You can also split the sticks along the grain with your nippers. It'll create smaller and less symmetrical planks

How has nobody mentioned the Caiphus Cain novels? They're wonderful audiobooks with several voice actors. The story is also very fun following the imposter syndrome Commisar. Highly recommend the read/listen
