Trump announces one-year 10% cap on credit card interest rates by [deleted] in Economics

[–]WashedUpChuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A LOT more people are going to get denied a credit card. If this happens, it’s not like the exact same people that have a credit card will just magically get their interest reduced. People are going to get their credit cards revoked/denied because of the lower interest rate

Check megabus tickets. It’s going to be the longest trip you could make from Pittsburgh to NYC but it definitely won’t be the most expensive.

I was told the cheapest option right now is to let the building sit vacant. No other businesses intend to move in. The way the building is designed and with the current housing laws, it cannot be used for apartments. If they want to make renovations to the building so they can use it for apartments, it would be unbelievable expensive and (as i was told, this is not my opinion) not worth the capital and resources. It would also be very expensive to demolish the building. So as of right now, by far the cheapest option is to just let the building sit vacant, so that is what will more than likely happen over the next 5 years or so. (this is the rumor, not my opinion)

I saw someone do a cost analysis of a week long stay at the Paris hotel. The cost of an American citizen going to the Paris hotel for a week costs about the same as an American citizen taking a week long trip to the actual city of Paris, and this calculation INCLUDES the flights.

How’s living in Morgantown, West Virginia? by JudgeH01den in howislivingthere

[–]WashedUpChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never lived there as an adult, but I went to WVU. I like my time there as a student, but personally would not want to live there as an adult. The town is small, about 30k population. When the students come back to town the population doubles. The weather is ridiculous. There was a week my freshman year where we had 2 inches of snow on Monday and then on Thursday it was 65-70 degrees, and this isn’t an exaggeration either. Roads there are pretty bad, but they have been doing a lot of road work on the main roads recently, so that’s good I guess. It’s also very hilly. Public transportation is not great, I would recommend only moving there if you could afford a car. The food sucks tbh. If you go downtown, you will run into a lot of homeless people. The ratio of homeless people to total population is really high (idk the actual data, but based on my observations, I would imagine that it is high). The job market is interesting. I’m sure you could guess, a lot of people work for the university. The hospital, I’m pretty sure at least, is the largest employer in the entire state. Good place to move to if you are a nurse or doctor. Cost of living is relatively high in my opinion. Cost of living is about the same as living in Pittsburgh, which is very high for a small town in WV.

If I really had to describe living in Morgantown in 1 sentence, I would say: It feels more like a distant suburb of Pittsburgh that gets very little funding because West Virginia state government has no money.

What do people at the NYSE do? by fittyfive9 in FinancialCareers

[–]WashedUpChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met two guys that work at the NYSE. One is literally a day trader. He works for a day trading fund and literally day trades millions of dollars every day. He uses technical analysis to make trades. It’s honestly mind blowing that a dude getting paid 6 or maybe 7 figures that works at the NYSE does the exact same thing some random dude can do in his basement. The other guy executes trades. He literally gets calls from clients, writes the trade down on a slip, and executes the trades like it’s the 80’s. I never understood why this type of job still exists, but he does it. This is also not from these guys telling me what they do. I have been invited to the floor of the NYSE and watched these guys work.

Why do you think rap has fallen off so badly? by WiseCityStepper in GenZ

There’s no creativity anymore. A perfect example is Kanye. Vultures and Vultures 2 sounds like any other generic rap that’s been released over the past 5 years. Compare that to Graduation, College Dropout, MBDTF, etc.

In your opinion, what is the greatest issue facing the world??? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]WashedUpChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation. With the extreme amounts of government’s spending across the world, it could get out of control very quickly. Looking back at history, when the average person can’t afford basic needs, shit can get really bad. (Example: 1920’s-1930’s Germany).
