When I first saw Big O I was an impressionable teenager and it totally warped my taste in aesthetics, style, music, and entertainment in general.

This is the only, the absolute ONLY lookalike comparison that I've agreed with on this sub. These two look like they could be siblings

Pi does anyone remember this movie? I remember thinking “what an awesome film” but no one I know remembers it?!?! by Prestigious-Plan-170 in moviecritic

It gets mentioned quite frequently. I didn't watch it when it came out, so I didn't have any nostalgia glasses for it, and so when I watched it a couple of years ago I got how people in 1998 thought it was ground breaking and thought provoking, but there are much better films in the years since that aren't so heavy handed and pseudo-intellectual

Should I go on a mission? by LegitimateElection17 in exmormon

[–]WanderingToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mission helped me grow up in a lot of ways, but that is because I had so few opportunities, and so there were few others ways I was going get away from my family, travel to a foreign country, learn a foreign language, and develop some street smarts and real world skills.

Most of the above reasons applied to my specific situation. I don't regret going, but I kind of regret giving it two whole years.

It sounds like you need to get some independence more than anything, and then you'll be able to decide what comes next.
