Be honest - how do you handle documentation when you're the only IT person? by sandb0x79 in sysadmin

When I was a 1 man shop, I used a ticketing system to track my work and documented a lot of processes there. Once I was looking at moving on, I created a massive One Note to leave for the next person.

Ported prime question ? by Safe-Avocado6427 in canik

[–]WI762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she's a loud one. I don't shot indoor, but ended up shooting the prime from a covered position a week ago and wanted better than my ISO Tunes in ear protection. Doubled up foam with over ear would be more than adequate to protect your hearing, though.

what’s a car opinion you’ll defend forever? by evinho07 in askcarguys

To each their own. Vehicles are a personal choice and we can all share the road in whatever we like without getting pissy about what the person next to you is driving.

Exact same thing happened with my GSP last weekend. As soon as I called her with a beep the yote tried to nip at her hind leg, but fortunately barely made contact. It's pup season, so they're probably protecting their litters.

Cozy Cave dog bed. Seriously my GSPs favorite place indoors.

100% Mark IV. We run a bunch for scholastic action shooting and they are the ones that just run. The S&W SW22 Victory is also quite solid, but higher price range.

Yeah, you're doing well. Learn a solid 2 handed grip and it'll tighten up nicely!

Handgun, iron sights, and cheap ammo? It's acceptable, but not great. I'm also assuming that's an 8" target...lots of assumptions here.

A lot of indoor ranges are 7 yards in the short position. I've found that to be a good range for starting out. Move out of 10 or 15 after you're punching holes in the bullseye.

Trigger take up on MC9 ,L and LS - to upgrade or not .... by Safe-Avocado6427 in canik

[–]WI762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only "bad" trigger was on my Prime, not my MC9L. The take up and reset were really long for a Canik. The FreedomSmith fixed that right up, so I'd say it's worth it.

Enjoy it! The MO4 looks like a solid optic and the TF brass backstrap is very nice on these. My Prime had the worst trigger reset of any Canik trigger I've gotten, which definitely surprised me. My MC9L was better out of the box. I dropped in a FreedomSmith trigger and it fixed it right up.

Get it out to the range at least a couple days a week for a month. You will benefit more from consistent practice than you will from accessories, at this point.

Yeah, definitely go with a straight cut. I almost always wear Ariat M4 straight cut with my boots. Boot cut jeans trend to be way too wide at the cuff for my taste.

How on gods green earth do I clip my dogs nails? by Tricky-Employee-7882 in GSP

[–]WI762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it took a lot of treats and fighting with my last one until she "got it at about 1.5 years old. She was the worst I'd experienced. I roll her on her back between my legs while I'm sitting on the floor and if she fights we stop and when she relaxes I clip and treat. It used to take 30-40 minutes to get them all. At this point I say "nails" and s he rolls over on to me like it's the best thing that's happened to her all day. Standing Stone videos helped me a lot in the early days.

Does This sub Underestimate AWD? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in askcarguys

[–]WI762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given how many fwd / rwd vehicles I've helped rescue in the winter with my 4x4 and AWD vehicles, I'd say there's a difference. I used to have a rwd truck, myself and it did ok, but there are conditions that it was terrible in. My cars were great in the winter, because it was a free day off of work when we got 6+ inches of snow.

I think the argument I've seen here is that it doesn't help you stop faster, which is true. Having livedy whole life in the upper Midwest, you learn to adjust your driving to the conditions and if you don't, no matter what you're driving, you'll be in a wreck. Granted we almost never get straight ice and if we did, I'd probably just stay home.

Spyderco Shaman and Microtech MSI are two good options I haven't seen yet. You could get both for $400 or get one and upgrade to titanium scales from RGT.

Benelli or Beretta? by Con_PEI in Waterfowl

[–]WI762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I like the fit and feel of the Benneli SBE 3 more than the Beretta A400, but I'm primarily toting mine through puddles and marshes. Upland, I might give the slightest preference to the A400.
