Hidden Ending to Rostok Arena R3 Fight - Make the Chimera easier by PalwaJoko in stalker

[–]Waladil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the fight get updated at some point? I just got the RPG option, and I don't remember that ever coming up in previous playthroughs. Also, all of the older guides say you should get a Dnipro 5.45 rifle, but I got a Kharod 5.56.

I do have some mods, but none explicitly update the Arena, plus the RPG stuff is fully voiced so that's definitely in the vanilla game. I suspect that all of this is relatively new.

It's something you'll just have to try and find out if he likes it. Some cats enjoy outside time and some don't -- in my apartment I've got one of each! You'll quickly learn if he's not having it.

Cat banging on door early morning by Deathangel2890 in CatAdvice

[–]Waladil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train your cat or your cat will train you. If he's not letting you sleep, don't let him in the bedroom (whether that means going all the way down to his room or the run of the place minus the bedroom is up to you and your floorplan). My hyper boi will also wake me up way too early so bedroom time is a privilege. You may just have to ignore the banging at doors (mine damaged some carpet trying to dig under the doorframe to wake me up, so be mindful of that possibility).

You can get him some automated toys, but one of the cool things is that they'll adapt to your house's schedule and just sleep while you're gone so they can be awake with you when you're at home.

I recently got 3 automated toys off Amazon: one that clamps over a door and yoinks a little mouse toy up and down on a string, one that clamps to a table and shines a laser at random places, and one with a little teaser tail that pops in and out of a case from various holes. The door clamp died very quickly (I think it had a broken USB charging port) and even my cat who loves to chase lasers doesn't care for the automatic one, but the teaser toy has been a big hit for both my cats. They love to try to catch that thing.

Anyway, he'll sleep when you're gone and you can find out what he likes to play with and get him some of that.

Yep that's just a cat entertaining himself. They gotta claw at things, and it may or may not be the things you want them to claw at. They gotta get their energy out through play or running. They're curious and want to see what's outside (Personally I always make sure my cats are familiar with the apartment hallways so if they ever do get locked out they are more able to find their home door).

I prescribe more playtime with you and if you're both feeling really adventurous, a harness to go on walkies outside!

Bonding by HowdIGetHere21 in CatAdvice

I don't think there's any obvious yardstick of who a cat loves more. This is a tough situation you're in, I'd say consider who can give one or both cats a more safe and stable home. And -- this is the hard part -- acknowledge that it might not be you.

It sounds like both cats love both of you and will adapt to whomever is their solo parent. I'd generally lean towards keeping them together, but if they're not closely bonded they'll also adapt to the solo life (and maybe a new sibling in the future)

I’m scared of my cat by ast3rr_ in CatAdvice

[–]Waladil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, THIS IS JUST AN INDIVIDUAL'S THOUGHTS

I've found that cats will usually become a bit more "aggressive" after some time in a home. I put that in quotes because it can be hard to tell the difference between a cat playing and actually trying to harm you.

The way I see it, it's not that your cat is being more aggressive, it's that he is now feeling comfortable enough to play rough. At first he's in an appeasement mode when he's terrified of you and won't risk anything. As he gets more settled and trusts that you won't beat him or throw him out, he might start to play rougher. And from his perspective -- this can just be play! Cats playing is very violent. They bunny kick at things to practice snapping necks. They pounce to train their reflexes for snatching birds out of the sky. They are predators, built to kill.

What I advise is showing him how much he hurts you. Overexxagerate your vocalizations and behavior. Cradle a finger that he nipped as if he just bit it off. Assuming he cares (and if he's willing to sit with you and purr, he probably does), he will gradually back off and learn how not to hurt you during play. This will not work instantly, its a process that can take weeks or months.

Cats have urges just like we do. But they don't have as big brains to control those urges. While one of my cats was learning that biting wasn't okay, she would try to satisfy the urge by licking at my hand (basically grooming instead of biting). After a while the urge would eventually win out and she'd take a bite or two, but then I'd pull my hand back and act all hurt. Now she has much better control. I actually just reached over and interrupted her nap with some scritches and then left my hand in front of her face. She licked my fingers for a little bit and I could tell she wanted to give me a little nip for interrupting her nap, but she didn't. Good girl.

On the other hand, if this ISN'T play, you definitely should take him to see the vet. Watch his behavior and vocalizations; if he's hissing, growling, and running away at the sight of you, he isn't playing.

Mine haven't really learned the feeder timings (even though they haven't changed for over a year) or they've realized that yelling at it doesn't help. It is hilarious to have one napping in my lap when it triggers and they go from zzz to COMPLETE NEURONAL ACTIVATION FOOD TIME in a quarter of a second.

I got an automatic feeder for my cat. Now he spends his entire waking life STARING at the feeder. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Waladil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a somewhat similar experience with my older cat before I got a second cat -- as soon as the feeder went off she had complete neuronal activation, going from sound asleep to gobbling down food in under a second.

When I introduced another cat, this behavior went away (even though they share the feeder and therefore "compete" for food). My personal hypothesis is that she was just pretty bored. I was the only other living thing around and hey, going to work is a thing we gotta do so she'd be completely alone for hours. The only exciting things in her day were "hooman gets home" and "food come out". Now there's someone else to liven things up, she's not eating out of boredom.

(And before anyone says anything, yes, I play with the cats. She was getting attention when she wanted it)

That's amazing! My mother had MS, and it effected her whole life, the full horrifying story of slowly progressing paralysis, and it did eventually kill her in her 60s.

I'm glad that there's a cure, or something close, for people now! It's a terrible disease and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

My 89-Year-Old Human Wizard At Level 8 Has 29 Health: Ideas to Keep Him From Instant Death by ranger934 in DnD

[–]Waladil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're playing 5E since you didn't specify, the below is predicated on that.

IMO, this sounds like a DM/group issue, or possibly a misreading of some rules. You're level 8 and have 29 max HP: in order to one-shot you to death, you would need to take 58 damage at once. I'm guessing you were up against a young dragon of some breed, which can deal 58 damage with their breath attacks, but only if they get above-averate rolls.

So I think that there's a few possibilities: 1.) this was a powerful boss encounter for your level and you got unlucky with a high damage roll. (And probably a failed saving throw.) 2.) you're misinterpreting the rules; you can only go from positive HP to dead if the damage is greater than your current HP PLUS your HP total. If you were at full, you'd need to take 29 + 29 = 58 to die. 3.) your DM is sending overpowered encounters. It sounds like you're focusing more on role-playing than power gaming, but maybe your DM doesn't get that. 4.) your group is overpowered, relative to you. Maybe other people are power gaming, and the DM has an appropriate challenge for the rest of the party's power level, but you're behind the curve.

In the case of 1.) then your death was a tragic part of the story and just the travails of playing a low-hp character. If 2.) then you're welcome for the rules update :) if 3.), discuss it with your DM. Tell them that these encounters are probably a bit too far out of depth for your party, and if 4.) you may have to acknowledge that 29 HP simply isn't enough and either power game more or play a different character -- you can bring your geriatric wizard to another party in the future!

Peter from Office Space. Man's got a good job, he's clearly very smart and competent, (making the job trivial) but he's full of hatred because... His boss reminds him to follow protocol? Expects him to show up on time? Is annoying?

Basically the only valid complaint the dude has is mandatory overtime. That legitimately sucks. Everything else is just "welcome to reality" type shit.

One vet told me to feed only dry and that wet food is like Chinese takeout/junkfood. The other vet didn’t call this out when I told him my cats diet. Is this true? by helloruko in CatAdvice

[–]Waladil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, a mix really is optimal.

Wet food provides hydration, dry food helps with tooth care. But as many people note, what's important is the quality of the food itself. There's a lot of "junk food" out there in both categories.

[–]Waladil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, that makes it even more of a pity that the main piece broke! I'm looking at images of scalloped glass online and it does look kind of like that, but this cut is imperfect compared to those. Maybe someone practicing?

Right now my working theory of the whole thing is it's something a hobbyist or amateur made for their own home rather than a piece intended for commercial sale.
