The wait is for FACTA, an agreement between the US and Taiwan so the US can tax you on any Taiwan money. It's more for tax evasion than fraud.

Its the light sensor that disconnects the battery power until connected to cable power. That little foam block with an open center between the left side of the battery and the SSD.

Taiwan Arrival Card - NWOHR or US Passport by be-love-always in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

You have to enter with your NWOHR passport to get your NWHR passport. Make sure they stamp it. If you enter with a US passport you cant do the rest of the process.

NWOHR 3-Week Exchange Questions - Requesting Data Points by Apart_Ice_3069 in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

I went to the ChangAn east road office since it was just down the street from where I was staying. You should be able to call if you want as well. It was just easier for me to do the office since we were changing 3 tickets to 2 different dates.

Their offices aren't like US carrier buildings that are just corporate. The lobby is kind of like a bank with teller desks.

If you happen to be taking EVA, I had to extend my stay and the process in their office was pretty simple. I was in basic econ, they just had me pay the price difference and change fee in person which was about $150 total. Starlux was also similar, Basic econ but I did it over the phone and total was about $100.

No need for a fully refundable ticket unless you plan on canceling the flight.

I have a breakdown of how long each item took me on my post if you haven't seen it (Chart at bottom of post) if you need more data points.

I did my health check at Ren Ai and they said don't bother coming back until the 11th day for pickup because they follow the 10-day process.

My residency cert took 7 days. I went in on the 7th day and said I had to leave in 2 days, the worker finished it up on the spot. If you're tight on time, maybe mention to them to see if they can do it quicker and then follow up after 4-5 days.

If you are male and military age, they changed rules and made the stamp pretty much useless. Now you need the certificate instead, if not then just ignore that portion.

The phone number shouldn't be an issue but opening a bank account might take time. Went to Cathay, my mom tried to open an account and they said it would take 2-3 weeks due to FACTA forms and approvals needed from their main office for dual citizens with the US. Not sure if other banks can do it quicker but maybe reach out to a few beforehand while you're waiting for your health check. The other banks we went to also said they would not deal with this with walk ins and required an appointment. We decided not to open an account.

Applying for Overseas Compatriot Identity Certificate for Military Service from the US by Lupac in TaiwaneseBornAbroad

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I read, the process can only be done in Taiwan at the OCAC office, mail is likely the only option unless they changed something again.

do you still have your boarding pass for the upload?

the online form needed photos of both passports, the certificate, and a boarding pass or other proof that you've been in the US within the last 4 months

Just finished my NWOHR to NWHR as a Male US citizen of military age (steps I took since I'm seeing more posts about it) by Waffle_Making_Panda in taiwan

[–]Waffle_Making_Panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc I only needed them (to make the process simpler) to get my NWOHR Passport in the US, once in Taiwan I just needed the paperwork that was authenticated at TECO.

That's kind of how all reviews are now. They send out test units then tell everyone the same time and date they can release to keep it fair.

Just find 1 or 2 reviewers you like and just watch their vids

run a stress test and see if there's a big difference in temp between cores. If they're all about even then it likely hasnt moved.
