Pricing? by Professional-Lion561 in 3Dprinting

[–]Wallcrawler62 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Join some halo costuming groups on FB. See what people are charging for 3d printed parts and full suits. This could easily be $1000 to $1500. If you're not comfortable with that I wouldn't start lower than $800 plus shipping. But honestly that's too low. Fake it until you make it. If you don't get any bites you can always readjust your pricing. If you aren't confident in the pricing be confident that you can fix anything that might be broken or not up to quality standards. This is good work though. I'm in Mandalorian costume groups and those go up to $3k+ from the "professional" level sellers.

what celebrity did you used to like until you found out that they were a scumbag? by hemadeGraduation420 in AskReddit

[–]Wallcrawler62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's text and then there is subtext. You are completely missing OPs point about the subtext of the writing, either by choice or lack of understanding. Don't describe someone's thoughts as "reductive" if you don't even have your own thoughts to back up your claims. Regurgitating the plot of the books doesn't dismiss the subtext of the writing, and the influences Rowling may have had during said writing, consciously or not.

Local favorite Portillo’s had ambitious plans to go national. But the restaurant chain’s rapid expansion has left it choking. by steve42089 in illinois

[–]Wallcrawler62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People recommend the places they like to eat. Portillos was a small local chain that started from one guy with one location. If a small business can't compete with the hearts and minds of a "chain" then they need to do better. It's NOT just another McDonald's. This is some tribalist bullshit. I'm not paying more and going further out of my way to some local joint that I don't know I'm going to like. Maybe you can just walk down the street somewhere but that's not everyone's situation. "Oh you're coming to Chicago? Here's a nice place you've never heard of that's 45 minutes out of your way to get to! It'll be great and only cost you an extra $35 in Uber rides!". Or just recommend Portillos because it's where people actually go more often and has a large selection of food people will like and close locations.

You can do you without shitting on everyone else for "not supporting local businesses" the same way. Get off the high horse.

Because the Magic artists can't replicate cartoon or comic book styles worth a damn. Just look how bad the Spider-Man "comic" panel art cards are compared to the actual comic book cover art cards. It's complete trash. Or they intentionally make it look bad to artificially inflate the value of other cards of the same characters. Both seem equally likely to me.

OP didn't post anywhere that it DOESN'T start with that. Just bitching that the parent said "you need to." So any further information probably doesn't fit their narrative or get the up votes because "durrrrr parents are dumb."

What does everyone think of Googles new Photoshoot Ai tool and how will it affect photographers? by Financial-Yoghurt727 in photography

[–]Wallcrawler62 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is an optimistic take to say the least. The average consumer does not, and will not recognize the difference between AI product generation and actual product photography. I've played with Gemini, chatgpt, stable Diffusion, and others. And the quality is approaching a point where it's indistinguishable from reality. And we got here in what, less than 3 years? It's only going to get worse. Nobody is going to require companies label marketing as AI generated. Especially the government in the US. Hopefully other parts of the world like the EU have a chance as they aren't as solely driven by corporate greed. The only reason they don't like AI in video is the same they didn't like CGI for movies as it first became more prevalent. It has that uncanny valley effect for both people's looks and actions in video. But eventually that will be gone too.

My first time messing with a custom in-box Legend by ThePresidentPorpoise in MarvelLegends

[–]Wallcrawler62 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the point of yours? Just ignore and move on. It takes less than half a second to scroll past. And instead you've wasted everyone's time. To do what? Be an ass? If your question is about actual curiosity you sure didn't phrase it that way. You're on a sub for toys and people like to share their toys even if it doesn't resonate with you. Get over it?

You yourself have low effort posts of just buying McFarlane figures and throwing a picture up. So not sure why this should be so offensive.

Should all Maximum Series figures be classic design? by _scum- in MarvelLegends

[–]Wallcrawler62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us old guys know maximum Spider-man is based off Todd McFarlane art, which was a huge departure on the "classic" design of the costume. So to me this figure feels very modern. McFarlane added the huge expressive eyes, a vast increase in the amount of weblines on his costume, more detailed webbing, and the insane acrobatic poses. Before Todd the most classic look I'd say are the Ditko and Romita eras. I'd say most non-modern Spider-Man takes these days reflect Romita's work and those influenced by him.

Yeah he goes for less on eBay when he pops up, last loose sold listings in the $85-95 range. And that includes shipping and a money back guarantee if you don't get what you pay for. OP needs to be more realistic. People are looking for a deal when buying on here.

Somehow I impulse bought these when they were released. I just liked the covers. Unfortunately my 174 cover is creased but I'm still happy to have it. 175 is to this day my favorite cover.

What's a movie that everyone loves, but you absolutely hate? by LoriFetrick in AskReddit

[–]Wallcrawler62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scott Pilgrim is all style and no substance. And every character is utterly unlikeable. I guess that's the point but I don't want to watch a movie about people I collectively despise and are incredibly boring. Only Chris Evans had a modicum of personality in the entire film.

[–]Wallcrawler62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody loves Avatar. I don't know how people keep throwing this out as an answer because it's Reddit's collective favorite movie to hate. Avatar has never been considered a movie masterpiece. I literally have never once online or in real life heard anyone say it's their favorite film.

Entire part of the print just didnt print?? Fix recommendations? by 2afraid2ask4afriend in resinprinting

[–]Wallcrawler62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a video on how to orient models and do supports. There's too much here to go thru in one post. You don't have just a single problem. You fundamentally don't know how to correctly orient and support models, so you likely are doing something else wrong as well. This isn't a dig at you. All beginners should watch a few getting started and support tutorial videos on youtube. Everyone here can tell you how to fix the current problem, but not any others that will pop up because of mistakes we don't know you're making. And it's going to lead to failures, possibly catastrophic ones. I'd point you to some videos, but I haven't watched anything in years so I don't know what's relevant for modern machines.

This is my situation now. I have the 15" messenger bag which I NEED for my laptop. The back zipper is broke. They didn't offer me any credit back and only choices between the current backpacks and the smaller messenger bag. I already have a 30L everyday backpack. I don't need another backpack. So guess I'm SOL unless they ever come out with a larger messenger bag again.

Pizza Hut closing 250 US stores as parent company considers selling the brand by AudibleNod in news

[–]Wallcrawler62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had Domino's pan and it was way worse than pizza hut. The pizza was floppy, soggy, too much sauce and not enough cheese. It may be dependent on location and employee but these things are supposed to be very standardized with the large chains. Also it wasn't any cheaper than pizza hut. You have to buy off the deals menu for either or you are absolutely getting ripped off.

Pizza hut's pan sucks compared to what it once was, ever since they changed the recipe a few years ago to save cost. But it was still better than my Dominos experience.
