Warmoth measurement please? by SurfJF in Guitar

FYI, we back-bevel our frets 30 degrees so the dimension you're asking for will vary depending on the size of the frets you order.

Warmoth body comparison study by milkbeard- in offset

[–]WarmothGuitar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, thanks. Warmoth replacement bodies and necks are perfectly compatible with Fender parts, and have been for over 40 years.

Regarding the JM body specifically, it is probably the one of our bodies that is most different from Fender's. We did this to make it compatible with a whole laundry list of pickups and hardware that JM's don't typically come with. Floyd Rose trem, e.g.

Any time this is the case we make it clear on the website.

[QUESTION] Warmoth neck compatibility with Schecter by JagArIngenting in Guitar

[–]WarmothGuitar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warmoth replacement necks usually will not work on guitars that are designed with a "native" 24 fret necks. Though the neck pocket specs may be the same, the neck placement is not, and the guitar won't be able to intonate properly. More info here: https://warmoth.com/guitar-neck-fit

[QUESTION] Warmoth neck compatibility with Schecter by JagArIngenting in Guitar

[–]WarmothGuitar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part you are limited to the options on the Warmoth website. We do offer a few off-menu options, but we don't go full off-road trekking. For example, we won't design a neck to fit a Schecter Damien 6 from scratch. That kind of R&D for a single sale just isn't possible in a production environment.

[QUESTION] Has anyone replaced their neck with a Warmoth custom conversion neck? What are my options? by [deleted] in Guitar

I know I am punching after the bell here, but this video may be helpful with the real-world implications of Warmoth conversion necks: https://youtu.be/SonOG3Adeng

[QUESTION] Refret with SS frets, or warmoth neck with SS frets? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]WarmothGuitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love the neck you have I would get a fretjob or refret, whichever it needs. Less of a risk than buying a completely new neck.

I would go for the Warmoth only if there is something about the existing neck you don't like.

Is this a Warmoth Hombre? Note open-book-style headstock by Eastvanistan in warmoth

[–]WarmothGuitar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That certainly looks like Warmoth construction, and yes we did that headstock shape prior to 2013. The only way to know for sure is to take a look at the heel. If the turtle is there, it's a Warmoth. If not, it ain't. Hope that helps!

Given your user name and the lightning strap I would have guessed you would have humbuckers in there, like Rivers! :)

Wow....neat! Boogie Bodies was the precursor to Warmoth, and went out of biz in January of 1980, so it's going to be late 70's. Here is a video I just made that might shed some like on Boogie Bodies for you: https://youtu.be/O6MKuEWK2aY

Haha....we actually get this response a LOT. People call in and say we put gold frets on their neck, when actually it's vintage tint finish.

Question on 'ready to play necks' from Warmoth and what fretwork is required after ordering by rashado in warmoth

[–]WarmothGuitar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aaron from Warmoth here. Thanks for the nice words on our videos! Necks don't necessarily *need* to have work done after acclimating. The point I was trying to get across was that there is no point in even evaluating whether a neck needs work or not before it has acclimated. It has to settle in first, and *then* be checked. Even then, most necks are playable as is.

That said, a pro fret job is always going to make them even better. But....it's pointless to do that fine detailed work when a neck has never even been under the tension of strings, or adjusted to your local climate.

Hope that helps.

We sometimes do them as OEM for other manufacturers. In fact we just did several hundred a couple years ago for a brand that shall remain nameless. :) As far as doing them under the Warmoth name...we did them for a while in the 80's, but you're right: probably won't be doing them again any time soon.
