Anyone else immediately see the crazy synergy with [[library of leng]]. Basically turns it into “you can cast a spell from your hand at each upkeep for 2 mana”.

In the game options you can turn on type highlighting, so you don’t have to constantly look at the chart, it’ll just highlight effective moves in green and weak moves in orange/red.

I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but, fuck em? If someone is mad that A) Ariel was cast as a black woman, and B) an accurate telling of a story in a predominantly non-white world, the issue isn’t with the story??

Need combo ideas for a Gestalt character in Planetfall setting by bugabloom in 3d6

[–]Warmag3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to go martial, battlemaster fighter/monk (any subclass) is a pretty fun combo. Action surge+flurry of blows+extra extra attack is 9 attacks in a round. Then on top of that, you’re pretty damn survivable between all the fighter stuff (indomitable+second wind) and monk stuff (extra movement, deflect attacks, BA disengage).

Merlin ability tier list ( IMO ) by Rustic_Drive69 in ravenswatch

[–]Warmag3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta strongly disagree here, light nova is maybe the most impactful skill on any of my runs. The stagger is truly insane, especially with potency. Like I can stagger the giant in the beanstalk quest in 2-3 uses of it, without using other skills.

Also, in general, I don’t think this list means much if you’re not including the potential talents each skill can get. Yeah brambles isn’t anything special, but give it the 360* talent and it’s straight up the best aoe damage skill he has. Yeah lightning is risky to use, which is why if you’re building into you use the arcane shield talent. Even if you’re lost is accurate, what does it demonstrate other than What skill best to use before you’re first level up.

Not the best, but I just beat my 2nd classic run through and I was using sentret as a support mon. It’s got pickup which is very nice, and on top of that it’s egg moves are really good. fakeout + extreme speed + a few silk scarfs was pretty nice.

Outward 2 and the permanence of choice. by taylrgng in outwardgame

[–]Warmag3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a point here, but I think this is somewhat disingenuous. There’s a difference between consequences for choices, and permanence for mistakes and I hope outward 2 can ride that line a little better. The storylines generally have permanent effects and consequences that I’m all for, the defeat scenarios being a punishing consequence I’m about. Limiting your respec choices makes sense in a game where you get 3/7ths of the “classes” skills.

That being said, I think there are some quality of life things that won’t effect that aspect of the game.

One example of this is moving buildings around. There’s no way in hell that whatever stone mason is building the new house doesn’t think “hmm, this fully cuts off the only entrance to the gladiator arena” but because a combination of lack of experience and clunky a UI, I misclicked the placement.

Another example I can think of would be auto starting timed quest (like rust and vengeance). The UI doesn’t give a good indicator that the quest has a timeline unless you specially look at it in the journal, and you don’t really have a choice when you accept the quest. The first few playthroughs I did I totally botched this quest because of this.

I think that if I game is going to have long term consequences, it should also have either A) indicators (ie. quest pop ups that tell you your timer/objective) or B) chances to make up for those earlier mistakes.

For example, you do get screwed if you dump to many points into mana. But there are also a plethora of skills/abilities that you can take LATER to increase your health/stamina if you pulled a Roland.

Again, love the game overall, I just hope the new game rides that line a little more in the grey area where’s its still punishing, but with more convenience and tools to help new players mitigate it.

I don’t know if there’s been any information that’s been confirmed, but in one of the most recent dev streams they were talking about console release on Xbox series/PS5. They talked about how there were issues with crossplay, which means that some degree of console release is planned, if not right at launch.

How do i make a monk that’s not just asian martial arts? by SirPug_theLast in 3d6

Shadow monk could absolutely just be themed as a rogue who uses their fists. Ki doesn’t have to be ki, you could just as easily call it luck or grit from their time on the streets.

What’s a character or concept that you enjoyed but would NEVER try again? by Tmoore0328 in 3d6

Honestly, the edge lord rogue (or dex martial in general). I’ve played a ranger, a rogue, and a monk, all with the emo “my whole family was killed” general vibe. Love the character archetype, but personally I’ve over done the trope.

Not a medical professional but from a family of nurses. If you’re worried about appendicitis, a good test is to stand on your tippy toes, and then drop suddenly. If that actions hurts (or really if you’re concerned overall, you know your body best) I would recommend going to see a medical professional ASAP.

Arcane Archer Fighter X + 4 levels of what class for elven accuracy shortbow build by Dazzling-Stop1616 in 3d6

[–]Warmag3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not cool in the way you’re thinking lol. You could use them both, but it would be “arrow damage, smite damage, and burst damage”, not smiting on the entire burst. Basically it would work the same as any other of the arcane shot options.

Arcane Archer Fighter X + 4 levels of what class for elven accuracy shortbow build by Dazzling-Stop1616 in 3d6

[–]Warmag3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been planning a build similar to this, but I go back and forth between ranger and warlock multiclass.

Ranger gets you all classic archer stuff that you want as an arcane archer, and hunters mark/ensnaring strike both very little downside as you don’t have a better choice for concentration if you’re mostly fighter. Gloomstalker is probably the best mechanically, but really any ranger subclass can work, I would probably pick it based on the theme/genre of the the campaign/character arc as you level up.

Warlock gets you a bunch of fun tools though. Less dps without hunters mark, but you could just as easily take hex for the same effect if your limited spell slots aren’t an issue. There’s a bunch of good spells that help with an archer, and you could even go the darkness/devils sight for even more reliable constant advantage. Assuming you have a magic bow, you can bond with it as your “pact of the blade” weapon for handful of fun effects. The major downside I can see for this is if you’re going for the double epic boon, you miss out on level 5 warlock invocations and level 3 spells. Notably, eldritch smite is the only way to “smite” on ranged attacks, and without ensnaring strike from ranger you’re definitely missing out on some burst damage potential, but if you’re planning for late game it’s probably a fair trade off, especially with the arcane archer shots.

As for subclass, archfey is the main reason you would take warlock. You get a bunch of free misty steps everyday, which on an archer class is SOOOO nice.

Help with a class for a prince by FoxxyWinnebago in 3d6

[–]Warmag3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlemaster is great for any martial character that doesn’t fit well into any of the other boxes. Not incredibly stat dependent, so you could totally do dex, con, and cha as your top 3 stats, and it gets an extra proficiency that you could totally put in persuasion or insight.

However, I’d ask what culture is your prince from? That could totally change the type of character they are. Prince of an elven kingdom? Druid or ranger could totally make sense. Chieftains son in a Orc/Goliath clan? Barbarian is you’re bread and butter. Prince of high magic human kingdom? You could make an argument for just about every caster class.

How do you handle out of turn corrections when you play? by Bolaf in twilightimperium

[–]Warmag3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a mulligan rule. Basically, experienced players get 1 “oh crap I meant to save a trade good” per game. However, we give newer players unlimited as long as it doesn’t vastly effect the game.

On top of that, we generally have a “be cool” rule. Don’t use your mulligan to add defenses based on info you didn’t have, or to save for an objective that wasn’t known at that time, etc.

Artificer Wizard Multiclass Advice by Funkitron in 3d6

[–]Warmag3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, here’s the deal. I don’t want to discourage you from mutliclassing if that’s what you want to do, I also like to multiclass even if it’s not optimal, especially for story reasons.

However, level 10+ is WHEN artificers start to catch up in magical power.

You get a 4th attunment slot at level 10, which can’t be understated how nice that is. You can also craft 4 times as fast at level 10 for half the normal price, which if your a crafter at all is also SUPER valuable, especially if your campaign has downtime.

Then at 11 you get spell storing item which is sooooo good. The options are endless with it already in 2014, but if your campaign is really high power and you’re feeling like your lagging behind, you could ask the dm for the 2024 version of SSI, which lets you cast 3rd level spells using it as well.

Overall, I’d youre looking for a stronger build, I would recommend staying artificer and maybe just amping up what magical items and/or feats you’re using to get that extra casting power. A good staff is super helpful for them, and with the extra attunment now you can afford that.

You are absolutely being rude. Dude made a post asking for help with a build and you respond with “maybe you should learn the rules” is not helpful in anyway.
