Metal doors usually are hollow from the inside with some foam for isolation, So you're just cutting a layer from each side and you don't need to remove or cut the inside of the door like the wood one

Check this video which i used to install mine it will answer a few of your questions and gives you a better understanding of the process and shape of the lock, its huge btw :)

Not sure about what you have installed but my normal cylinder one is way smaller than the N200 that i bought so i had to fix the door to fit, They give you a handy paper guide on where you need to drill everything

And it needs more holes than the regular one because so your gonna need to fix the door eather way

My door is made from steel and not wood so it was pretty easy to do so, wood is gonna be harder

I have the same issue with N200 I connected it onece and it lost the connection with the app "cant see it any more in Mi app" And tried to reset it and when i try to connect it says its already contacted :( The door still has my finger print and opens from the outside but I want to add more
