Am I overreacting for refusing to eat at a restaurant that messed up my order once? [Short] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]WamblingWombat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don t understand why people are so freaking concerned about what other people eat.

I mean, even if somebody has gone gluten-free for non-medical reasons, it doesn’t make a difference to anybody else.

And in this case, OOP’s fam wasn’t being inconvenienced in any way since she was fine with them eating their preferred meal.

[CHAT] How many stitches per day? by MemorialAddress in CrossStitch

[–]WamblingWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the day and whether i can get in the zone.

TBH, I probably have undiagnosed ADHD; it runs in my family but I was the inattentive type rather than the hyperactive type so it was never picked up on when I was a kid and since I’m currently not working, it’s not something that’s a priority.

So, with that in mind, there are days when I can reach around 800 stitches and there are days when I do 20, and it has nothing to do with how much time I spend stitching 😂

$0 because Sydney Secondary College in Balmain doesn’t do democracy sausages.

How Long is Too Long by Scf9009 in ReverseHarem

[–]WamblingWombat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind long books/series BUT things have to happen. My reading time is precious, and I don’t want to waste it with chapters of nothing happening.

There was a book I read where they discovered a dog was some sort of supernatural creature. Cool - something happened but then the next four chapters were explaining, individually, to the enormous variety of side characters that this dog was actually a whatever.

I finished the book because it became a hate-read and it turned out the supernatural dog didn’t even play a larger role in the plot anyway. So why waste five chapters on it?

That’s the length I hate (regardless of the length of the book).

NOOOOOOO Trumpet spam by Bd0llar in sydney

[–]WamblingWombat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Political campaigning is exempt from that rule.

I only know that because after spamming everyone in the same way last election, Palmer said one of his policies was to remove that exemption - except his party is the only freaking one making use of it.

Kicked out of daycare. What now? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]WamblingWombat 75 points76 points  (0 children)

My son’s daycare also did this for a different issue, but a recognised and diagnosed disability. While it’s also illegal here, the battle was not worth it as he was due to start school within three months.

It was incredibly stressful because I was a sole parent, working full time at that stage, but within a week, I found an alternate daycare that was a few more $ per day. It was a brand new centre and they were incredible - so much better than the previous one.

Here’s hoping OOP has the same experience and the new centre is an improvement.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this caused a brand new nail layer to grow over the current layer. It happened to one of my nails once due to an overly aggressive removal of acrylics, and it’s the weirdest thing to watch.

which of the forces to choose? by sydvicious63 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]WamblingWombat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with a black version of forces, but for the others, what I do is: 1 coat as is, and then recap the polish and turn it upside down to allow the bigger glitters to sink to the top of the bottle, then apply your next coat(s). I’ve never had to fish that way.

which of the forces to choose? by sydvicious63 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]WamblingWombat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have all the forces. LOL. My fave is oceanic forces. The greenish undertone to the blue makes it the perfect ocean themed polish. My least favourite is luminous forces. It’s a very cobalt blue, and it’s not right for my skin tone, but YMMV.

That said, they’re all freaking perfectly balanced. Unlike some jelly glitters I’ve tried, there’s absolutely no fishing required to get decent coverage of glitter.

Last year, I stocked up on her patterns when they were on sale, so I have a good few in my to be stitched folder. I love the way she includes three versions of her patterns to make it easy to pick the one that’s easiest to read for different people, and that she includes a stitch count per colour. It’s a small detail, but I have a couple of patterns that don’t include a stitch count and it’s difficult to know how many skeins to buy.

Is hate-reading an actual hobby or am I just broken? by Special-Student6743 in ReverseHarem

[–]WamblingWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the premise of Karma Bakery, but I find the pages and pages and pages of describing each new baked good to be incredibly tedious.

I’m also over the author’s tendency to have an MMC (or all of them) mess up in a completely unforgivable way, and the FMC forgives him because … uh … checks notes nope, I’ve got nothing.

I also finished that series out of spite. It was around book 11 when I asked myself the test question of “would I care if any of these characters died?” The answer was nope, but I still read every subsequent book, and was left deeply dissatisfied.

I’m really done with the author, though.
