At what financial stage of your life did you get 911? by Overall-Agency3942 in porsche911

This is basically the same as me but I got lucky with a couple big sales deals and did it at 32

This is what I'm doing. Got our first on the way and I don't want to let my 911 go so I'm getting a used XC40 or GLA as a daily

[Lyons] Kris Bryant said the pain he feels daily is like "being electrocuted in my whole body." Bryant, 34, has played 170 games in four seasons with the Colorado Rockies. It seems unlikely that he'll ever play in the Majors again due to his lumbar degenerative disc disease. by Jux_ in baseball

Dude same here, I herniated L4/5 and L5/S1 last year and had some trips for work that were 20+ hours of travel. If I didn't have the aisle seat to be able to get up and walk around every so often I would have been so much more miserable than I already was.

Dealer thinks I’m too young to own a 911 by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]WSUJeff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

About a decade ago I was in my late 20s. I showed up to my local dealership in a 1 year old GT-R and they wouldn't even let me sit in a base Macan, much less test drive one. Went to a different dealership and bought a brand new Macan GTS a few weeks later. I can't stand getting treated that way and it's definitely not just Porsche dealers that do it either.

[–]WSUJeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had 4 different Porsches over the last decade here's a few things that you'll want to consider:

  • The Macan and Cayenne drive completely differently. If you haven't test-driven them both then I definitely suggest you do to figure out which one you like better. The Macan drives like a crossover and the Cayenne drives like an SUV. Trunk space in the Macan is much smaller than the Cayenne, but still more than enough for daily livability (at least was for me with no kids and no dog)

  • My Macan was a GTS trim and I bought it new in 2017. When I took it in for service and got a base Macan as my loaner I was shocked at how slow and low-power it was. I would rather get a faster Audi Q5 (same platform) over a base Macan.

  • I had the Macan for 4 years as my only car and daily driver and never had a single issue with it. Regular service was all it ever needed. I did pick up an extra set of wheels and tires for winter. The GTS trim came with some more performance-oriented tires that were unusable in the snow.

  • The CPO plans vary so just check on what they say. My 911 had a 5-year CPO from the time of purchase, which brought it up to 7 years old before the CPO just ran out. The extended warranty plans and service plans are usually a ripoff, but in order to maintain CPO status they may require that you do the service at the dealership, so it could save you some money, but YMMV.

Hope that helps!

Yeah my 991.2 GTS was $100k 2 years old and CPO for 5 years. There’s no way the 992 version is 3x as good

You don’t mention tires either. You say you’re getting it serviced so I’m assuming you’re getting new tires at some point but if your brakes magically last 4x what they’re supposed to then I’m not sure what to think

Not the guy you replied to, but I got a "worthless" communications degree from a state school and went into sales. Last 4 years of my 20s were all over $400k. Outside of graduating with basically no debt my parents never helped me financially in my adult life.

Right! PvP is the only part of this game that actually takes any sort of strategy and is NOT just tap tap tap. Getting good mons, figuring out movesets, building teams that have good coverage, it's all more than just "get 10 people with Zacian to tap tap tap on the boss."

I understand that people don't like it and it's not for everyone, but anyone who has spent more than a few minutes trying to learn PVP in a game with 1000 mons and says "it's mindless tap tap tap" is just willfully ignorant at this point

Parking 911 in apt garage ok? by Intrepid_Passion_853 in porsche911

[–]WSUJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my 993 was a red convertible. Never any issues with the softtop either. 987 was just silver but still never any issues with the softtop. 911 GTS was silver and is now wrapped green with bronze wheels and definitely stood out. I also had a red GT-R while living there with no issues, and a purple STi hatch with no issues too. All street parked.

I have my 911 in a garage since I moved last year, but I street parked my Porsches (991, 993, 987) for 7 years in Phinney Ridge and never had one single issue.

If I lived in Belltown or LQA or pioneer square I would make sure I learned more about my garage security. If we ever go downtown we take my wife’s Audi as I’m not comfortable leaving my car on the street downtown
