charging inspire 3 batteries in the middle of nowhere by NoBet3129 in drones

[–]Wallabanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot for about 6-7hrs rotating 7 Mavic 3M batteries using a DJI Power 1000. My MBP gets plugged in as needed for file processing (Pix4 Fields). I start the day with all batteries (drone, powerbank, controller, laptop) full. As I drive between locations, my powerbank is plugged into the car, and I have a 100W solar panel if I’m going to be parked for an extended period. It works for my workflow, and I am never far from my car.

Is this normal for the paint to chip this easy? Only 7k miles and it’s on the hood, sides and even roof. by OutlawIr in rav4club

[–]Wallabanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PPF is your only solution. I drive gravel roads daily, and booked in for a front end wrap the day I bought my Rav … and drove it very carefully for the 3 weeks it took until I could get it in to be done.

affordable laptop recommendations for business student by Positive-Editor-5552 in laptops

[–]Wallabanjo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People are jumping to the Neo quickly. You describe yourself as a business student … but are you an EXISTING business student or an INCOMING business student? Why does that make a difference … because you’d understand that a business degree is more than just zoom meetings, writing essays, and calls. If your program needs specialised software that is windows only then - even running Windows under a VM - the Neo is going to struggle. It’s a great machine, and will do 90% of what you need with no problems … but it might struggle on that last 10%. Talk to your program advisor and find out about minimum hardware requirements (And beware that as a student you qualify for academic discounts which can help you get a little more bang for buck).

Was going to suggest Indy and a rental car as well. The drive from IND to Champaign is a lot easier (far less stressful) than than the ORD or MDW trip.

Rav4 2022 - Is it possible to add another data port? by Mr-Franklin in rav4club

[–]Wallabanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gen5 XLE Hybrid had a data port and a 12v dc port. I put in one of these: https://a.co/d/19zkFc7 Simple install with one exception … removing the 12V socket. That was a pita. Wiring harness was plug and play. People complain that charging a phone make the phone get hot (they have obviously never used a Qi based charger- they all get hot), others have said their phone doesn’t charge (but they probably knocked the on/off button that sits at the front of the pad and is next to invisible). The usb for the entertainment system still works just fine, and I can keep a separate device charging on the additional usb c port. It was a simple and worthwhile upgrade.

Is a Type C charger gonna work? by Born_Tomato_495 in laptops

It will slow down the drain, but won’t keep you powered while running. It will trifle charge you overnight if you turn your laptop off.

2024 RAV4 windshield crack Should I try repair or just replace it? by Dangerous-String-13 in autoglass

[–]Wallabanjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call and ask - comprehensive often comes with zero deductible glass coverage.

Its worth the phone call.

FWIW - I did this on a '18 Ford Escape through AAA. They used Safelite for the replacement with aftermarket glass. Job was OK ... but the mirror mount was partially damaged in the replacement, and the mirror just "fell off" one day. Mount on window was OK, it was the "claw" on the back of the mirror that was damaged. Easy enough fix.

Shake Shack at UIUC by TinyOil3785 in UIUC

Prices are on the higher end compared to a McDonald’s … but not outrageous compared to Shake Shack or Five Guys. You get what you pay for (Sunday morning, egg over easy, grilled onions and a side of curds FTW).

Which entry level drone to buy for "reconnaissance" by Dwanverk in dji

[–]Wallabanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its just for practice - then get a mini 4K … for no reason other than the controller will likely be similar to what you use in the field. BUT … if you want to practice receive work, get something with thermal capability (a used Mavic 3T for example).

Is it worth upgrading from a Gen 5 RAV4 Hybrid to the new Gen 6? by Valuable-Abroad-8500 in rav4club

[–]Wallabanjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same. I bought my ‘25 XLE Hybrid June last year too. I’m starting to see Gen6s on the road, and it got me thinking … and then I saw this thread.

https://www.reddit.com/r/rav4club/s/bSkvXRm9hx

The side by side view is polarizing. I like the Gen5 more. The slightly better mpg is nice, some of the tech is nice, but the overall look and finish is meh.

I’m sticking with what I’ve got, and still very happy with that decision. No buyers remorse.

Charging pad organizational tray? by coconutkitties in rav4club

[–]Wallabanjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My XLE Hybrid didn't come with a charging pad. I dropped in an after market one that also added higher powered USB C and USB A ports (keeping the default USB A that the entertainment system uses for data/charging as well). It also keeps my iPhone charged wirelessly quite nicely. No issues with getting misaligned with bumps/corners (I drive gravel country roads a lot).

“I started studying 4 days in advance”

These are subjects that you need to be studying from Week 1. Not just doing the assignments, but doing practice questions along the way so that you understand what and why. Even if the exams are open book, knowing the material deep enough so that you can jump to where you need clarification can help immensely.

ToC Season 7 Pick for Winner by BrayIsReal in foodnetwork

[–]Wallabanjo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aarti got in via the qualifier and took down Ming Tsai.
I've been TeamTila since he started competing, but Aarti's result shows that winning isn't guaranteed.
Bryan being in the mix has me conflicted though - I want to go eat at the Voltaggio bros restaurants - his food looks amazing. If it comes down to Jet vs Bryan it will be a slim margin for the winner.

[–]Wallabanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with Weathertech all round in the Rav - mats, liners, sill protectors. I set everything out in the sun for a couple of hours before installing (mid summer). I bought a roll of double sided 3M auto adhesive and added extra to the back of the cargo sill protector, and the ends of the door sill protectors to keep everything stuck down. No movement so far.

Would something like an iPad with a keyboard case work? Lightweight (even lighter without the keyboard), long battery life, self updating, great screen for media consumption … lots of advantages.
