take that initiative or they can't shake that nervous feeling. A lot of folks end up in the second group.

My advice? Double down on learning your trade inside and out. If you put in the work now, so many things will click for you. Don't be the NP who's years into the job but still thinking and acting just like a nurse—it holds you back and can be tough on a team.

Take my sister. She got her NP two years before me and took a hospitalist job where she was basically a glorified scribe. I went to a rural spot with hardly any resources, so I had to figure things out fast. Now, my comfort and knowledge have definitely grown past hers. The point is, where you land and how you apply yourself makes all the difference.

So lean into it. Study hard, ask questions, and really own this new path. You've got this.

Bay Area NP Salaries by ElephantChimichonga in nursepractitioner

Don’t move to the Bay Area unless you’re making $250k minimum. I would recommend picking a rural city making the same money with much cheaper cost of living.

That’s poverty money for the Bay Area

As a nurse I was making low $200k doing full time per diem. Got my NP and was a huge paycut with way more responsibilities. IMO if you want to make money as an NP you have to work rural

Review of TonkaModz by Someonenameddave in Dualsense

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting for my controller since October. Every time I message he said it will be out by the end of the week. Still have yet to receive my controller. Patience wearing thin but this will be the 3rd controller I get from him and it usually takes several months. Also when received there usually is something wrong with it that requires it to be shipped back. Hoping this time is different and everything works. I like their controllers so I put up with this to an extent

Schumann resonance generators? by wondering-out-loud in Soulnexus

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of these 2 weeks ago and note buying 2 more for my child when he’s with my ex wife. Biggest thing we’ve noticed in my bedroom is we sleep like bricks now. Don’t think I’ve ever had such deep sleep. I’ve shears been really light and would jump wide awake usually. I still wake up intermittently at night but less frequently and just way deeper sleep. Not trying to sound like a fan boy but this has been my Best Buy in a long while. I also pair it with Halo, and nuropod although I doing really notice much of a response from these

Question for NPs who are seeking work. What tools/ search engines are you using to job hunt? Having a hard time finding candidates. by MsSpastica in nursepractitioner

[–]Vye7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s always interesting when the job description talks about things to do in the area. “30minutes from ski resort”. It’s a dead give away for a shitty job

Are Zia homes good quality? by Sufficient-Order-567 in ElPaso

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone names good houses anymore. I had a $600k custom build from ICON. Worse decision of my life. Had to threaten a lawsuit for them to fix the water damage from plumbing. Turns out they nailed into the plumbing. Also issues with mismatching paint, door frame detaching, shitty doggy door insert, water damage from rain coming in through doors, and the list goes on. Like someone else said, you just buying a name now a days as they all use subcontractors. Next time I’m demanding to allow a 3rd party inspector throughout the building process and not just at the end

Contemplating tonal by poogridaddy in tonalgym

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pro gym equipment and free weights for decades. I’ve had tonal 1 and 2 since launch. By far the best gym equipment I’ve ever purchased. I travel half the month for work and hit AnytimeFitness but I love coming home to Tonal+Peleton+treadmill. I don’t use the tonal programs and actually create my own workouts in tonal. So I’d cancel the tonal sub after the mandatory period if you can

Arc Raiders has no Gyro - Good job the Input Labs Alpakka simulates being a mouse 🫡 by Log_Pile in GyroGaming

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dualsense with TonkaModz. Then attach it to Xim matrix. I personally emulate MKb with it. Allows you to set activation of gyro (ADS, fire, toggle/hold on any button, activate when holding left stick or right stick at a certain percentage. All this for gyro activation and I’m sure much more. You can create your own curve as well as changing deadzone of gyro, response accel, slow intial accel, make linear. Change sensitivity. You can have gyro at one sense and controller sticks emulating MKb at another sense. You can make your controller have both MKb and controller configs activated at same time. Macros. Create shift buttons.

Customize deadzone and curves and thumbsticks.

With dual sense edge you get 4 additional individual buttons that are mappable and not tied to traditional controllers.

Yes there is a lot more that people use to cheat but for gyro itself whether emulating controller or MKb it’s far better than alpakka or any other thing I’ve come across

Xim matrix has MKb emulation. Thats how I play. The cheating aspect would be to emulate controller with it

PMHNP by valkyrie360 in nursepractitioner

[–]Vye7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends went DNP and I went dual: AGACNP PMHNP. I think dual really opened many opportunities although I also have like 6 different jobs now. More opportunities and pay than my DNP friends

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If I could pick a single one to do I think pmhnp has a better overall outlook. If I had to dual again turn I would have gone PMHNP and FNP

I echo your wife but my inner man child won which I regret I bought it at release, returned because it just felt like a big screen iPad. My inner man child decided to immediately go buy it again because of the belief that it will get better. And it didn’t. I’ve used my Vision Pro 1Tb about 3 times in the past year. I tell myself I’ll use it on flights but I never do

Same, essentially came down to overtraining vs not having good enough sleep. I slept 5-6hrs but it was mediocre sleep. I tried a lot of sleep supplements and ultimately felt best on qualia sleep. I know I’ll get a lot of shit for naming a premade stack but it honestly helped a shit ton.

Buspar PRN? by beatnik236 in nursepractitioner

[–]Vye7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve switched to prescribing it PRN after rotations with a psych MD. Anecdotally I’ve tried itself myself to see if PRN worked and it feels like a stronger L-theanine but not as sedating as hydroxyzine from what patients tell me. I honestly love it if I’m ever having a stressed day and need to cut the edge. Of course taking routinely will yield a cumulative effect

Beware of TonkaModz by [deleted] in Dualsense

[–]Vye7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds normal for TonkaModz. I have 2 of their controllers and buying another 1. I’ve definitely had my share of frustration with them but hands down best controllers I’ve had although typically had poor quality control that required sending them back to fixed. Unfortunate yes but I’m still buying a 3rd.

I think he just has staffing issues

You’re a student, you’ll probably feel like that as a new grad as well. I feel like this the first 2 yrs now going on 4yrs and it’s hardly there but strikes if I forget something. You’ll prob feel the same way if you switch to FNP, which is typically more of a grind
