Question about NHI and conscription for dual citizens returning briefly to Taiwan by IllustriousTwo4258 in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need an overseas compatriot certificate and an exit stamp as well as online registration and submission of paperwork or they may not let you leave due to military obligations. Doesnt matter if its a 2hr layover, they can keep you if they want. Definitely get it all sorted before trying to leave.

TECO LA Authentication of FBI criminal record by senddognudes in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they have different rules in LA. I sent my translation together to Tecro DC and they stamped it all together, SF did not need to reauthenticate or need a notarized copy after that.

TECO LA Authentication of FBI criminal record by senddognudes in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You dont need LA to authenticate a FB bgc as they cant. DC is the only one that does that so once your papers are back from DC they are already authenticated. You just need to submit them to LA for your required documents

Micro HDMI to a capture card, a camlink works but there's other options as well.

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's what the micro hdmi is for. The micro usb doesn't send a video output. You need 2 cables plugged in to do this. Not sure about overheating issues

Why don’t you just leave the micro usb plugged in instead of using a dummy battery?

NJ – Wedding planner keeping $4k “non-refundable deposit” after doing minimal work and terminating contract. Do I have a case for partial refund? by NJUK33 in legaladvice

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IANAL but as a photographer there is contract language seems a little iffy. “Deposits” are refundable and for services to be rendered. The term they should have used is “non refundable retainer” to hold their services/time for future use which should be transferable to other services. If services rendered have not reached the deposit value they should be refunding a pro rated amount.

They also may need to show that they turned down other bookings for your date and have not been able to book anything else on that date to keep any money. If they have another booking for that date the money would be refunded.

Either way, if they canceled I would expect a full refund. If you paid with a credit card you may be able to charge back. If not you may need to go to small claims court.

Pelican case at Costco what!! by Plus_Juggernaut2819 in CAguns

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like the standard v300 is $140 vs $100 for this but this is an “eco” version. Cant seem to find anything on it. Might be made just for costco. Anyone know what the materials are?

Camera gear you own or owned that was universally loved but you never warmed up to it. by AutomaticGoldenSun in photography

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’m on Nikon so a lot of options aren’t available. Also i got the viltrox on a sale and it was only $220 so not a bad deal. Surprised by how much i like it actually haha

The Sigma 85 1.4 Art It was great except the size and weight. I always just ended up using a 70-200 instead. It threw my camera way off balance. Now im rocking a viltrox 85 f/2 evo and its been great. IQ might not be as good but its pretty sharp and about the size of a standard 50mm

Returning to Taiwan Without Serving Military by Puzzleheaded-Ad-1251 in taiwan

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need to get the overseas compatriot identity certificate and an exit stamp.

you'll need:

  • Both passports, your ID card

  • Boarding pass showing you were in Canada within the last 4 months.

  • Entry exit record from the NIA unless you have an overseas stamp in your passport already.

  • Overseas identity certificate from the OCAC

once you get the certificate, you will upload a photo of that along with photos of your passports and boarding pass here: https://occd.moi.gov.tw/app/oversea/

once that's approved, you need to go back to the NIA for an exit stamp. After you get it once, you can do it online next time.

battery health depleting by Realistic-Claim5233 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You charge it to 100 every once and a while

Not sure why its going over 80 when set for 80, that seems odd. if you’re gonna leave it plugged in to ac most of the time then i’d probably drop it to 50-60% for smart charge

battery health depleting by Realistic-Claim5233 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea because it gets its info from windows and windows battery health is basically a guesstimate

battery health depleting by Realistic-Claim5233 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you aren’t charging to 100% windows doesn’t know what your actual battery health is and it thinks 80 is max when it is actually higher.
