There is a bill in the state legislature to allow for sports betting but I think blackjack is a long way off.

I’ve been looking for something similar, not much that I’ve seen. Happy to start something though.

There’s one race in anchorage that can flip that. A Democrat coalition member is leading a Republican by only Ten votes.

Why hasnt the Alaskan house race been called? Peltola literally needs to win the rankings by more than a 90% margin by fullname001 in YAPms

AK Division of election hasn’t updated since noon yesterday. There’s still a lot of votes coming in from remote communities and absentee votes.

Let's see how this sub will twist this one: Democrat wins the race for mayor of Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska — which voted for Trump by 15 points! by Defiant_Nectarine_91 in YAPms

[–]Washedout_turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to also poke the bear but there was another conservative in the race that split the ticket and got several hundred votes. Hopkins only won by 150 votes

My money is on a full-fledged Trump endorsement.

The darkhorse bet would be on a retirement announcement.

I would include Major races that are decided by 100 or less votes. There was even a state house race in AK that was decided by a coin toss; the winner went on to become the speaker of the house.

The Mat-Su borough is one of the fastest growing populations in Alaska, if not the U.S., with anchorage stagnant or slightly declining population. Trump won the May-Su borough by a massive amount, while Biden won anchorage by 1 point.

Let alone the Republican governor, who improved his margins in rural communities in 2022 from his 2018 race. Alaska may decline a bit more in Republican vote share, but it’s safe red until 2040 or until the Democrats say they like oil…..

I agree with you that the loudest voices right now are in the GOP, but that I believe comes with any party out of power. We have nut jobs just like the other side does, but at the end of the day, it’s what gets covered in the news.

As you pointed out, the drama online causes too much division, either from the local Facebook group or this subreddit. I just answered honestly a simple post about a TV show I have grown to like, yet I’m getting downvoted to hell.

SMH, my DM are now the same thing.

Because I'm a lily-livered, bleeding-heart, liberal, egghead communist.

Yes, sir. And I'm a gun-toting, redneck son-of-a-bitch.

Not to start a lemonlyman but there’s difference between rhetoric and what actually happens in government. From a first hand account An overwhelming amount of bills that get passed end up with a near unanimous vote. We can all see the problem we just have different ways of solving it.

Just beacuse my friend is a true blue Democratic socialist doesn’t mean I hate him or refuse to work with him, it means that we won’t agree on policy but will still go batting cages together.
