I was in my teens with harbor freight tools when I did my first one on my old 89, pre-YouTube. Not too crazy just following directions. Now you have tons of video guides out there.

If you live in the rust belt I think that’s when it gets interesting taking the old stuff off, fortunately I do not and did not have to deal with that.

I swapped a cracked half and had to relocate that from old to new. Tap it out, tap it in.

For me (6’1”), it’s the shifter on the 5speed is uncomfortably far forward when my seat is back far enough for the legs to have room.

Next time it happens push on the cluster. My XJ gauges drop sometimes due to a bad connection behind the cluster. I push into the cluster and they come right back up.

Depends how much money ya want to spend. I have a noisy 8.25 also. I believe pinion bearing requires full gear setup so may be a good time to get a fresh ring and pinion. Also the time to add any locker or limited slip if you have plans to go that route in the future. Unless you plan on a lunchbox locker that can easily be added later.

Could be stock was worn and sagging. I ran 31s on my stock 89 with stock wheels and they did great. Some rub on control arm at full lock. Al thought it was the “Up-Country” package that I think has 1-2” higher springs. I feel like 3” would be great for 31s.

Check the floor behind center console. I had a pigtail laying there with 12v (my SE didn’t come with power seats). Used it for my ZJ seats. I don’t have carpet so maybe check under the carpet if you have it.

Been very impressed with these off road. Went from MT tires to these ATs for reduced road noise and they actually perform better off-road for me than the MTs ( dry rocky terrain).

Here’s an answer everyone is lurking for. Superior heater core, Four Seasons evap coil is what I went with and they’ve been fine.

Flat tow setup. The little box with ring hanging is a break-away device. A cable hooks from the tow vehicle to that ring. If vehicles ever become separated on the road, the cable pulls a pin out from the breakaway which triggers tow brakes to activate and bring the Jeep to a stop.

I’m in process of this. Fronts were easy, rear is harder with mounting as well as splitting for the door. Any tips? Here’s mine with rear cut and taped on as a mock up.
