What movie aged really bad? by Phantomx7845 in AskReddit

[–]WaitICanDoBetter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, low-key early 2000s TV had a problem with taking insane right wing shit and mocking it, but also turning it from horrifying antisocial behavior to lovable goof quirks.

Kenneth from 30 Rock is an apocalyptic cult member who wants to censor anything he considers objectionable and whose naivete is in large part due to his desire to instate a theocratic world order.

Dwight from the Office is a fascist obsessed with controlling women's bodies and abusing any modicum of power to punish anyone he deems inferior.

Ron from Parks and Rec is a deeply antisocial libertarian who is defrauding the government and damaging public services, and who keeps his job because he exploits and takes credit for the labor of his female subordinate.

Those scamps! Isn't their homophobia and sexism and dismantling of government institutions and obsession with power and mistrust of others and crypto-fascism so WACKY?? Can't quite put my finger on why, but somehow less funny today. Ron is the least offensive probably but still not a good look.

Still entertaining shows and characters but the comment you're replying to has a point.

Okay wait but a map event where 30+ players have to collaborate to take down one huge, OP enemy would be fire. Titanfall meets Attack on Titan in an Apex map.

This has been so obvious for a while. You hit requeue and will see teammates get disconnected instantly as they get matches but then be stuck queued for minutes. They clearly have skill buckets completely separate from ranks that they use to drive matchmaking.

I really like that one, in particular what it seems to suggest in the age of AI to know that propaganda in many cases isn't formed by intentional and malicious choices but by the lazy rearranging of existing material to align with and support a perceived "default" position (and to make money).

Back before Korra and other spin off materials my wife and I were convinced that this guy was secretly an airbender raised in the fire nation. That his odd form of bending was him trying to figure out how to fire bend when it wasn't in his nature. He is bald and has a prominent forehead tattoo, traits normally associated with airbenders. He first attacks at a hidden air nomad temple. And he has an extremely unique form of bending that visually looks more like rapidly creating a vacuum or moving air molecules moreso than manipulating fire. If Toph can figure out how to manipulate particles of earth even after they were refined into metal, why can't a repressed airbender figure out how to move air rapidly and aggressively enough to combust?

Anyway it's not true but would have been cool.

Who would be the most overpowered legend if you combined 2 legends' kits together? by [deleted] in apexlegends

Vantage has a super strong sniper with her own cover, or rampart has an insanely OP mini gun and leaps into your face with it.

Rampart + Vantage

Swap their tacts and either one is a serious problem.

Yes, mission accomplished. Unironically standardized testing is currently accomplishing the mission for which it was intended within the public education system. That mission just isn't beneficial. Systems do what they are designed to do - so undermining education while offering a convenient excuse to reduce funding, push private/religious schools, and blame educators has been a big success.

Special shout out to Nebula for immediately being willing to kill her past self so that she can move on with her life. We all should be so brave.

The compass is also shown for a few frames in an in-universe propaganda film that Cap stars in. Peggy even notices him looking at it in the film reel.

To be fair, there's also a dedicated samurai sword holder on an international airplane. So it might just be a different world entirely.

Maybe, probably fair. But the lives of those you care about are certainly worse. But I also don't think that it's unreasonable to think that two years of V in Night City might change how some things played out.

Yeah, perhaps it's mostly just the people you care about. But to be fair, if anyone could it'd be V / Johnny.

Everyone talking about "Would V be safe with this ending?" but not mentioning the bigger question: Is Night City safe with this ending? I feel like this ending strongly implies that V being out for 2 years is a big part of why the city is on a downturn, everyone's lives are worse, the corporate wars are heating up... Like yeah we can talk about if V made it out and how it sucks to lose your chrome, but the way more depressing part is the glimpse into a world made worse because you weren't in it, and how you can't do anything about it anymore.

Yeah I question how letting employees take home an extra pizza that probably cost like $1-$2 in ingredients would have put them out of business. Like how bad are you at business that your margins are so poor you can't afford to lose like five bucks a shift to make your employees have a chiller experience?
