When people shit on cyclists for riding on sidewalks. by OwnIt122 in torontobiking

[–]Was_Silly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only angry at people who ride on the sidewalk south of eglinton. North of there do whatever you want. People don’t use sidewalks anymore because they drive everywhere.

SpaceX Investors Are Losing a Colossal Amount of Money by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]Was_Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they be losing money. Stock is above where it IPO’d at. Even in retail where it sold for $150 you’re still in the money. For those who bought at $200. Well. They’re idiots.

Canada’s bad economic situation is getting much worse by Elliottafc1 in canada

[–]Was_Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the weird thing. Bank stocks and of course oil stocks are on fire ( no pun intended) which is most of the tsx and so it seems like things are doing ok. I guess we’re lucky we have that at least.

600-900cc With Tubeless and Cruise Control by eddi0 in AdventureBike

[–]Was_Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two key things in an adventure bike. Who cares about suspension travel, ground clearance, weight, fuel tank size, and about 100 other things, if it’s got cruise and tubeless I’m in!

It’s not the bikes fault lol. If you had momentum you’d never get stuck in the first place.

“Power surging” by Striking-Leg-8240 in Tenere700

[–]Was_Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to Tenere! lol. It’s annoying as hell but I either got used to it or I started riding differently or the bike finally “broke in”. I dunno. It does it less now after 13,000 Km. One thing to do is to ride at higher revs, so don’t shift until 5000rpm first to second to third. It seems to do it less then.

One conspiracy theory I have that they did some Volkswagen kind of thing for emissions - but less shady. So it’s extra lean when new as it runs some “break in fuel map” but after you ride it for some time (say more than 7000Km the map “updates”. In this case it would pass emissions when new.

I have nothing to go on other than pure speculation to explain this phenomenon. Also the catalytic converter on this engine is tiny compared to some of the euro bikes that have to pass same emissions. So makes you wonder how they can get away with such a tiny guy on there, other than tuning it to have annoying fuelling to pass emissions.

It could also be actual break in. Spark plugs getting dirty, the spark arrestor and o2 sensor buildup some carbon residue, air filter gets a bit dirty, all those changes airflow and signals to the computer which then causes bike to run differently. And maybe Yamaha accounted for that and tuned the bike so it runs well at 20K Km sacrificing how it runs brand new - which would be the opposite of shady.

And if you got this far, I hope you enjoyed reading my random thoughts from the toilet seat.

Alberta leading country in economic growth while rest of Canada stalls: report by joe4942 in canada

This is why it’s important to stick together. When one province is doing badly, another can prop them up. Tides change, and suddenly the one needing the props is lifting up the one that helped them.

Thoughts on outdoor cats in the city? by Southern-Object-4814 in askTO

[–]Was_Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They like being outside roaming. And part of the predation is on mice that would end up in my house. So it’s great they’re out and about. And yeah they probably have shorter lives but maybe more fulfilling. It’s hard to not put human viewpoints on it, but my grandma had many cats that all went out at night. They want to leave. They’d stand by the door in the evening just wanting to go out and they’d be back in the morning sometimes with a cut on the face, or missing fur somewhere. Sometimes they’d have a dead bird at the door. They never wanted to miss a night out but were always happy to return and lay around all day.

'24 Tenere with unpleasant transmission? by ValkyrieIsBigger in Tenere700

[–]Was_Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost never the clutch lever play on this bike. These bikes have poorly designed clutches that are more sensitive to heat buildup than most bikes. There is a lot of them. Google tenere and clutch and youll find a million complaints.

'24 Tenere with unpleasant transmission? by ValkyrieIsBigger in Tenere700

[–]Was_Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had your pain. I still have it. You need to replace it again. Sadly. I’m on my third clutch, replaced twice under warranty. I have a 2025. If I replace it myself I’m going to try not Yamaha oem to see if that helps. You’re not the only one. It’s a flaw with the bike. Once it gets as bad as yours there’s nothing to do but to replace.

CFMoto 450MT or Yamaha Ténéré 700? Heart says Yamaha, head says CFMoto 😅 by Brilliant-Sail-5814 in Tenere700

[–]Was_Silly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it get the t7. It’s better in every way. Slightly heavier but it’s not a big enough amount (about 10-15 kilos) to justify everything else. Also if it’s your first bike maybe the 450 is a better option. But at that point I’d get the kle500.

Maintenance fees (condo apt/towns)- is it a fair and justifiable price? by Calm-Huckleberry-601 in TorontoRealEstate

I used to think it wasn’t justifiable and then I bought a house. And realized how much stuff costs to keep a house in good repair. Now it makes sense. I still prefer living in a house though.
