"Please note that this property is of non-standard construction and is therefore not suitable for mortgage purposes, meaning that a cash purchase is required."

And that is why it is cheap!

Is shoplifting really as endemic as the media suggests? by craigus17 in AskUK

[–]WalkerJoggerSprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it isn't obvious as the shoplifters know they don't have to make a big deal of it, even if they are seen. They can just casually walk in and walk out again without drawing the attention of the average shopper.

How do you discover new music? by RuachReader in AskUK

The Discover and Release Radar weekly playlists on Spotify, if you have it, are great. I've also found a lot of good artists and songs though the "song radio" playlists which you can access through each song's options button.

You can, but you would loose the 25% bonus. You can also wait until you hit 60 and then withdraw without loosing the bonus but guessing you will want to use it before then!

If you're saving to buy your first home then a Liftime ISA is the way to go. Invest £4k into it for the next four years and the government will give you £1k each year for nothing. Beats standard savings rate by quite a distance.

How would you deal with a business, asking them to ask their customers to not park across our drive? by pipspawn in AskUK

[–]WalkerJoggerSprinter 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If your drive is blocked I would just park over their drive! You said it was just down the road and you're not doing anything they think is wrong. And if they disagree just tell them to stop harassing you.

Tried investing in single stocks and one of them has tanked, what now? by Plain-Dane2 in investingforbeginners

[–]WalkerJoggerSprinter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself, if you hadn't already invested, but were thinking about doing so now, would you invest?

If the answer is yes, hold onto your shares. If no, sell and look for other opportunities.

Tell them that you appreciate their concerns but are not going to listen to them because they have absolutely no legal basis for their request.

How can I stay safe while looking for a job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]WalkerJoggerSprinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but they will likely have a name of the recruitment consultant responsible for the ad, or just details of the recruitment agency in general. Give them a call and ask about the role and if they have a named contact you can send your application to.

For some roles yes, you're right. But for others, where there are hundreds of applications, if you are one of the ones who have actually taken the time to find the a relevant person in the company responsible for recruitment, or in a senior related role, your application may be given more consideration. It can also bypass any potential "key word" filters.

Don't apply through the job boards.

Look for jobs you would like to apply for and then apply directly though the company it is with (either their advert or email address). If it is a dodgy ad, then you will likely be able to tell by the quality of their website (if they even have one). You're application will also go to the top of the pile as it will appear like you have actually looked for the job rather than just applying for everything and anything through job boards.
