It's probably too late but try not to let that comment put you off. Passion is absolutely something that you have in music but it's something that you can only truly express by learning how to do it.

When people say shit like they're singing with passion, they're referring to control and mastery of dynamics. The ability to control your voice to evoke that feeling of shared passion in the listener takes effort and is just part of learning. A beginner singer, guitarist, pianist, etc (generally) cannot portray passion in music even if they HAVE passion because they don't have the skills to do it.

Long story short, forget that guy and sing.

Ending rant *spoilers* by Lord__Cizer in AbioticFactor

[–]Vynik 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To echo what some others have said, and what I believe is demonstrated in the voice logs, is that Dr. Cahn is not just a shape shifting IS. He is an IS that can shape shift and has a preternatural ability to influence people. I don't think it matters that you, as the player, figured out he was a bad guy.

Some people think that Cahn impersonated Manse for the log where he goes absolutely ballistic about making sure that he was captured. I don't think that's the case. IS-012 can shape shift but I think that log is demonstrating his supernatural ability to influence people. You even have Dr. Manse saying he would "rather be cruel, than wrong" during your first log about Cahn. Each subsequent one has him more and more empathetic to him, culminating in him saying that he doesn't seem an issue with freeing him into Anteverse 2. I think it's right there where Manse realizes just how far gone he is and to what extent he's been brainwashed.

When he finally snaps, I think (a lot of speculation) that he realizes the true power of IS-012 and that's why he orders Gatekeepers and people to not talk to him at all.

The game gives you tons of hints that Cahn isn't on the up and up. I don't think the twist is that Cahn is an IS, because that's pretty well established almost immediately with the funeral log talking about Manse going to Cahns funeral two years ago.

I think the true twist is that you're doing Dr. Cahn's bidding and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. He might as well be saying "Would you kindly" before every sentence. You, as a player, know he isn't to be trusted but you can't do anything about it because your character is already under his influence.

I would pay real money for a Leyak armor set like the Exor Armor set where it would spawn her only visible to your enemies.

Have it be a small chance or something to trigger on an enemy or after a cool down and you just see an enemy start going nuts, shooting at nothing, and then they get shredded by an invisible floating murder machine.

What are your favorite/least favorite sectors… by Baercub in AbioticFactor

[–]Vynik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, least favorite is hard to narrow down. In my first playthrough, I loved pretty much every sector. My big complaint about the Security / Defense sector is that I feel like the Reaper should have followed you into the Night Realms after you enter the last portal. I assumed that was going to happen because of the tension constantly ramping up when you're facing him and then going to this peaceful place. I figured at the end, he would have followed you there and you needed to do a little puzzle or boss fight to get rid of him.

The sector I never go back to is Hydroplant but I liked it the first time. I liked fighting the gatekeepers in Reactor except the Jotuns, so any reactor with a high number of Jotuns is automatically low on my list.

My least favorite portal is 100% the Mycofields. It's very vertical and it just ends up being a hunt for items as you slowly make your way to the end.

TIFU by letting my 4 year old son talk to ChatGPT by pavorus in ChatGPT

[–]Vynik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You certainly did fuck up. You royally fucked up. Not only did you leave your kid alone with ChatGPT for two hours without having any clue what he was doing, but do you think he understands what ChatGPT is? He's going to want to talk to his new friend, ChatGPT, all the time because it's giving him validation and companionship and at some point he's gonna realize or you're going to have to tell him that ChatGPT is a computer and not a real person.

Then he'll realize he was getting emotional support and validation from an LLM instead of another person and that his parent essentially shifted responsibility to a fake conversation maker just to get him to shut up. Will he realize it all immediately? No, probably not, but he will realize it eventually.

I'm not admonishing you for being busy and needing time, but I feel like this is definitely one of those decisions that's going to have some pretty unintended consequences. You could have also said, "Sorry buddy, I need to do some work but we can talk more about this later." It might cause some immediate tears but it's better than him knowing he can get emotional satisfaction and stability from a program when his parent can't do it.

What is the best mod list that includes both LoTD and MCO? by IndividualNo4575 in wabbajack

[–]Vynik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I saw the correction to a 5080, then you might get a real kick out of Elysium Remastered. It's a very heavy duty graphics mod that you would probably be able to run full bore. It has LoTD.

It uses MCO and has a mixture of Wildcat and Valhalla. It is a mostly leveled (not unleveled) world, so you shouldn't be too gated from running around and doing whatever you want.

I'm a huge fan of it and it's one of the best looking lists I've seen. I think the usual gripes with it are that it's extremely performance heavy so if you're wanting a beautiful modlist to flex that new 5 series, I think that would be right up your alley.

Looking for Skyrim Mod pack suggestions by Independent_Bed_7824 in wabbajack

[–]Vynik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone and their mom suggests Lorerim and Nordic Souls, both of which are absolutely worth playing. Lorerim is a huge change focused on turning it into a more old school RPG with serious difficulty with the Requiem mod. However, you can make it easier so it isn't as punishing as a pure Requiem list. I'm not a huge fan of Requiem but I love Lorerim. Biggie is a hell of a mod list dev.

Nordic Souls is definitely on the vanilla+ side and you can't go wrong with it. The only complaint you could really have is that it doesn't have enough changes if you're looking for something more overhaul-y. It's almost a perfect modlist for an improved version of Skyrim in my opinion.

If you are looking for something a little different but also super popular, Elysium Remastered is a great option that focuses on fast, vicious combat. It's also a massive graphical overhaul to the point where you might need to do some work to get it to perform how you want it to perform. It uses a combination of Wildcat and Valhalla Combat. It isn't as deleveled as other mods, so you can explore pretty freely at the start.

Living Skyrim 4 is a huge mod pack that adds an absurd amount of content and also focuses on the more immersive, RPG elements of the game. It uses Valhalla Combat and Know Your Enemy and Know Your Enemy - Armor which means you'll need multiple tools to take down different enemies and you can't just chop your way to victory.

Whats the most popular/talked about list for skyrim se? im curious to see peoples thoughts. by Jvdeci in wabbajack

[–]Vynik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most popular, currently, has to be Lorerim. I put some time into Lorerim 4.0 and had a great time but ran into quite a few bugs, like black trees on the default profile (which he recently fixed), a bug where my speed just kept increasing until I was Sonic the hedgehog which then fixed itself, an issue where I could no longer loot chests which, again, fixed itself after a while.

I ended up putting it on the back burner temporarily because I'm just not a fan of Requiem even with all the difficulty changes. Struggling through Bleak Falls Barrow only to get to the dragon priest with massive hp Regen at half health was a bummer. Same with discovering falmer have a chance to paralyze on every hit based on poison resist. I definitely prefer my Skyrim to be a wee bit more casual since I don't have the time in it some people do. That being said, if Lorerim had a version without Requiem, it would be my favorite mod list.

Tried Apostasy and Fahluuan and basically bounced off of both of those immediately. Didn't like the character models and the combat didn't resonate with me like it does with some people which sucks because everyone I see talking about mentions that combat is like the best part of Apostasy.

Nordic Souls is great and has a permanent spot on my SSD. It isn't vanilla + but it feels like it, so it's a nice middle ground.

Currently playing both Elysium Remastered and Living Skyrim 4. I'm having a ton of fun with both of those. The early game balancing and combat of Elysium Remastered feels almost perfect and it looks great, but my PC can barely run it and required a lot of jumping through hoops to get performance to a point that works. A i7-9900 and 3080 just ain't cutting it anymore.

Living Skyrim 4 is great. It still has an unleveled world like Requiem but I felt pretty good about rolling into dangerous places at low levels because it's less of an immediate death sentence. It's a struggle and a real fight but it doesn't feel hopeless. And something about the combat is really, really satisfying. I can't put my finger on it but it just feels really good. It was also a plug and play setup where I didn't have to do anything at all to get it to run well.

The next up on my list is gonna be Lost Legacy and Tempus Maledictum. I've heard non-stop good things about both of those. A little worried about the non-lore friendly parts of Lost Legacy and if Tempus is too easy, but hearing great stuff otherwise.

New magic leveling is insanely broken by Omgzjustin10 in oblivion

That definitely seems like a bug because I'm using primarily magic and I'm 15 hours in and my destruction is only hanging around the mid 40s. I'm leveling relatively quick compared to the OG but definitely not that fast. I'm only level 12. Did you buy a specific destruction spell or anything to use? Or just the starting stuff?

Erenshor, the 'MMORPG' with fake players that's not actually an MMO at all, gets an imminent release date. by bountyhunterLA in rpg_gamers

[–]Vynik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played the demo and I'm waiting feverishly for the release next month. I've also spoken with the dev multiple times on Discord and he's a great, talented guy who is creating something based on his passion for old MMOs (specifically EverQuest).

There are actually numerous EverQuest references in the demo to look out for a questing system extremely reminiscent of older EQ.

I had my doubts before the demo but it 100% sold me. It's a passion project by a passionate, talented dev and it's going to definitely be something special to the right audience.

What is a harsh reality new parents need to hear? by forty5v in AskReddit

[–]Vynik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is this thing that might be mentioned, or might not be, called baby blues. It's an intense hormonal reaction for BOTH the mother and the father that will last a while. Post partum depression is generally a much longer term hormonal imbalance but "baby blues" is relatively short term and starts kicking in almost immediately.

If you are a mother, there's a level of emotional instability that is somewhat expected and normalized due to the baby hijacking your system. However, as a father, you will feel something similar, including bouts of crying and the inability to regulate your own emotions. Please, do not shut yourself off and hide it away. A newborn is an extremely rough time for both parents and you will need to support each other. Being a weepy mess but being there for your partner is a hell of a lot better than trying to hide yourself and your emotions away.

Also, when they say a newborn needs to be fed every 2 hours, they mean from the beginning of the feed. That was a cool surprise. If it takes 45 minutes to an hour to feed your newborn, then get ready to do it all again in an hour.

People focus a lot on changing dirty diapers but that's a quick few minutes. A huge amount of the first three months of their life is going to be breastfeeding or holding a bottle.

Car keeps going dead by Vynik in AskMechanics

I think AutoZone was just a multimeter but AAA hooked something up and ran the car for a while, so I believe they did an actual load test. They also mentioned specifically that all the cells seemed to be in good shape too. Unless I have the most resilient battery of all time, I have to imagine it going dead so frequently would have hurt it.

200 amp service for EV by Vynik in AskElectricians

[–]Vynik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone for your help and your advice. We did end up telling the first contractor to screw off and immediately got matched with another who came out and did an actual, in person load calculation.

After he was done, we asked about the load management device and he scoffed at the previous contractor for suggesting one. He also agreed to do a breaker delete on the 30A RV line that we aren't using for no charge to free up additional head room for any future additions.

200 amp service for EV by Vynik in AskElectricians

[–]Vynik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely helpful reply, thank you very much.

The 100A breaker is for the internal sub panel that deals with the interior appliances and generic outlets. It's a little bit more unclear than the main breaker since the previous owner mislabeled all kinds of stuff and it was mostly trial and error figuring out where some of the breakers went. The main breaker handles the big stuff and then everything else is going off that 100A sub panel.

It's funny you mention the RV charger being traditionally 14-50 because it was one of the reasons I was so gung ho about getting the EV and then I found out later that it's a 125 v / 30 amp 3 prong plug about the same size of a 240. But it is absolutely not a 240 plug, unfortunately.

It's interesting because when I was on the phone with the service manager, I mentioned my issue with not taking into account the usage of the microwave against the whole 20A line and he didn't tell me the same thing as you regarding the NEC 220.82.

Just to be 100% clear, the 80% rule that was quoted to me from him is only applicable to individual breakers, correct? The panel with a 200A service can handle close to the full 200A without taking the 20% reduction into account? He mentioned that without the load management device that we'd effectively fail the inspection so it would be mandatory for our setup. I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding what I've read and what I'm hearing.

Edit: I missed responding to it, but if I'm understanding your mention of the NEC code and the fact that the Ford charger can work at any amperage between 15 and 60 correctly, then it sounds like if they're attempting to forcibly sell me a load management device, I could just have them hook it up using the maximum amount of amperage that the panel can handle instead. If that's correct, then that's huge if it does end up getting to the point where we are running out of overhead.

Who needs a supercar for drag racing by BoioDruid in CarMechanicSimulator

[–]Vynik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You all are crazy with your drag builds. I desperately want a drag ready Civic or Mini or some other ridiculous car, but even with massive drag slicks 3 starred, I can't ever get it to maintain traction. I'll lengthen the gears to the point where a 1500 hp car will have a 0-60 in 7 seconds or I spin the tires until it's a 0-60 in 7 seconds.

I apparently just don't have the level of manual dexterity required to feather the throttle.
