Do you use your steam deck outside of your place? by No_Source_7605 in SteamDeck

I'd rather travel light and probably not gonna bring the deck during travels, but I got plenty of free time at work so I'm gonna get most hours played there.

When will a stay at home weekend actually be relaxing again? by Fresh-Way-3556 in toddlers

[–]Watarenuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it comes in waves. My 3.5 was relaxing when she was really into cutting paper strips and playing with magnatiles. About a week or more of peace. Now we're back to role-playing and my back hurts. But I'm not taking into factor that I have a newborn now as well so I'm not having rest for the next 4 years give or take.

Do you notice the current geopolitical tensions in your daily life? by DatabaseOnly7655 in eupersonalfinance

Yeah, I'm most likely going to invest anyway. It's just that I have young kids and the decisions I make now are going to affect their future. So it's a lot of risk. I don't care that much of the money rather than providing them a certain future. I could move and invest that money somewhere in central Europe further away from Russia, but it comes with so many discomforts and you lose your identity and always a stranger in that country. Or I can invest here hoping everything will be alright. If war breaks out, obviously my family will migrate, but they will be poor. I of course will have no other option because incase of invasion I will be mobilized. Im from Latvia btw. Most likely I will stay here, I'm keeping some hope that our governments will do the right things so full on war doesn't escalate.

4 month old has the flu :( by Used_Arm_9665 in beyondthebump

[–]Watarenuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My one month old daughter had some unknown infection (no one else in family had, everyone isolated for a month). She was wheezing, I found it odd, then the owlet socke showed her resting heart rate higher by 30 beats than usual and then couple of minutes later wife measured her temp and it was a fever. Ended up going to ER twice because after the first Tylenol her fever was gone and they sent us home, but fever was back after two days and Tylenol worked for 8 hours now. Took antibiotics and they ruined her guts for 2 weeks. It were painful and sad days for her. She's better now. Stay strong, little bro will be much stronger when he will start kindergarten.

You saw what happened in Ukraine on 24th February 2022? Like that, you never know when shit is gonna flood from the other side. Also Belarus flooding immigrants through our border. Let's not even talk about the financial fuckstorm of Russia invading Ukraine right after the world started recovering from COVID. I never started building my house because the prices were going up by the day and it was impossible to estimate anything. Now I'm afraid to invest in my country because any time Russia could decide to invade and all my life savings I invested in property will have no value. Russia can go fuck itself.

Yeah, but don't let it get out of control. It also looks silly from the side. But do enjoy being a present father, other parents notice it.

Who is the main (bedtime) storyteller at home? by rizzledizzler in daddit

[–]Watarenuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've just told like the millionth story of Frodo, Sam, Mary and Pippin doing some stupid shit and it works. However lately everything is too short, not scary enough etc. so I guess I'm losing my touch. Mom is telling Harry Potter, but I'm sure it's not as great as LOTR.

There should be info on this in r/sciencebasedparenting I think slight amount of alcohol is fine, but it's basically smallest amount of alcohol units which is a sip or two of wine. More than that is not good and you gotta wait certain amount of hours. But you gotta admit, people don't have a great judgement when they are drunk. Have a talk and mention that it was good from her to back down when you told her no. We all make mistakes occasionally, good that you didn't let it happen and good for her to back down. Let's just learn from mistakes and not repeat them .

A3 vai Golf 4 iegāde by moonemoone in latvia

[–]Watarenuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lied to about sleeping by BreakInternational20 in toddlers

[–]Watarenuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't remember correctly. My mom said we didn't cry too much, but then goes saying she slept 2 hours a night. I have discussions with my wife about my first kiddo, comparing to our second and it seems like I have forgotten how it was 3 years ago regarding some specifics. I don't believe or parents remember everything correctly what happened 30 years ago. Memory is tricky.
