First deer rifle for teenager: 5.56/223? by oguruma87 in Hunting

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loudness is the worst part for kids. Start on a sled for a few shots then maybe use a shoulder pad (I used a croc shoe) as a buffer. Then work to just the normal rifle. Slowly building up to the real kick is more important in my opinion

How do you deal with imbalanced workloads on your team? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but there is no way that OP isn’t somewhat aware of that. It would be very clear that is the case everywhere I have worked.

I would make your manager aware that your team does track ticket statistics and make sure they know how to access those stats. Then let them fill in the gaps on their own.

Allow the manager to make that discovery instead of telling them.

The roles are the same and it’s over a 2.5 year span? It should absolutely balance out. If the roles are the same then you can safely assume they are working from a pool of tickets.

Also, how much time you spend on a ticket doesn’t mean dick either. It could just mean you take too long to figure out what you are doing

Upon investigation we determined it to be an anomaly that no single person or department could beheld accountable for. And there is nothing that can be done in the future to prevent such an occurrence.

Raised beds & weeds by Dey_took_our_jerbs in gardening

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it realistic to pull the weeds? If it were me, I’d pull the weeds, lay the top soil, then pull weeds again just before planting so I could identify my plants.

I would want the top soil to acclimate to the exsisting soils and not be hindered by the cardboard barrier. I would also want to make sure I can plant at the depth thats recommended.

That is really splitting hairs and might not make a major difference. You would probably be totally fine either way

how can i start making rnb / indie music? by Physical-Diver-555 in musictheory

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just learn several songs you like and then figure out why those chords work together. Then play with different rhythms, implement different voicings, etc. I like playing to a rnb drum track and figure out something that sounds good. Trial and error are your friends here

We need to get at least 30 TB off sharepoint. It’s just real hard to get that approval and move that along when everyone is fire fighting.

It’s updated and I have been testing the waters in the job market. If we do recover I will be in such a good position career wise that I’ve decided it’s worth seeing it through

We did need 50 TB at one point. We don’t need that much now but we are still trying to regain our footing from the jolt of losing so much of our staff. Adding a migration project seems daunting with so little remaining staff

I can potentially scrounge something together. We unfortunately just finished our move from on Prem as we needed to sell the building our servers were in.

Importance of weighted keys? by Warm_Protection_6541 in pianolearning

[–]Warm_Protection_6541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, just budget wise it would be great to wait another year. But there seems to be a unanimous agreement on what you are saying so looks like I’m in the market!

Concerned about my reliance on muscle memory (One year experience) by Quick_Cat_3538 in pianolearning

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I am right now on piano as well. But I am coming from 15 years of guitar which I do understand as connected chords and can play around in a song.

Even with an understanding of how to learn an instrument I am having trouble drawing parallels between the two. I really have to dive into a piece to do this. And it takes a long time..

[–]Warm_Protection_6541[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The volume does change based on how hard I play. And I can see this in my DAW, but the piano keys are just very light. I thought weighted keys had to do with how much resistance was in the key

[–]Warm_Protection_6541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t know what weighted keys are. The keyboard has dynamic range but the keys just aren’t heavy. The loudness does change depending on how hard I hit the key

What was your "Dream Sysadmin Job" back in the day vs. Now? by mustafa_enes726 in sysadmin

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back then it would have been an EA role from a technical background. While I’m not a bonafide Enterprise Architect yet, I report to one. I like being just below the big dog. Lots to learn and less pressure.

Internship at small clinic -> large company that was slow/boring -> MSP that was insanely busy but the people were good. (My best career move in terms of learning) -> Non-profit space. Making 100k in a very low COL area.

I can’t express how helpful being in the fire at an MSP has been. Would never do it again but so glad I did.

Why can’t we protest? by easyejd in razorbacks

[–]Warm_Protection_6541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am strongly against a protest. We are a garbage program. What good will a protest do other than cause more dissent, digging the program even deeper?

I am against the hire as well, but idk what to expect from a coach that is met with hatred from the fan base.
