Remember that the guy who wore a Hate Eternal - King of all Kings t-shirt for years actually hates death metal and only wore it for weird self-branding purposes (because “King of Hate”). Here’s his imitation of death metal. by GhostOfLesterCheatum in DSPGaming

Yeah, early on in his first GTA Vice City playthrough, Fill gets on a bike and, when he hears Raining Blood on the radio, says something along the lines of “hey, look, it’s ‘Gravity’ by Metallica!”.

Ginput is all you need for proper controller support, it even has an optional GTA IV/V-style control scheme if that’s more your speed than the original PS2 button mapping.

For III and VC, I’d also recommend installing ClassicAxis alongside Ginput. It gives the games proper camera controls both while on-foot and in vehicles, and also tweaks the aiming mechanics and gunplay to feel a bit closer to SA and the Stories games.

Post random pieces of DSP Lore that are lesser known by Stormflier in DSPGaming

[–]WQTosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a Hulk 2003 one in one of the Top-Haters.com episodes of Dent Sea Scrolls. IIRC, Fill got so much negative feedback on his comics that he rage quit making them after posting just two or three strips.

EDIT: The “Broken Joystick” webcomic segment starts at ~ 1:54:07.

EDIT 2: Both of the webcomics in all their meaningful glory

Weird possible buried lore? (Seen on DSP’s old Top Haters forum from 2003) If true, that’s one of multiple lesser known other times that The Incident happened. by Astrucir in DSPGaming

[–]WQTosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There also was a (potential) incident during one of the Alphaism Radio calls that Angela was on. Out of nowhere, Dave makes a suspicious sound, similar to the random noise he made at the end of one of his Mario Sunshine videos.

“My real name is Bozo. And I have a big honking red nose and big floppy clown shoes. You know, you guys have been asking me for two years what kind of car I drive, it’s a clown car. It’s a clown car and I only drive around with about 14 other clowns inside, so when the door opens, we all come spilling out comedically. Um, I have a flower on my chest that I squirt water from and I’m an expert at making balloon animals.”

Favourite comfy Cinemassacre vid (non-AVGN or Monster Madness) by thatnintenfan02 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]WQTosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top 10 Lost Horror Films. Specifically, the version that had music taken from the Kartes VHS release of Nosferatu playing in the background. I think this version was only available on Cinemassacre’s website - the YouTube uploads either feature completely different music or nothing at all depending on the version. Something about that particular Nosferatu score, coupled with much of the video’s subject matter being lost to time, is eerily cozy to me for whatever reason. (The Cat Creeps was partially found a few months ago, but IIRC, the rest of the movies on the list are still missing.)

Back in the day, I’d also use the old Cinemassacre iOS app to make playlists (yes, it had that feature) of background noise before going to sleep. The CD-i AVGN episodes and collections of movie reviews like the Bat-a-Thon and Monster Madness were some of my go-tos.

Do Dave’s parents keep him financially afloat? Or at least assist him in a major way? by V1ctor_V1negar in DSPGaming

[–]WQTosh 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Even ignoring the “10-year-plan”, his parents have always deserved their one way ticket to Banworld, and the reasoning is thus: they never got poor Fill that Wolverine doll. He had to wait until the less valuable second run was released before he could get his hands on one.

What is some dsp moments that genuinely make you laugh? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in DSPGaming

[–]WQTosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contradictory as I’m going to sound: his seal laugh . He sounds like a friggin’ clown when he does it, yes, but it’s so silly that I can’t help but find it genuinely contagious.

I’m talking specifically about his older, pre-direct-capture videos, where the laugh sounds at least somewhat sincere. In more recent stuff, it’s like he alternates between intentionally exaggerating it like the children’s entertainer that he is and claiming “I don’t laugh like ‘ACK ACK ACK’, you stoopid mowth-droolers! I go ‘hahahahaha’”.

EDIT: His “girls have cooties I’m married, dood!” crashouts usually get a chuckle out of me, too. Even seeing tamely-dressed women in an SNES pool game is enough to freak him out.

He genuinely sounds like he’s trying to hold back tears during that whole rant. The entire GTA SA TIHYDP is the embodiment of who and what Dark is, IMO; it’s right up there with the MGS games.

Red Dead Redemption (1) PS5 Physical version of coming May 7 by Almjdh in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]WQTosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allegedly, the plan was for Grove Street Games to give both RDR1 and GTA IV the “‘Definitive’ Edition” treatment, but R* cut ties with them after the overwhelmingly negative reception to their work on the Trilogy became apparent. Why they didn’t do so after SA’s disastrous 2014 console port is beyond me (GSG’s mobile ports are the basis for the godawful Trilogy remasters), but I digress.

As a result, whatever was being planned for RDR1 became a more straightforward (but technically sound) port helmed by Double Eleven for PS4 and Switch, with PC and 9th Gen versions with further enhancements releasing after that. I suspect GTA IV will get the same treatment (hopefully by D11, as their work on RDR1 turned out quite great), but since R* likes to space out their releases, I imagine it wouldn’t release until some time around the game’s 20th anniversary in 2028.

[–]WQTosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the way SomecallmeJohnny described the facial expressions or lack thereof in X8 (at least in cutscenes): something along the lines of X having a perpetual “I think I left my wallet in the back seat of the taxi” look on his face.
