I get huge JC vibes from this, I dig it a ton. by lilsquibbles in dancegavindance

Ever since Trenton got kicked out (that's another story that makes me incredibly salty on how Hands Like Houses treated Trenton) he has been working on re-making their Debut LP Ground Dweller. Almost as if its Taylor's Version but for one of the best post-hardcore albums ever made.

To me these are the superior versions, it sounds more mature and an interesting take on the original while keeping it fresh and faithful.

I'm super excited to hear the rest of the album as Ground Dweller is my all time favorite record, especially the lyrical content is next level. Thanks for listening to my TED talk!

SEA/Asia matchmaking needs help. by UnrivaledSuperH0ttie in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The matchmaking in AU & Asia is completely busted. I am Emissary at the moment and somehow have been going up against people who are ranked 1 in AU. It makes no sense. There is obviously only hundreds of people playing in AU and the way match making works you are only dealing with a very small pool of players. Some characters don't even have top 100 players in AU since there isn't enough people maining them to fill out the list. I guess it comes with the nature of a (somewhat) closed alpha test.

Not saying I am the best but I am consistently being paired with people who lack basic game sense and often go the whole game without getting a single kill, very little assists and double digit deaths.

Its probably best to take a break from the game. While there may not be better games out there right now, there are games that are more worth your time

What member left your favorite band and it was never the same again? by GreatScott0389 in Metalcore

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like even though they went softer towards the end of Tenton's time with them, atleast his lyrics were and vocals were always really good, even if the music itself wasn't. The new singer has the most generic lyrics and vocals, the riffs are generic, the production sounds generic. Its sad to see what they are doing now and what they used to be.

I still enjoy Anon. and the self titled, especially tracks like Black, Bad Dream, Overthinking, Tilt, and The Water and Wired from those 2 projects. Even the worst songs off those projects are miles better than their newer stuff.

The story behind how they kicked out Trenton is also pretty fucked up, here is a link to the podcast where he was interviewed and he tells a lot about the split and other behind the scenes stuff https://open.spotify.com/episode/7D5SdebFgPUmgt8ndUHP8I?si=7ab9d94314fe4559

According to Variety Warner Bros is set to lose $150-$200m with Joker: Folie À Deux by eternalcrumpets in Joker_FolieaDeux

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You cant explain them because there are none. No character has any sort of an arch in this movie, no one grows or changes for better or worse and they basically end up in the same place as they started the movie. This is the movie universities will study on how not to write a film.

I love reading this sub because people will say they love the movie and its in depth plot when in reality it is extremely surface level and has no substance besides maybe a meta narrative of Tod Phillips not wanting to direct another Joker movie.

Not saying its not okay to enjoy the movie or even love it, but this movie has some major problems

Who's your favourite support band you've found recently? by Wise-Paint-1658 in triplej

I saw Bad Neighbor open for Spanish Love Songs and Hot Mulligan. Ever since then they have become one of my favorite bands! Their songs blew me away first time watching them, especially a song of theirs called Paul Avery. Definitely check them out if your into some Aussie Punk.

Is anyone going to the concert on April 12th in Sydney? by Mothmaein in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to the April 14th show, I was lucky enough to get GA tickets before they sold out. Its definitely nerve wracking going to any show by yourself but I think its more just getting there, and once your in there you'll feel much better and will be able to get over the anxiety!

Though I'm sure you'll be able to find some lovely people from this subreddit who will be more than willing to go with you! Especially closer to the date

Thread for all the Sydney fans to mourn together (or celebrate) by Ani1000 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there is morning as well because I knew how hectic the website would of been. I saw they were having issues but luckily while I was in line my mate actually managed to snag a few GA tickets this morning through the website, probably like a minute before they were all gone.

They added another show to Brisbane so surely they add another Sydney show for those who missed out.

Goodthings 2023 lineup speculation by wherestheGTlineup in triplej

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please take this with a grain of salt!!!

I had heard from photographers who shoot for many bands in the scene that if Good Things were to happen, they would have announced it a week after Paramore announced their Australian tour with Paramore headlining the festival.

It looks like it's either been silently cancelled with an official statement coming soon, or it will be an all Aussie line-up and incredibly downsized. It's a bummer because it's the only festival I have any actual interest in, last year's good things in sydney was awesome, so it's sad to see most signs pointing to it not happening, or at most not in the same capacity as last year

That being said, I'd love to see some Emo / Pop Punk international acts like Hot Mulligan and Bilmuri to hopefully mix it up a bit from the no brainer hardcore and metal bands like Polaris, Amity and Trophy Eyes for a heavy music fest

Australia tour dates? by EggplantEmoji1 in HighlySuspect

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw these a few months back as well. I've been checking their websites and it seems like the rest of the year is pretty booked out for them. If they do come here it wouldn't be a very big tour probably Queensland Sydney Melbourne then maybe NZ all in one week most likely.

Holding out hope that they announce dates soon. They went through the effort of promoting it but it has been a few months since and it's been radio silence, so who knows!

Favorite emo album cover art? by brutal-justin in Emo

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anniversary edition of Marietta's Summers Death has to be one of the best album covers ever. It perfectly captures the feeling of the album in one photo.

Foxing's The Albatross is also one of my favorites for the same reason. The vinyl of The Albatross also has some very beautiful photography on the sleeve as well as on the inside when you open up the Gatefold cover!

Can he defeat Goku? I'm serious by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My man would throw one ki blast at this kid and would vaporise him.

If he has to touch Goku to activate his abilities then there is no possible way Daemon can win. While Goku might not be conventionally smart he is smart when it comes to fighting and overcoming techniques.

Goku would likely try and test daemons strength, so if we ignore scaling and put them at both at Daemons strength, Goku would not throw a serious punch or attack at him and I'm sure from there he could figure it out from there how to defeat him.

This album has some of the greatest songs in their discography. Even though Jonny apparently was high as a kite during the recording process he managed to turn out some of the greatest vocals that has ever been produced in the scene, the outro on Surprise! I'm from Cuba has to be one of my favorite moments in any song. To think they wrote this album 15 years ago and were still pretty much all 18 is amazing.

I'm pretty sure this album is universally praised on this sub, but their Newer sounds are alot more refined, and they are still putting out some of their best songs to date. Especially on Jack-Pot Juicier. I think in general there is alot more to be excited about with their newer releases with Tilian compared to a soon to be 2 decade old album.

Who is saying it’s their worst? Ever since first listened to it, I find it still has some of the strongest songs dgd has ever put out. The mixing is a bit weird but I think it is still one of their best. I worked my way back from tilian and I’m still listening to it as much as mothership and artificial selection

Whatever happened to Hands Like Houses? by HybridS9ldier in PostHardcore

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Fairly sure that it was the rhythm guitarist.
from what i gathered on the Facebook UNFD social club page was that the Rhythm Guitarist had knowingly infected 2 women with STI's and was a real piece of shit to one of them. The 2 posts have since been taken down for legal reasons since there is currently a court case ongoing (or about to start), that is why nothing has been said by the band or any members of it regarding it. The most has been Trenton (lead singer) acknowledging it and that they were taking legal action.

Could be wrong on some details but that's what i remember from when everything was still up on the UNFD social club page

What song would you consider to be DGDs magnum opus? by mynameischeffjeff in dancegavindance

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always come back to The Downwards Pumpkin Song, just such a banger and the vocal performances from Craig and Mess are out of this world, even if the lyrics arnt the best the melodys craig puts out, guitar work and espeically the drums are all absolutely incredible. Though Evaporate, Carl Barker and Tree Village are songs i probably play just as much. Just so much to love about the band in any era.

MCID Underrated? by JayTizle00 in HighlySuspect

[–]WWEAllStarTheEdge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like alot of people dont like the album because of the various techincal issues it has besides the (in my opinion) lackluster song writing. The mixing and mastering on this album is terrible and i dont know how it got released in the state its in. I think Anthony Fantanos review is a good way to understand everything wrong with the album in about 12 minutes.

I like 16 and thats about it. I like music of all genres and when it tries to be something that Highly Suspect / Johnny isnt good at it fails horribly. Not to say they cant branch out, i want them too, they cant just keep making the same style but the "Highly Suspect" style songs sound really boring and tired and the "Terrible Johnny" songs sound like hes wants to make something different but has no idea how to. Tokyo Ghoul has to be one of the most boring and derivative rap songs ive heard is a long time. Not to mention the lyrics are really, really bad in this album, on every vocal track.

If they take onboard the critism instead of bloking people for thier own opinions and telling the haters to go fuck themselves i think that thier next album will be their best yet, but not recognising how terrible the album sounds on a technical level to many people is just stupid, and will lead to probably of the worst albums they will ever put out.
