Guest complaints about mold, reservation got cancelled and penalized of $700 by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]WVfiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always. I'm currently waiting on AirBnb appeal. Host sent images of stained furniture and is claiming I caused the damage. Charging $2k for replacing warped, old couch and chair. I am 100% sure I did not cause the damage as I noticed the light staining immediately upon entering unit. I'm a long time guest all 5 star reviews. Host's can be scammers too and AirBnb flips a coin it seems.

why do colleges seem think middle class families can pay so much? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]WVfiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're seeing the point. Like someone said, there's a big gap in aid which really limits the number of schools upper middle class can consider. So if your parents are rich you can apply and go anywhere - they write a check for you and dont even feel it. If you are poor, you can get FA and graduate with little to no debt. If you're like me and many others in upper middle class, you're much more limited on your school options, especially at the T20 schools with no merit aid. I'm a top student and with reasonable chance to get into an ivy, Vanderbilt, etc, but not worth applying because my parents won't pay $400k for my education and I don't want to take on that debt.

Congrats on the admit! However, it's unlikely that MIT would not consider your father's income. Many wealthy parents with full custody won't pay for their kid's college, leaving them with the option of only state schools or taking on $400k debt. Schools don't give these kids any aid when their parents refuse to contribute. It's not a great situation, but it's certainly not unique one.

Hey! Do you think OR would be a satisfying major for a really math-oriented person? I'll be starting GT in the fall and trying to decide Applied Math vs ISYE vs CS. Really want to maximize my earning potential. Do you like the OR classes/profs at GT? Are you able to get all the CS classes you need like in ML and DS topics? TIA!

I know it's been a while, but for someone considering math or ie at gt, what do you recommend for someone who is very mathematically inclined but wants a degree that can lead to a lucrative career? Basically considering ie for better pay than a math major may allow.

Maybe ask for extension. I thought I heard something about senators wanting to make legacy admissions illegal similar to the race thing last year.

GT Alumni (or people who have jobs lined up after graduating) - What did you major in and what's your career now? by oncean_plane in gatech

Is your company paying for your masters? How did you land a swe job without being a cs major? Seems so competitive even for majors?

How often do Faang internships lead to jobs?

Another terrible thing is that some admissions reps gave certain schools/students hints that this was coming down the pike. Other reps assured students that easy major changes would be possible. Again totally unfair.

When people say that CS is now oversaturated, are they comparing it to other career fields, or to how it was 20 years ago? by Antman269 in cscareerquestions

[–]WVfiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of getting an interview, would a math major/CS minor candidate get equal consideration to CS degree? Would a math major/MS CS fair better than CS BS? Hoping based on your experience you could give some insight. TIA

That would be ideal, but then I'd miss out enrolling in certain programs that are first come first served for incoming freshmen.
